First time hearing this and I had no idea Maron and Burr were friends but my god, I can see exactly why theyre friends. Theyre both anxious, angry, intelligent, silly boys and I love their friendship 💙. They have such an ease between them. They could be brothers from another mother.
Hicks is not Carlin...he's Jim Morrison, elevated because he died, but just an average comic. It's like Lenny Bruce. He wasn't funny. And I like Burr...but he's so far from Carlin.
Not a fan of Marc Maron but his podcast always has great guests. Marc's open jealousy of comics more successful than him makes his standup a difficult listen. Sometimes it ruins the podcast interviews particularly when he's interviewing a comic who is way more talented than him. He comes off bitter. But will listen to anything Bill Burr did before the pandemic.

It's never too Late to fix things with old people. Bake him one of your pies. You'll be surprised how things will turn around. When you're going to market @ night ask him if he wants/needs something. Watch how things change.
Marc missed an opportunity at the start there to transition out of the intro by asking Bill about David Foster Wallace since Bill had DFW as a professor in college (it's crazy to me that Bill is a college graduate and Tim Dillon dropped out of high school - you would think it was the other way around).

Yes he does. It's harder to make a 30 year veteran stand up comic to laugh than a random podcast listener. I guarantee each one of them caught every joke even if they didn't laugh.

Henry Rollins talks about his father being an asshole..Nothing compared to what I went thru. I can't believe I @ age of 57, I am not in prison from later conflicts in life with tough guys. Who by the way, have no Idea how close they came to getting put under the earth 6 feet. Local Yokel dumbass tough guys are only protected by the high school rules when dealing with grown men.
Marc's typical line of questioning: Marc: Are you Jewish? I'm Jewish. Marc: You ever been to Israel? Why not? Marc: What do you think of Judaism? Are you an east coast Jew? Marc: Being Jewish is cool, don't you think? I suggest Marc schedule more black guests. The line of questioning would probably go something like this: Marc: Now, black guy, you're probably fully aware of the drain on society your race has put on the United States. Is this something that the black man has the interest and/or ability to improve? Black guy: *open mouth blank stare Marc: *quizzical blank stare Black guy: *quizzical blank stare, long pause Marc: ummm... Black guy: wey awl da wite wimenz be at??? Marc: Are you Jewish? I'm Jewish.
