    I wouldn't consider taking care of my imbalances and weaknesses 5 years back...but one pain after another started to arise until I realized that I have crooked low back. I couldnt admit that training caused this kind of problem but eventually I had to modify and listen to Matt Wenning. At the moment, whatever I do in or outside the gym I make sure it dosnt cause neck o back pain. I will keep working towrads a pain free sronger life and I will search for better consultation. Thanks Matt!
    Ps:The ortho told me to wear a brace and stop doing what I do and the physio suggested me only stretching.(basically he and she didnt know how to approach the problem)

    A very thorough and insight piece from a man who went from a wheelchair to a world record holder and just weeks ago squatted 500 for 24 repetitions. Matt’s experience and influences from other strength experts like Mike Boyle shine here. The story of the Bulgarian selection process for lifters is interesting. I appreciate how Matt can provide such helpful content, in such a straight forward manner.

    thank you for explaining these things. I hurt my back so badly I couldn't walk. This should be common knowledge and being taught in PE class. A lot of back injuries are imbalances and injuries not being fixed properly.

    You are right Matt about the lower back I bought a back extension from my neighbours and that has been a staple for wenning warm ups it has helped out greatly even just using body weight to warm up the hamstrings and glutes. Doing Bulgarian split squats has been humbling how bad I am at them but they are very useful

    Excellent video with lots of great information! Unilateral work is very important for long term gains. You don't realize your asymmetries until you have heavy weight on your back and get into the hole. Doing all this work on the front end will pay off on the back end!

    Hi Matt. I really like your channel and have been learning a lot. I am 16 and have been lifting for 3 years. I squatted 405 at the begging of the year and then broke my right leg a week later. I have been trying to slowly build my squat back up and have really been hammering my posterior chain including my Glute meads. I have also been doing unilateral work because I have a pretty big imbalance between my right and left leg. what would you suggest for loading on the squat until I get my legs evened back out?

    • @WenningStrength
      @WenningStrength  2 года назад +2

      Don’t do any bilateral stuff until that size and strength imbalance is corrected. Could cause hip and back issues.

    Matt, should I stretch more? I don't stretch at all to be honest. My squats are getting better but I am looking to take my squats to an elite level. I want my gluten, hamstrings and quads firing. I know it depends on my stance but I want to get as much as I can get out of my legs. I know I can get super legs even at 60 years old. I'm not giving up and I will get the physique I want.
