Naturally, I wanted Cdr Tortuga to make mistakes early on, to enrich the character progression and series narrative. Thanks to Finnish for the thumbnail!
Since firing missiles gives your position away, it's almost always a good idea to first come up to PD and do a radar sweep in order to confirm the target's exact position and distance before firing.
The Huangphengs are small missile boats but pack quite a few anti-ship missiles into each. They pose a significant risk to shipping because they’re small, fast and pack a hell of a punch.
It's pretty unbelievable how you and Wolfpack are friends! I found your channel through the Mighty Jingles, and again Wolfpack's channel while searching the internet for some Sea Power videos. 🎉
South China is by far my favorite of the base game campaigns all of the subs are very fun in it and you can be very reckless as most combat is in escape depth waters
Hiya Tortuga! The book you're thinking of is "Blind Man's Bluff" by Sherry Sontag. If you ever meet Capt. Bill Toti (USN, Ret), don't bring it up. He thinks people should be in prison over the release of that book.
How the heck do you learn so much about these submarine games? Does Cold Waters have an amazing tutorial? Or is it just repetition? I'm coming from land-based wargames like Combat Mission and I really want to learn Cold Waters + Sea Power: Naval Combat in the Missile Age but I don't know where to learn the basics.
Man, I enjoyed your last seawolf campaign over wolfpack's because you were way more cautious and methodical about it. Going into this like a headless chicken and making silly mistakes is not as fun to watch
Are you saying this one was reckless? Besides not killing the Huangfengs, a mistake, I would say this is my usual level of caution. (Maybe it's reversed and you preferred Wolfpack because he is more cautious!)
@@TortugaPower Not reckless, just rushed. From not reading the mission objective to misidentifying that transport. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to be rude, imjust trying to give some constructive criticism

One must imagine the admiralty’s anger 😂
We totally understand. The campaign would be just too easy without giving yourself a disadvantage at the start.
You're welcome! Best thumbnails on RUclips
What could an "average" loadout consist of?
(For me, if I had CW: 32 ADCAP, 12 Harpoon/TLAM, 6 Moss.)
LOL! Thanks for the shout-out, my good friend. I'm looking forward to this!
Cheers
Oh you heard that? How embarrassing
What did you do to be an embarrassment?
@@gergocsanadi4770that as a joke he said he’s a big disappointment
@@coopergoebel9943 Whoops forgot he said disappointment in the beginning, I was trying to ask wolfpack what he did that caused it
So I'm not the only one who just had to play Cold Waters again after watching Sea Power videos?
Exactly!

A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one. Nice, Tortuga, will certainly enjoy this series!
Thank you, Mr. Graustreif

really excited for new cold waters series, also looking forward for your sea power gameplay!
I can't wait for your Sea Power playthroughs it's gonna be so good
Book is Blind Man's Bluff
Wolfpack345 Recommends you very highly. That's how I got here. And you do not disappoint. Great episode Thanks
New subscriber, great video, commentary and explanations. Loved it.
Very kind, thanks!
We wait for the next series!!
YES! I love this game.
South China is by far my favorite of the base game campaigns all of the subs are very fun in it and you can be very reckless as most combat is in escape depth waters
Also it is really funny using the la flight 3
The fact the Qiongsha doesn't show up in your tonnage means it was a civilian merchant ship. It is one of the few ships that can be enemy or civilian.
Thank you. Loved it!
U rusty bro, but major glad u back! Shout out to Wolfpack, he advised u on!!! Both of u my fav.s! Keep navigating Captains.
You and Wolfpack doing sub games now? I really need to continue my silent hunter 3, UBOAT and Cold waters saves...

They are all armed with antiship missiles... They are missile boats, after all...
Perhaps command should be a bit more clear on their orders. The orders were optional other than the large warship.
The 1968 setting on max difficulty is quite the challenge.
I've tried it in a Skipjack. I had to try to guide Soviet torpedoes back to their subs, since NATO ones are too slow.
yayy
Wolfpack snet me here and the first thing i hear is you call him a disappointment lol
Been waiting in hibernation for this
Ever think of returning to streaming? This might be a good game for that

It's an investment of time. Part playing, part reading forums/online material. And of course knowing about naval combat in the real world helps :)
Are you familiar at all with Cold Waters' clear spiritual predecessor, Red Storm Rising?
The Seawolf the F22 of the sea
Exactly, both my favorite in their domain.
Man I loved this game at some point but even with dotmod it proved somewhat repetitive and unforgiving.
Don't want to play the Sea Power?

Yes, the reading thing was a big mistake, easily avoidable -- a bonehead move.
Sank a civilian ship
War crime Wednesday
hahahaha ^^
Firing your Harps willy nilly... :D
I'd fire my TLAMs instead if I could. It's wasted torpedo/MOSS space!
