Man I’m always glad to catch a video from you. Been here since I was 11-13 years old. Now I’m 20 and experienced a lot of bs. Theres one thing I know, atleast Apollo is here is to keep the entertainment.
It was the most historical battle with the best introduction to the context that you have ever done; I hope you keep this new format for the next ones and the battle was intervened.
This was a cool change of pace from ur videos of late! I’m definitely enjoying what you’ve been doing but I always love a historical battle reenactment!
I follow epic history too and other channels like it and this type of hybrid content, it is definitely revolutionar. I'm surprised someone else hasn't done it yet.
Really great video, i enjoyed. If i can ask, what is actually your favourite historical era? Just asking and thank you for your content and answer. Of course anyone feel free to answer. I am more like historical enjoyer may i say.
I am not familiar with the Medieval Kingdoms 1212 AD mod very well, but it sure was a strange choice of factions to represent Muscovy and Crimean Khanate. I think that Crimean Khanate should be represented by Cumans, if they exist in the mod, since Crimean Khans claimed to be heirs of Cuman legacy. If there are no Cumans, then Tatars or Mongols would definitely fit better then Moldavians. And for Russians, while using Kiev is not that big of a mistake, it still seems weird considering that during this time period Kiev was part of Lithuania and not Muscovy. Vladimir-Suzdal (or Rostov-Suzdal) would be the perfect choice (since Moscow originated as a part of that principality), but Novgorod or Ryazan also would fit better (since those realms were included into Muscovy by that time).
Glad to see gunfire is improved in the mod. Looking forward to see if they'll improve it even further by adding fire by rank instead of whole squad firing.
Do a tournament of MK 1212 AD on your channel, and cover at least final battle! This mod is very popular, and you get new members too by doing it. Win win for everyone..
Would have been funny if the ottomans won in this playthrough even though it didn't. Honestly was going to write a alternate history script for funbased on this if that happened. Nice battle though
Iirc Medieval 2 Russia wasn't that bad. Throw in mercenaries and you can get some good things going. Meanwhile with mods you can have 3-4 factions in there with even more depth.
Ironic in that the Streltsy were quick in adopting Western Style weapons such as Matchlocks ,Arquebus later Flintlocks. This time period Muskets or Shots were inferior, Cannon also in this period slow, lumbering fire, not accurate where a group of tartars could ride quickly to the enemy Cannon Crew and fill them full of arrows .Bow Arrow Missiles from light Cavalry like Tartars """OUTRANGED"""muskets and caused alot of casualty among massed Pike Shot Infantry even Heavy Cavalry, Tartar arrows could easily penetrate some heavy armored Cavalry or take down the horse,I play that game from Matrix called """PIKE AND SHOT"""and Missile Archery from Light fast moving Cavalry create alot of casualties and chaos ,also its hard to engage them because they retreat quickly, those are the """FASTEST""" Units on the Battlefield during that time period, they were used for hit and run, charge up, stay out of enemy musket and enemy archery range( Their arrows had longer ranges than other nations with similar cavalry)and launch volleys of arrows than quickly ride away before you can approach them with your units. I think one of the """DEADLIEST""" units on the Battlefield until the beginning of the 18th century with Mass Musket Volleys and increased ranges including Cannons out paced out ranged Tartar Light Cavalry including introduction of firearmed European Light Cavalry
Russians during that time period used both horse archers (the Dvorians - Russian feudal militia, as well as allied/mercenary Tatars) and infantrymen with guns (the Streltsy, who were semi-regular infantry units recruited mostly among townsfolk). The problem is that you need a lot of training to be effective as a horse archer, so only military aristocracy or Steppe nomads were able to fight that way. And since most Russians were either peasants or townsfolk, they had to use different style of fighting - and equipping them with guns, bardiche axes and sabers was quite effective.
Pronounced """STREL - SEA"""" how you would say it, the Streltsy were Royal Guards created by Ivan, became powerful Politically like the Ottoman Janissaries and Roman Praetorian Guards, propped up rulers that they liked, they didn,t like you they got rid of you.Peter the Great worked hard to get rid of them since they blocked any westernization of Russia, wanted Russia to remain """OLD SCHOOL""",so Peter created his own Westernized Regiments with foreign Dutch German help and destroyed them.

What an epic introduction to the battle, well done on that part
Goated video. Love the usage of content from one of my favorite channels being incorporated into another one of my favorite channels. W Apollo
My feelings exactly. I love epic history and their coverage of events putting them into an Apollo video *chefs kiss
I think this might be the earliest I’ve ever been for an Apollo video
Fr
My record is at 16 minutes
@ mine is three now lol
This was a cool change of pace from ur videos of late! I’m definitely enjoying what you’ve been doing but I always love a historical battle reenactment!
Epic History TV is freaking insane. Their videos of Napoleonic history are the best i have ever see
Love you Apollo been watching you for 6 years and you never fail to entertain and you got me into history
Really great video Apollo. You definitely put some hard work into this.
Actually in russian Ivan wasn't remembered as "Terrible". Closest word by meaning to "Грозный" in english language is "Fearsome".
Or maybe "Terrifying".
I know I’m 5 days late but I loved your old videos so I’m usually 5 years late but I love this one
dude i love how you do your videos thank you so much for the entertainment!

Nice one Apollo. Using Epic History to set the sine is a great idea. Every time I watch your videos I want to start a new campaign.
I love the historic context before the battle starts
Big Scale of battle always look amazing 🎉
That was a great narrative intro.
I respect the historical of context! Gives more "steaks" to the battle
Words are hard, but this video hits harder.
Epic History TV? My man! Been subscribed to them for quite a long time.
Not the audible scoff I did every time Apollo said, " Thick of it"
