Thing is. It's not twisted metal. It's only twisted metal by name. This is more like if mad Max was a parody. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed it for what it was. But don't expect no dark stuff in it like the game was. Also there's no tournament and it's only two episodes with real car combat.

I’m beyond excited to see Axel and Mr Grimm. I came into this show thinking they’d only incorporate 2-3 characters from the game but nope I was pleasantly surprised. I made a joke being like “imagine if Flower Power was in this show, that’d be absurd” and she’s in the freaking show. We need goofy campy action series like this, it’s a breath of fresh air. I bet season 2’s budget will be crazy, this show must be making a ton of money. I love it so much
Yes I did not expect flower power, pizza boy and drag queen to be there at all 🤣 I love it and I wanna see more from characters that are from neglected TM games as well as weird looking characters like the No face guy from TM Black

I like what they did with Flower Power. Also Pit Viper is in the show, she was the only vehicle in Twisted Metal 1 to never return. They made a reference to every game. There was even a shot of kids playing with RC cars that looked like the ones from small brawl.

I watched the whole show in one sitting and I thought it was fun as hell I never played the games so this was my introduction to the series definitely excited for season 2 plus Sweet Tooth was a fun character.
I was also very pleasantly surprised. Sweet Tooth is amazing. They can not kill him off for real, it would be a huge mistake. He is the glue that held the show together if you ask me. Let's see if they get his ice cream truck to turn into the robot!

I was dreaming first. I was skeptical and hesitant but once I did start watching I became infested. Your right also about after the 3rd episode, I became completely hooked. I hope session two is the same but also better.👍🏾
I had a lot of fun with this. I think it's cool that this season essentially serves as a prequel to the actual tournament. And the ending of episode 8 was surprisingly emotional with that use of My Immortal. I do wish they kept Sweet Tooth as a psychotic antihero who tries being friends with people that are honest with him.
Also the thing that *drove* me to watch this series is that first title card popping up and then playing my boo, then realised this series was gonna be a *highway* of a trip, Till the next season hope they include Axel attached with his big wheels

I'm surprised how really good Twisted Metal show is especially the games themselves has fairly a plot but mostly barebones. The show managed to use the source material pretty well Also I played every Twisted Metal games even Small Brawl.. yes that one and Twisted Metal 4. The show portrayal of Sweet Tooth/Needles Kane is pretty much one package in the mix. The humor of TM1-3 and the sadistic murderer of Black and 2012 and also he has Harold, the bag he was befriended from Lost ending of Twisted Metal 1

I actually think this Sweet Tooth is better than the serious psychopath from the more recent games. I saw a scene from(I think the 2015 game) and he seemed a bit too serious for a crazy man in a clown mask.
You know I was really undecided going in the watching this show, I did play the game growing up but I'm not into the lore like I am to the lore of Mortal Kombat. I like what they did, They set it up perfect for people like me that's not familiar with it. I feel as if it's more of a prequel to the actual Twisted Metal race. Definitely deserves a season 2. Its leaps and bounds better than what Disney plus called Marvel Secret Invasion.
Honestly you didn’t miss much in lore, more cameos from different games. Also I 100% agree with you this being a prequel to the twisted metal tournament that will be season 2
It really was a better than all expectations. The cast of both movie and tv actors was so perfect. And the creation of quiet as a new character is so in line with every new game that comes out always has a few new members. The contrast between game and show was very well done. Loved it.
Neve Campbell plays a Badass villian known as Raven and she's already my favorite character in the show. I can't wait to see how this scinero goes down between her and John Doe. It will be interesting.

I hope it gets green lit for a season 2 cause they already said that it would be a short turn around because it was only a year from when it was announced to when it was released this July which is phenomenal for that big of a budget behind the show

from 1 chris to thee other, i felt the same way you did in the beginning. i wasnt feeling the very first episode, very cheezy, i was hoping 1 or both knew how to fight really well and they didnt. but as it went on i really started to enjoy this and i enjoyed it a lot towards he end. i understood why he was a character who couldnt fight, i enjoyed her back story. i never played this game so i didnt know what to expect but it ended up being a really enjoyable series. looking forward to season2.

That was the issue, I believe. People seem to remember Twisted Metal Black and Twisted Metal 2013. This show was obviously a homage to the early PS1 Twisted Metal games.

Cool review. I never and I mean never watch shows on Netflix, Peacock, etc. I just don't think it's productive. However, after watching episode one of TM I subscribed to Peacock and binged Series one. My favorite character was definitely Stone! He was great all around and I loved his voice. Sweet Tooth was also disturbingly entertaining. You pulled it together nicely for me. I didn't even realized some of the character flash backs were the same people! Especially Stone. I thought the Mall cop was an entirely different person the whole show. I thought Episode one and 10 were my favorites. I kept saying this is so stupid a lot of times through the middle but kept watching. Great characters and some hilarious voices!
Is it me, or has this been a semi- Renaissance year for game adaptations? With the acclaim of The Last of Us, the massive success of Mario, the fun of Twisted Metal, the uniqueness of Gran Turismo (I'll count it, but it could be removed since it's not directly based on the games), and the respect/hype for FNAF, it feels like higher quality than prior years

Put this show on while I painted and ended watching the whole season in one sitting. I loved this show not the best written but my monkey brain was completely entertained. Hopefully they’ll get a season 2 with a better budget for those effects. Might save money if they use fake blood instead of cgi blood?
This is the best review of the show I've seen. I agree with the back and forth between Quiet and John, I think it felt organic and i enjoyed all the drama and story telling and characters throughout the show.

