I actually just came from a 12 Pro Max to the 15 Pro Max and I think it’s worth the upgrade. I only upgrade every 2-3 years and happy I decided to get this one. It’s going to be different for everyone but the standout points for me are the Battery, Display, Camera and the ability to play upcoming games for it when I’m at work. In regular use such as scrolling social media or searching the web, I personally can’t see much difference but it feels like a nice upgrade for me.
I upgraded from the iPhone 12 Pro Max to the iPhone 15 Pro Max primarily because I accidentally damaged one of the camera lenses, and my network provider offered me a great deal on the upgrade, which made economic sense. However, in terms of everyday use, I haven't noticed any significant differences. While the iPhone 15 Pro is indeed smoother, this improvement is not easily noticeable unless you're comparing the two devices side by side. As for the 120 Hz refresh rate, it seems to be a bit overhyped, especially by RUclipsrs. In regular use, it's not something that most people will notice, unless they're actively comparing devices. In reality, very few of us do that in our day-to-day activities. In my opinion, most of the newer smartphones are fast enough for 99.9% of users. If your older phone is still meeting your needs and performing well, there's no rush to upgrade. Only consider an upgrade if it's absolutely necessary.
My Ipad with the A12 chip is more than powerful enough for the things I use it for. With that in mind, my Iphone 12 pro, with the A14 chip should easily last me a few more years before upgrading.
Me and my wife both came from the iPhone 13 Pro Max phones to the iPhone 15 Pro Max phones and we are extremely happy with the choice. We had those phones for 2 years and we are not the every year upgraders. This was an easy choice for us to make. We are not worried about the durability on the phones. We both use a case and screen protector on both phones and we do not drop or mishandle the phones. When we trade in our old devices, the person at the store always says "WOW, these are still new phones" and we just say we take care of our phones and smile and wait for the new ones to be ready for use.

Great video as always, Aaron. One thing to consider also (especially if you are considering going from the 14 series to the 15series: If you bought a 14 Pro Max on sale from the carrier when they were offering $1K off the retail price in the form of monthly rebates, in order to take full advantage of that sale, you would HAVE to keep your 14 Pro Max for the entire time, which would amount to three years. If you upgrade early, you would either have to trade the phone in or pay it off entirely. If you paid the balance off entirely, you lose the monthly rebates of course, meaning that you would be responsible for the remaining cost sans rebates. The 15 Pro Max is about a month or so old? Apple's hardware QC has surely taken two steps back this year. The screen is definitely concerning but it doesn't matter because most people tend to use a tempered glass screen protector anyway. What I can't believe is that there's already so many chips on the 15 Pro Max... Aside from the two mentioned by Mr. Zollo, I noticed quite a few more. At 1:19, there's a chip/discoloration on the bottom lens, at 2:05, there's a chip above the action button on the edge. Even if one uses a case, dust will almost certainly get in and scratch, or rather chip the frame. This phone will age like milk left out in the sun. As someone who has OCD with regard to such things, this phone is a big NO from my side, considering I tend to keep my iPhones 3-4 years; not to mention the resale/exchange of this phone down the year would go down with such defects coming into play over time. P.S It's also hilarious that the 15 Pro Max lost to a 3 year old iPhone in video rendering, lol.
I upgraded from my 12 pro max to 15 pro max. Previously I don’t think 120hz is a big deal but now using it, I don’t think can go back to 60hz display. Also, I feel it right away when holding the 15 pro max, it’s lighter than 12 pro max.
Im with pacific Blue 12 pro max and all features are quite updated from my needs. Cameras are good. @512GB Capacity. I love it making and receiving calls and emails, it’s on iOS 17 . I don’t really have any plans for updates very soon. Thanks for the advice and taking time to make this video.
Why are no you tubers doing videos showing that indoors the 12 pro max camera has sharper clarity and more alive colors than 15 pro max even with raw mode
I like the new iPhones but I don’t like the action button, I prefer this silent switch. I would love to see them include both, put the silent switch in the spot where it was and move the action button above the power button.
