Praise and thanks that this footage still exists. It is wonderful that I get to see Judith from her teens to her sixties. My heart is broken that she has passed us by. I will never forget her. I have seen her in concert several times, met her and talked to her, and loved every minute of being with her.
Absolutely among the best that ever were, including (but not limited to), Janis Joplin, Tracy Newman, Gracie Slick, Kiri Te Kanawa, and Linda Ronstadt... Kudos, each and every one of you..! :)
I have been listening to Judith for almost four years and this remarkable performance revealed something: Judith never shouts. In this rendition she sings loudly, as necessary for the tone of the message in the song, but she sings loudly producing ( as usual) perfectly tuned sounds , wrapped in harmonics that we only know they are possible because Judith is capable of producing them.
Just recently been watching a lot of Judith & the Seekers old videos, it's really incredible to find that they just never seem to fail when singing these perfect songs that are just tailor made for Judith's special voice. Prior to listening to this song I found another great tune on hear " When the stars begin to fall "
Interestingly, Kiri te Kanawa started her career as _not_ an opera singer, until someone told her she could be. I have a CD somewhere of her from her nightclub days, and I actually prefer it. (I'm not a great fan of the soprano sound.)
@@G6JPG I am a life long fan of clssical music but no expert. It seems to me that operatic singing takes away a lot of the potential creativity of the singer since he is actually expected to produce the ( pure ?) notes in that given style of singing. Is a tenor or soprano allowed to wrap the notes with harmonics of his own choice? I dont think so. But this is exactly what Judith does and makes her voice so outstanding for folk and jazz . Judith singing in the operatic style would be a waste.
Thank you once again richi I don’t think I have found seekers song I haven’t liked you have given me an idea of doing a minidisc of the seekers rarities brilliant
Just out of interest, I love the choice of music by the way, WHY the Seekers??? You're not that old like me, lol!!! Judith Durham is invincible, I think! I could sit and listen to her forever. Hi Judith 🌷🌷 I bet she never reads these!!! Xx
This arrangement of "Study War No War" is unique to World of the Seekers. The other version they recorded as the B Side to "Days of My Life" has a piano into and a different overall feel. Both versions are about as close as the Seekers get to a more jazzy American style.
Very nice lot of Gospel Songs there Richard how many are there they're brilliant well done to you recording them all together very nice too interesting Jeanette might like to hear them she might be on WhatsApp but not sure!!!? I ve shared this for Louise. She lives in Dover. Xxxx
Sort of Jazz/Gospel. Not my taste at all. But clearly Judith is having a ball, and her enthusiasm is infectious! (As well as, being 1968, she's in a miniskirt!)
You say "I've upmixed the mono sound to stereo using digital separation techniques and corrected the speed of the video so that the audio plays at the right pitch."; I'm not sure why upmixing to stereo should change the pitch ?!? Or do you mean the video (and thus its audio) was recorded on equipment running at the wrong speed - or that the performance itself that was videoed (including audio) _was_ in your opinion at the wrong pitch?
The video was recorded on film @24fps, PAL video plays at 25fps, so around 4% faster than it should be - I just corrected that on the video so that it matched the CD audio. I then upmixed it 👍
@@rich963 Ah, so you're saying the DVD was made 1:1 framewise from the film rather than correcting it, so actually played 25/24 too fast (and presumably with a corresponding pitch shift), but the CD was made from separately-recorded tapes that were used at the right speed - so the DVD was about half a semitone higher than the CD (I reckon a semitone is 8 1/3 %). I know TV material (for drama and e. g. news) that was shot on film that was intended to be used on air actually used cameras running at 25 fps, but I guess such cameras were uncommon, and whoever shot the film only had a 24fps one.
Dear Judith Durham in Heaven forever and ever RIP with angels and Jesus Christ forever
Its staggering how stunningly gorgeous Judith is here. Just an incredibly beautiful woman in body, mind and soul!
It is impossible to stay still during this remarkable performance. Judith-s voice simply commands your attention.

Great song love Judith and the Seekers RIP Judith
This is what music sounds like when you're at your peak, loving it, and full of confidence in you're ability.
Great comment. All that. 👍🏻
And that peak lasted a very long time. Laughable that this was referred to as jazz, though.
I love the seekers
Congratulations
God bless you❤❤❤❤😅
She is just beautiful, inside and out.
This song is really strong with judith jazz here too

Perfection.
Forgive me, I have no feel for true Jazz or true Blues. But I appreciate great voices. Judith has one of those.
Wau yet a song with that beautiful voice.

I would call your attention also to the early 1963 recording of When the stars begin to fall by the seekers in the beginning of their work together.
Judith has the most beautiful voice. Rest in peace.
What a magnificent voice and performance!!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🌹🌹🌹🌷
Hermosisima Judith
Awesome voice! Beautiful woman! - A Yank in Georgia
I’m glad she didn’t become an opera singer because her voice would have been lost to all of us.
Interestingly, Kiri te Kanawa started her career as _not_ an opera singer, until someone told her she could be. I have a CD somewhere of her from her nightclub days, and I actually prefer it. (I'm not a great fan of the soprano sound.)

It was. For years she followed her love of jazz which most people hate. That's why she was hardly heard of till she rejoined the Seekers.
@@osvaldoschilling9129 Having to sing notes stifles creativity! Why not just shout out the words however you feel them? Why play in tune?
Yeah no one's ever heard of any opera singers, right?
Thanks❤
Notice David McCallum as Illya Kuryakin on a poster on the wall. David still going strong.
thank you l love seekers I grow up listings to there music
I wonder if those sitting at the tables listening realised that they were hearing a voice for the ages. I think a couple did.
rich963 it sounds like judith durham singing more in jazz here too
I already wrote letters to the Grammy's and the Oscar's and the AMA here too

Thanks mate, “the voice” singing words just as relevant today, and your work helps us remember the dream that is being lost. Keep going, please!
Still can’t believe that she is gone.😂
@rich963 - thanks so much for collating the Seekers catalogue and placing it on RUclips. A very worthy task!