Greatly the ending saved it, coz they set up Calypso's Tournament Which made all the pretty fuckin awesome, sometimes boring snd always campy lead up to that final AMAZING BATTLE alllllll worth it.
I agree about the trailer. I thought the show was going to be abysmal so I went in with the absolute lowest expectations which left me absolutely LOVING it. Frankly, this show ended up being better in every aspect than I ever thought it would be and I left happy.
I barely have any knowledge of the games (I've started playing Black recently and only played a little of the psp one) but this show ruled, was a unique story and world and had a ton of fun with it. Stoked for season 2!

Perfect review. Twisted metal is a part of my child and adult hood. I saw the trailers and had NO hope. I watched anyway and i couldn't have been more surprised at how good it is
It was a nice good time watching it man. I have not played any of the games, but I do know some of it like Sweet Tooth and the car fights. Sweet Tooth was one of the best parts of the show. But it was nice to give the main characters and others more care in the show. Season 2 looks like its going to be another fun ride to watch too.

I felt the exact same way from that first teaser. Also the one with Anthony Mackie dancing to "you're still my sunshine" both just put a horrible taste in my mouth. But I decided to check it out and was sincerely surprised how much I liked it. I don't do most TV shows, (commitment issues), but I definitely ended up binging this one. Once I remembered exactly what the games were about, I was able to embrace the ridiculousness of this series. Like Axel, literally just a dude in-between two big ass tractor tires with rockets strapped on his shoulders. lol That's the source material for this show, so I'm more than okay with how this show played out and like that the just embraced the full of silliness for what it is. Loved that Sweet Tooth got the flaming head in the end, so cool.
I'm a newcomer to twisted metal and I enjoyed it and i would recommend it to other newcomers to twisted metal as well Edit: more of my thoughts on the show... I think they released that first clip as either to downplay expectations because of the writers strike or a meta humor thing where in real life people were saying, "this is going to be an awful show and sweet tooth" and when the actual show releases the characters canonically say, "that was an awful show, sweet tooth" or i could be overthinking this
Watched it with my Son not sure what to expect and we freaking love this Show! Sweet Tooth is the best! The show as a whole was visually awesome, funny and had a great story! We can’t wait for Season 2
This show deserves more gratitude for the attention to detail with the characters and cars. Also the story telling was better then a lot of higher budget TV shows that have come out recently. Coming from someone who loved the games and has a very deep nostalgic connection to Twisted Metal 2 in particular, this was a very unexpected hit and gets a 8/10 in my books.
I'm not a gamer but I loved this show and I watched it all within 24 hours which I don't do with many shows. I want season 2 like right now. Mackie brings a John McClane or Axel Foley vibe which I loved and the whole cast was great.

I pretty much agree with ya, 3C. My only negative to add is the middle episodes dragged a little bit and you almost feel like the earlier episodes were from a different show. I give it a 7 or 8/10.
I finished watching this the other day and I absolutey loved this. It does take a few episodes to really get into it but then it becomes really engaging and fun.

I kept saying this is so stupid a lot of times through the middle but kept watching. Great characters and some hilarious voices!
Is it me, or has this been a semi- Renaissance year for game adaptations? With the acclaim of The Last of Us, the massive success of Mario, the fun of Twisted Metal, the uniqueness of Gran Turismo (I'll count it, but it could be removed since it's not directly based on the games), and the respect/hype for FNAF, it feels like higher quality than prior years
Plus the sonic movies
Might as well mention Netflix with its animation library with Arcana, The Cuphead Show, Sonic Prime and Castlevania.
All those are things that happened or started before 2023, so they didn't count
The best way to describe it is zombie land meets death race that would be the absolute best way to describe it 3c Films
I was pleasantly surprised by this show. Watching the trailers I thought it was going to be terrible but I’m glad I was wrong. The show is perfect by no means but it was good and I enjoyed it. I’m excited for season 2 and seeing the actual Twisted Metal tournament.