The main problem which we are not accepting is the software which is intentionally not optimised or made to affect the battery life for the older models. This is how Apple is forcing people to upgrade on new iPhones. I can prove it easily as I am currently using 14 Pro Max with 88% battery health on iOS 16.7.2 and it is still giving me 8-9 hrs SOT as day 1. When I had the iPhone 12 before, I was getting 6-7 hrs SOT with 93% battery health till iOS 15.7 or 16 came out and when I just updated to 15.7 thinking 16 might not be stable enough? It actually made it worse decreasing my SOT to just 3 hours. Isn't that strange? Both 15.7 and 16 were made to affect its battery life on purpose. I thought maybe it needs some days to do the processing as how the other RUclipsr says but it never improved and I ended up getting the 14 Pro Max. Also, I was using the 5W charger and never got an overheating warning. Thoughts?
currently i am using iPhone 12 pro max, compering with 15 pro max some key features like dynamic island, action button, cinematic camera mode, etc.. if really want to use these features I'll says it's time to upgrade, but for me these features didn't let want to upgrade currently, my 12 pro max still have good performance, good camera and still supported for next couple years, just need to change battery, my battery health is 78% and still can handle almost full day
Nice video 🎉 I love these comparisons. I have an iPhone 13 and will stay on it for a while. I will maybe upgrade when the iPhone 16 comes out or even when the iPhone 17 comes out, we’ll see. Keep up making such great videos. Thanks 😊
i enjoy watching these videos, and have the 13 pro personally, and am gauging on when to upgrade myself as i don’t do it every year. this is my first long term iphone (briefly used 2nd gen SE before the 13 pro), and have had it since December of 2021. i’ll wait to see what the 16 has to offer and go from there.
Coming from a 12 Pro Max to a 15 Pro Max my experience with battery life is quite different. So far stand-by times seem to be about equal. But for some reason (settings, apps and usage are basically the same) my new 15 Pro Max drains signifcantly faster than my 12 when it was new. I would compare it to my 12 when it was maybe 1,5 - 2 years old. Two days on my 15 is not possible even with a new battery. So far I have no definite conclusion on why that is. Maybe the Always-On in part, maybe 120Hz, maybe iOS 17.1? Today I can easily live with it, but 2 years down the line? One day could get to be a stretch... So far the only let-down by an otherwise great update. Maybe iOS 17.2 etc. will give some improvement?!
I personally liked The Bull of the images created with the iPhone 12…they seemed a bit more vibrant , whereas the 15 pics seemed a bit more muted. I’m no professional, just my observation
Upgraded from the excellent 12 pro max for the ProMotion display, camera system and 1 TB Storage. And wow! 3 years of new (to me) features is a delight.
It’s really kind of sad that Apple scrapped 120hz from the 12 as it was supposed to be the first iPhone with 120hz and a bigger battery but due to COVID I guess all those got scrapped
Awesome video! Really helps me make my decision with iPhones! One thing I have noticed every year is that if you compare two exact iPhones, one may not focus as sharp as the other! Now your comparison of Iphone 12 and 15 shows a higher contrast with the 15 and also cooler color with 15 whereas 12 has a warmer tone!
Bought a second hand IPhone 12 Pro Max, after years on Android. Love the 12. In a certain time I will upgrade, now the 12 is still enjoyable and sufficient.
Aaron, I’ve been waiting on this video! So glad you made this one! Currently running a 12 PM. Battery is at 85% and my true depth sensor is dead, so no Face ID or portrait mode. I’m still using a 12 Pro Max and really like it. I do like the 15 Pro Max based on what I know about it but I think I will wait a little longer to upgrade. Either to the 15 PM sometime next year (if before the Summer) or, more likely, wait for the 16 Pro Max! 😊
I already have a 12 Pro Max. I do a lot of photography so am considering an upgrade. The big question is that now the 15 Pro Max has been with us for some time is it best to go for this model or wait just a bit longer for a 16? I know, there is always something better on the horizon, however, the next iPhoen i buy will have to do me for teh next 3 to 4 years so do I hold on that little bit longer???
The 12PM and 15PM look so similar. The iPhone X was a massive upgrade. The 11 Pro Max was a big upgrade. For the average user, in everyday use, the 12/13/14/15 Pro Max are very small upgrades. Photographers and mobile gamers will notice the changes. The average user will see and experience a very similar phone. Of course everyone is an above average user 😉
It’s amazing to me how good the iPhone 12 Pro Max actually still is! I don’t see so much difference, many pictures I like even more on the iPhone 12 Pro max. Only the picture from the stars ⭐️ at night is definitely better on the 15 pro max. I have money enough but still have the IPhone 12 Pro max. I think I will upgrade to the 16 Pro max.
