    Perch fishing on Devils Lake is some of the most exciting fishing that we have ever experienced. Our trip was to Devils Lake was very fun after the past two years we weren't really able find the jumbos, but with your help we were able to find some really nice schools of perch this year. Thank You!

    Loved the show..informative..and agree the need to regulate. Especially now with Covid and almost exponential interest in outdoors, which is great, but technology and social media can have an impact on resources. Mn has a large population of hunting and fishing enthusiasts. I'm 60 plus yrs old and want to enjoy QUALITY fishing and HUNTING. I hope Mn will see the need in its whitetail QUALITY mgt strategy also. It's been way to long.

    I’m 15 and new to fishing, I was wondering what you think about using plastic baits compared to wax worms

    • @JasonMitchellOutdoors
      @JasonMitchellOutdoors  4 года назад +9

      +StorminGormanYT they both work really well. Plastics are nice because they are durable and have a lot of action, great for aggressive fish. There are some days however when waxworms just catch more fish... especially fussy bluegills. Learn to use both. Waxworms will probably be easiest to get confidence in when just starting but grow to be versatile as an angler. Good luck!

    Florida guy here. If I make a trip up north this winter and fish for 2-3 days, what are the odds I have a good day? I know that's a tough question, but I've never been ice fishing and wouldn't want to make the trip up to get skunked.

    • @JasonMitchellOutdoors
      @JasonMitchellOutdoors  4 года назад +1

      If you have never ice fished and only have 2-3 days, your realistic chances of being successful probably aren’t good. You might need a snowmobile or tracked vehicle just to access the lake. In your situation, a guide would be money well spent as a good guide can get you on the ice and show you a lot while hopefully putting you on a good bite.

      +Ron Feyo we consider a small lake anything less than 2,000 acres. Most of the small dish bowl lakes are between 500 and 1000 acres. We don’t have many one or two acre lakes that hold fish because of the winters we have.

    just fyi people, when he showed how the minnow head rocks by just light jig under the spoon, that is false, the minnow head floats and causes the hooks to be upside down, i hook my minnow heads under the head so the head is showing a true bait fish movement when jigging and plus better feel on the bite... I don't think i have missed a light bite since. Oh, and i will NEVER EVER use braided ice line again!! ice buildup is horrible, and i assuming they were joking about sensitivity on braided, braided retains water and thus causes more weight on the line, thus less sensitivity. But i guess they have to sell product i guess.

    • @JasonMitchellOutdoors
      @JasonMitchellOutdoors  4 года назад +12

      +Ryan Roehr you can have your opinion but if a minnow head is floating a treble hook, you are pinching too far back and not pinching the air bladder. As far as your comment on braid, braid does freeze up and so does mono when conditions get really tough. Difference is that I can take a mitten or glove to clean off braid very fast where as mono is much more difficult. The no stretch of braid is way more sensitive and is way better on setting the hook in my opinion than the stretch of mono. Just sharing a lot of hard learned lessons that you can take or not. One thing is certain, I have caught literally thousands of perch and would never tell you to try something I don't do or use myself.