Put this show on while I painted and ended watching the whole season in one sitting. I loved this show not the best written but my monkey brain was completely entertained. Hopefully they’ll get a season 2 with a better budget for those effects. Might save money if they use fake blood instead of cgi blood?
This is the best review of the show I've seen. I agree with the back and forth between Quiet and John, I think it felt organic and i enjoyed all the drama and story telling and characters throughout the show.
That’s crazy Cris, I myself watched the first 3 episodes and ended up falling asleep during episode 3 on release day. Today I randomly decided I’d come back and watch it since I was bored and MAN, I ended not doing my laundry today because I binged watched the rest of the season! Soon as I finished I was thinking “Man I wonder if 3cfilms ever watched this since I haven’t seen a review post or anything” & what do you know, I go on RUclips and it says you posted this a few hours ago 😂
I hope that twisted metal gets renewed for a second season
It was kinda like mad max but with a bit of power ranger effects plus some gore along the way do I want ta continue this yes why not I'm definitely gonna want ta find out what's next that big race their setting up in season 2 sounds cool
Greatly the ending saved it, coz they set up Calypso's Tournament Which made all the pretty fuckin awesome, sometimes boring snd always campy lead up to that final AMAZING BATTLE alllllll worth it.
I agree about the trailer. I thought the show was going to be abysmal so I went in with the absolute lowest expectations which left me absolutely LOVING it. Frankly, this show ended up being better in every aspect than I ever thought it would be and I left happy.
I barely have any knowledge of the games (I've started playing Black recently and only played a little of the psp one) but this show ruled, was a unique story and world and had a ton of fun with it. Stoked for season 2!
Ive never played a twisted metal game ever but this show was a lot of fun!! And made sense for someone who doesnt know anything about the games!

Did ANYONE else notice Tony Stark's house in episode one?It was overgrown by trees and whatnot, but I recognized it immediately. If anyone's curious, the house shows up around 6:35 into ep. 1. Oh, and we were watching it at the same time! I was binge watching s.1 too. Lol
Perfect review. Twisted metal is a part of my child and adult hood. I saw the trailers and had NO hope. I watched anyway and i couldn't have been more surprised at how good it is
It was a nice good time watching it man. I have not played any of the games, but I do know some of it like Sweet Tooth and the car fights. Sweet Tooth was one of the best parts of the show. But it was nice to give the main characters and others more care in the show. Season 2 looks like its going to be another fun ride to watch too.
I didn't think any show could make me so sad and upset about a car dying.

I felt the exact same way from that first teaser. Also the one with Anthony Mackie dancing to "you're still my sunshine" both just put a horrible taste in my mouth. But I decided to check it out and was sincerely surprised how much I liked it. I don't do most TV shows, (commitment issues), but I definitely ended up binging this one. Once I remembered exactly what the games were about, I was able to embrace the ridiculousness of this series. Like Axel, literally just a dude in-between two big ass tractor tires with rockets strapped on his shoulders. lol That's the source material for this show, so I'm more than okay with how this show played out and like that the just embraced the full of silliness for what it is. Loved that Sweet Tooth got the flaming head in the end, so cool.
I'm a newcomer to twisted metal and I enjoyed it and i would recommend it to other newcomers to twisted metal as well
Edit: more of my thoughts on the show... I think they released that first clip as either to downplay expectations because of the writers strike or a meta humor thing where in real life people were saying, "this is going to be an awful show and sweet tooth" and when the actual show releases the characters canonically say, "that was an awful show, sweet tooth" or i could be overthinking this
Watched it with my Son not sure what to expect and we freaking love this Show! Sweet Tooth is the best! The show as a whole was visually awesome, funny and had a great story! We can’t wait for Season 2
This show deserves more gratitude for the attention to detail with the characters and cars. Also the story telling was better then a lot of higher budget TV shows that have come out recently. Coming from someone who loved the games and has a very deep nostalgic connection to Twisted Metal 2 in particular, this was a very unexpected hit and gets a 8/10 in my books.
Twisted metal must be a epic series so I'm excited to see this.

When I first started watching, I was hooked and binged the entire season. The show was amazing and kept me entertained. I hope it gets renewed
I'm not a gamer but I loved this show and I watched it all within 24 hours which I don't do with many shows. I want season 2 like right now. Mackie brings a John McClane or Axel Foley vibe which I loved and the whole cast was great.

I feel like that post credit cut scene could be alluding to sweet tooth creating tower tooth since it needs 2 drivers to operate. And then tower tooth potentially crashes the tournament at some point 🤔
Considering how much work they had to do to establish both the world and characters, it was pretty dope imo.
Hope we get a season 2 👀
One character I was hoping to see in the series was Mr. Grimm but you can’t deny Sweet Tooth is the most popular as he’s always on the cover
It was really good sweet tooth was the highlight of the show loved seeing characters I recognize from the games we must get a season 2 they teased so much at the end
I pretty much agree with ya, 3C. My only negative to add is the middle episodes dragged a little bit and you almost feel like the earlier episodes were from a different show. I give it a 7 or 8/10.

I used to play Twisted Metal Two with my dad when I was younger. He’d pick Shadow and I’d pick Spectre. Very nice to see that the series isn’t dead.
I always picked Grim because I loved motorcycles
I finished watching this the other day and I absolutey loved this. It does take a few episodes to really get into it but then it becomes really engaging and fun.