I’m looking for a touch screen carrying purse and I notice that it only goes up to iPhone 13 Pro Max. I’m getting a iPhone 15 pro max. Do you think they are close enough to fit in the same type of case?
Thanks for the video! It made me decide to keep my 12 Pro Max for another year. I honestly don’t see a meaningful feature to upgrade (really personal opinion). My 12 pro max still works like a charm after more than 3 years.
I switched from the iPhone 12 PM last week & it’s a nice upgrade. I’ve been using my iPhone 15 Pro Max at full charge for the past hour & it’s still showing 100% battery power. Up until the iPhone 11, I always needed a battery glove while not near a charger for the day but starting with the 12 Pro Max, that was no longer necessary. Battery power is a game changer. I also recommend a clear plastic glove (I never use a screen protector) for any phone for durability. I dropped my iPhone several times over the years & have never had a scuff.
Only reason I upgraded to 15 PM is USB-C. Otherwise my 12 Pro Max was totally fine. Always on display, Brightness and Battery life are amazing in 15 PM though.
I think I’m going to jump from the 12 pro max to the normal 15 pro. I don’t really like the pro max size. I only got it for the battery life but considering how the normal 15 pro has about the same battery life as the 12 pro max when it first came out, I’ll be fine. My Apple Watch Ultra is the main device I use throughout the day anyhow. My phone will last me 2 days easy because I just barely use it
I still have the 12 Pro Max currently. I got it when they came out. Battery life is still 85%. I am thinking of upgrading to the 15 Pro Max mainly for the camera upgrades being I believe you said a lot of the other differences were only slightly noticeable day to day. My question is: what is the data transfer speed differences between these (lightening and USB-C)? Highly noticeable? Thanks!
12 pro max here: not excited to spend that amount of money for that kind of minor upgrade…no foldable Apple ? galaxy fold 5 or One plus open are the same price here (Canada) than a 15 pro max 256…
Great video, thanks for the presentation. I am using iPhone 12 64 GB (don't know if I should say "still") :-D but other than new design and slightly better battery, I don't see reason to upgrade?

P.S It's also hilarious that the 15 Pro Max lost to a 3 year old iPhone in video rendering, lol.
I upgraded from my 12 pro max to 15 pro max. Previously I don’t think 120hz is a big deal but now using it, I don’t think can go back to 60hz display.
Also, I feel it right away when holding the 15 pro max, it’s lighter than 12 pro max.
Definitely a huge upgrade
Im with pacific Blue 12 pro max and all features are quite updated from my needs. Cameras are good. @512GB Capacity. I love it making and receiving calls and emails, it’s on iOS 17 . I don’t really have any plans for updates very soon. Thanks for the advice and taking time to make this video.
I upgraded from the 12 pro to the 15 pro. Enjoying the new phone so far. 24 mp and 48 mp photos are a great improvement. 👍
Been waiting for this review! iPhone 12 pro max user here
Why are no you tubers doing videos showing that indoors the 12 pro max camera has sharper clarity and more alive colors than 15 pro max even with raw mode
I can prove it easily as I am currently using 14
Pro Max with 88% battery health on iOS 16.7.2 and it is still giving me 8-9 hrs SOT as day 1.
Thoughts?
I upgraded from 12 Pro to 15 Pro, no words.. Apple has done amazing improvements.
actually upgrading from 12 pro max to 15 pro max in a few days
Watching on my iPhone 12 until something comes out that doesn’t give me buyers remorse 😂
currently i am using iPhone 12 pro max, compering with 15 pro max some key features like dynamic island, action button, cinematic camera mode, etc.. if really want to use these features I'll says it's time to upgrade, but for me these features didn't let want to upgrade currently, my 12 pro max still have good performance, good camera and still supported for next couple years, just need to change battery, my battery health is 78% and still can handle almost full day
Solid info as always. Appreciate your diligence and sensible approach (implied controversy by others, for clicks, is so overcooked).
Thanks, Aaron. I really enjoy these iPhone comparison videos.
Excellent comparison video Arron thank you for sharing that information
Nice video 🎉 I love these comparisons. I have an iPhone 13 and will stay on it for a while. I will maybe upgrade when the iPhone 16 comes out or even when the iPhone 17 comes out, we’ll see.
Keep up making such great videos. Thanks 😊
Great content
Aaron, I just wanted to say thank you for the time and work you put on making this video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
i enjoy watching these videos, and have the 13 pro personally, and am gauging on when to upgrade myself as i don’t do it every year. this is my first long term iphone (briefly used 2nd gen SE before the 13 pro), and have had it since December of 2021. i’ll wait to see what the 16 has to offer and go from there.
