ok this is a quick question, i recently have gotten into making my own templates but i wanted to start being a bit adventurous, so my question is i want to start layering other heat transfers with rhinestones so for example a layer of glitter then black then rhinestones on top, can this be done and is so what other transferable matterials work?
For garments or anything being laundered, you can't layer hotfix stones on top of the htv. You *can*, but it will fail. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but it will. Think of it as placing a suction cup to glass, then putting it through the washer / dryer. Yes it sticks now, and it might last a load or two, but the grip will give up. Now take the same suction cup and melt it into fabric. Same concept, the stones adhesive liquifies and grabs hold of the threads and becomes one with it. This is why we have multi dec designs on site, for garments. The stones always have a place to be that's part of the design, but on fabric. The reason you see some rule breaking with this, is with flatbacks if it's not a multidec design. And they're on tumblers or such that won't be laundered. We use our Supertite Fusion Tack for this. Decals only, adding stones to vinyl is ok. You can get the same "look" as if it's layered though by knocking the holes out for the stones in your design, make a template and brush them in. This will still likely cause the htv to fail though.... Since pressing it shrinks it a touch, you can't tack press the vinyl then press the stones after and get good pressure to the htv since stones are raised. Likely your htv will peel. -TRW Crystal
Yes. With some htv though, you'll need to account for the thickness. We like glitter htv because it's thicker. So if you use a different kind, then you'll need to adjust your press time shorter or the thinner htv will bubble. -TRW Crystal