Great Review
Had the 12PM and went to the 15P. It’s been a great experience. Took some great senior photos yesterday w/ my twins
Thanks for the comparison. I have a 12pro max and considering changing up to the 15pro max so this was really useful 😊
I personally liked The Bull of the images created with the iPhone 12…they seemed a bit more vibrant , whereas the 15 pics seemed a bit more muted. I’m no professional, just my observation
I had the 12 pro max back in 2021, i recommend not upgrading, its still premium and good
I upgraded from 12 Pro to 15 Pro, great upgrade, camera a massive improvement for me
Where did you download your wallpaper
I upgraded from 12prp to the 15pro and for me the basic phone user I don’t notice to much difference
Same. I can’t really notice anything different except better camera.
Thank you for being honest. The 15PM does not look like a “huge upgrade” to me either.
I'm pretty sure the outdoor brightness for the 12 pro max is closer too 800nits, 1200nits is the peak hdr brightness.
Got your notification aaron
Where can I get that wallpaper?
Awesome video! Really helps me make my decision with iPhones! One thing I have noticed every year is that if you compare two exact iPhones, one may not focus as sharp as the other! Now your comparison of Iphone 12 and 15 shows a higher contrast with the 15 and also cooler color with 15 whereas 12 has a warmer tone!
Love that South Carolina fall season ❤
Can you do iphone 15 vs 11 please
Bought a second hand IPhone 12 Pro Max, after years on Android. Love the 12. In a certain time I will upgrade, now the 12 is still enjoyable and sufficient.
Why there is difference between the temperature in weather app?
Aaron, I’ve been waiting on this video! So glad you made this one! Currently running a 12 PM. Battery is at 85% and my true depth sensor is dead, so no Face ID or portrait mode. Other than that phone is in excellent condition. I’m going to keep using this until it goes for now, until I see a reason that I truly need to upgrade. Thanks again for your insight and amazing content! ✌🏾
I absolutely agree with you 100%. If I could get an amazing deal on an upgrade, I definitely would. Is 120Hz that much smoother? Thank you for this reply.

@@babeyoulove1883smart 💯💯
For how long goes your 85% battery ? How can you use it pls small insight
@@herrmanncs now it’s at 78%. I just deal with it for now. Not sure whether or not to use my insurance to get a new 12PM or just run it into the ground. I still get about 9 hours out of the battery.
Wow . Walking in fall season time is so amazing 🎉
Hello 👋 how can I upgrade my airtage please 🙏?
16 pro max hopefully!
How much
I’ll be upgrading to a 15 Pro/Max from my XS next year, and am hoping that Apple release a mid-year colour, like they did when my kids got their green 13 Pros. I never liked the weight of their phone, so very happy to see the Titanium, not to mention the USB-C.
Thanks, as always, for the content.
That was the video that I qas expecting!!!! Because I have the 12 Pro Max and I’m wanted to that comparison but I didn’t have anyone with a 15 Pro Max to do that comparison… SO THANK YOU SO MUCH as always Aaron! GOD BLESS YOU SIR!
WoW great review and exactly what I was looking for...again, such a great in depth review with awesome demos!
Great review I gonna stick with the 12 for awhile after watching this . Where can I find that Wallpaper Aaron
hey does anyone know where he got the sunrise widget from?
Thankyou for sharing! Godbless
I’m still using a 12 Pro Max and really like it. I do like the 15 Pro Max based on what I know about it but I think I will wait a little longer to upgrade.
Either to the 15 PM sometime next year (if before the Summer) or, more likely, wait for the 16 Pro Max! 😊
Does the 120hz screen on the 14 pro max deal with PWM too?
I already have a 12 Pro Max. I do a lot of photography so am considering an upgrade. The big question is that now the 15 Pro Max has been with us for some time is it best to go for this model or wait just a bit longer for a 16? I know, there is always something better on the horizon, however, the next iPhoen i buy will have to do me for teh next 3 to 4 years so do I hold on that little bit longer???
Same. Did you decide do upgrade?
@@elizabethsartor9543 I decided to wait for the 16
Could I fit a iPhone 12 Pro case on my iPhone 15?
The 12PM and 15PM look so similar. The iPhone X was a massive upgrade. The 11 Pro Max was a big upgrade. For the average user, in everyday use, the 12/13/14/15 Pro Max are very small upgrades. Photographers and mobile gamers will notice the changes. The average user will see and experience a very similar phone. Of course everyone is an above average user 😉
Best feature for me with the action button was to create a simple shortcut for Play/Pause music.
I just upgraded. Thanks for the video ❤
14:30 music name please??
Listed in the description
It’s amazing to me how good the iPhone 12 Pro Max actually still is! I don’t see so much difference, many pictures I like even more on the iPhone 12 Pro max. Only the picture from the stars ⭐️ at night is definitely better on the 15 pro max. I have money enough but still have the IPhone 12 Pro max. I think I will upgrade to the 16 Pro max.
I have a 14 Pro at the moment, I regret not getting the Pro Max thanks to the battery, I’m likely going to upgrade to the 16 Pro Max next year
I’m looking for a touch screen carrying purse and I notice that it only goes up to iPhone 13 Pro Max. I’m getting a iPhone 15 pro max. Do you think they are close enough to fit in the same type of case?
Wich iOS do you have on your 12 pro max?
Ok cool. I’ll be saving another $1,100 this year. I’ve saved $3,300 ! I’ll wait till something legitimately noteworthy occurs.
I agree
The 15 does not feel heavy enough. I prefer the weight of the earlier models (12, 13 and 14)
Thank you!!! Fully agreed that 15 is super light weight
Would be great to get this same comparison for a 16 pro max to a 12 pro max
He’s quite literally comparing apples to apples 🤣😭
just made the upgrade today and I have to say that I am not so impressed with the camera. The 12 PM had one of the best balanced lenses and cameras
I upgraded from 12 PM graphite to 15 PM Titanium Blue. Pretty happy!
Hello I hope you will make a comparison video for 14 pro max and 15 pro max. Most of them are confused between 14 and 15 pro series.
Thanks for the video! It made me decide to keep my 12 Pro Max for another year. I honestly don’t see a meaningful feature to upgrade (really personal opinion). My 12 pro max still works like a charm after more than 3 years.
Great wallpapers
Just wondering if anyone got a status update about the shipping of the MacBook Pro 14 M3 Pro. It still says preparing to ship !
Exactly the video I was looking for, I have a 12promax. Trying to decide for a while and this helps. Getting a 15pm. Thanks
I already chose what I wanted and I now have it and that’s the iPhone 15 Pro Max. I never get bored over it.
Still 12 PM since 2021💪 88% battery health.
I was going to wait a year to update from our 112 Pro Max phones, but the batteries were dropping fast. After a month, I am happy with the switch.
I’m about to get the iPhone 12 Pro Max Tuesday
Only reason I upgraded to 15 PM is USB-C. Otherwise my 12 Pro Max was totally fine. Always on display, Brightness and Battery life are amazing in 15 PM though.
Which one has bigger screen 12 pro max or 15 pro max ?
I think I’m going to jump from the 12 pro max to the normal 15 pro. I don’t really like the pro max size. I only got it for the battery life but considering how the normal 15 pro has about the same battery life as the 12 pro max when it first came out, I’ll be fine. My Apple Watch Ultra is the main device I use throughout the day anyhow. My phone will last me 2 days easy because I just barely use it
is the 12-pro max worth an upgrade from my iPhone Xr ?
which is a better upgrade from my Xr, 12 Pro Max or Regular 13?
Probably 12 Pro
I still have the 12 Pro Max currently. I got it when they came out. Battery life is still 85%. I am thinking of upgrading to the 15 Pro Max mainly for the camera upgrades being I believe you said a lot of the other differences were only slightly noticeable day to day. My question is: what is the data transfer speed differences between these (lightening and USB-C)? Highly noticeable? Thanks!
It is 20x faster on usb c
12 pro max here: not excited to spend that amount of money for that kind of minor upgrade…no foldable Apple ? galaxy fold 5 or One plus open are the same price here (Canada) than a 15 pro max 256…
Great video, thanks for the presentation. I am using iPhone 12 64 GB (don't know if I should say "still") :-D but other than new design and slightly better battery, I don't see reason to upgrade?
Thank you for sharing your experience. It is true that most people that still have an iPhone 15 pro max do look into the iPhone 15 pro max for an upgrade. I feel just like this is a personalized video and I want to double down on how it is appreciated. You are always devoted and really go into the details power users are totally into, and I thank you for that. Keep up the great work!! ❤❤
