And it's not just Assassin's Creed, there is a growing number of people who seriously say things like "Yasuke was a great samurai, so it's discriminatory that black people aren't shown in period dramas" and "Japanese people are hiding the achievements of black people", which has caused a stir.

Yes, you can create fake content that rewrites religion if you declare that is fake content and it is not real, the problem is when you try to pass fake content as real
"if there is a depiction that blasphemes your religion, is that acceptable because it's a game" Didn't Assassin's Creed already do that with the whole "Catholic Church are Templars" theme going on since the first game?
Concept art is a product. It is not pure Japan that the users who spend money and buy it expecting pure Japan at that time get. The concept art depicts rice planting scenes in Myanmar and Thailand. This is most likely due to a traditional technique called photobash, rather than AI generation, since the difference in sharpness of the image is clear after verification. In other words, many scenes from foreign countries that are not artificially Japanese, and scenes from different periods in Japan are incorporated into concept art. If you stick to Japan, if you stick to the historical investigation of Japan at that time and delete all the problematic parts, the concept art canvas might be almost blank. Concept art books are expensive. But what you're grabbing isn't what you expected, it's fake art. The historical authenticity of Yasuke isof course an important issue for the Japanese, but the current Assassins Creed Shadows that Ubisoft is making have a number of complex issues.
I am Japanese and I signed the petition, but I don't really think they will stop releasing the game, I signed it to say NO to UBI. But the number of plagiarism is too much, too much, I don't think they can fix it in 4 months, they won't be able to release the game to eliminate the plagiarism rather than signing the petition!
> It's just a video game Japanese people think so, too. UBIs should have said so as well. There are already many fantasies about Yasuke, and Japanese people enjoy them. But UBIs claim ridiculously inaccurate fantasies they made are historical facts, use private images or cultural property without permission, block Japanese people who contact them, and call Japanese people who complain racists, so we're just saying, ok, we’ll fight then.
It's their right to defend their culture. Afro-centrists are so crazy even actual Africans hate them. Ask Nigerians and they will say very critical things about black Americans.
This is so great. It takes a culture with some backbone to take a stand against this madness. I wanted an Assassin’s Creed game set in Japan for so long but i hope this game fails completely.
There are other games out there. Ghost of Tsushima Rise of Ronin, this one is currently out. Way of the Samurai 1 and 2 is on PS2, Way of the Samurai 3 is on ps3 and 360 Tenchu ps1, there are Tenchu games on xbox, 360 and wii. Shinobi 1-3 Sega Genesis. There is one on ps2. Afro Samurai is on ps3 and 360. So you can enjoy ninja and samurai games out there. Doesn't need to have Assassin Creed game set in Japan.
@@tr1besYeah but the fact that these games are so little in retrospect of FPS games is laughable. To be fair we can separate FPS by setting since lots of Samurai/Ninja games are third person, but yeah you would still find more than the latter.
I think what he’s saying is that all assassins creed fans for the longest time always wanted THEM SPECIFICALLY to go to Japan. It’s the perfect franchise to do this. We weren’t asking for another studio to do it…but they did because there was an empty space in the market for it. But EVERYONE and their momma wanted this franchise specifically to make a game set in Japan. And when they finally did we get this piece of shit. It’s disappointing either way you look at it
@@jtheconcept4143 yeah exactly. Back in the day, Ubisoft also made this little game called Splinter Cell. Now, imagine if you can, a game which utilizes this studios history and skillset. For example, an Assassin’s Creed game set in feudal Japan, with light/dark stealth mechanics, with AC fight/flight mechanics and parkour. In real Japanese history, the “ninja” were mostly used to gather intelligence. There is evidence of other clandestine activities and sabotage as well. So imagine a game, in which there is a “daytime” segment to scout and sabotage, set up traps, etc. Then, wait for nightfall/have a “time passing” mechanic, don the black, and splinter cell/parkour in for the assassination, get your mark, drop a smoke bomb, get chased out, etc…. It’s really not a stretch to think of what this game could have been. And why us old heads wanted AC to go to Japan. I know you get it J, but my comment is for others. And hopefully it shows how lazy Ubi has been with this game. We didnt want a samurai, we wanted the shadows. Imagine the story they could tell. We could be Nobunaga’s deepest spy. Interacting with great historical figures like Hideyoshi Toyotomi, setting up some of his successes on his rise. Imagine being the one that gets the Oda to Kyoto and then having to be the one to assassinate Nobunaga himself! So many possibilities…..damn shame this is what they spent time and money making. I for one, am not buying it, not even on 90% off sale.
@@jtheconcept4143 Yeah exactly. It is 100% because of the history of Ubisoft and what their games were like years ago. They had experience with games like Splinter Cell. I know you understand this J, so my comment is to address why old heads like me always wanted Ubi to set AC in Japan. In real history from the period, there were agents who worked in various ways for the Lords who paid them. Though they may not be the stereotypical Ninja we have learned to picture in modern media, they were involved in intelligence gathering, sabotage, etc. Now Ubisoft had experience with their games which would fit perfectly with aspects of Japan during the Warring States period. Especially since AC used to use their underlying story of Templars and Assassin's and the pieces of Eden/relics to explain certain historical civilizations or peoples rise to prominence. Ubi could have let us play with this history from the Shadows, which is what fans wanted. We didnt want a Samurai game, we wanted the Shadows. So imagine a game, which had a daytime segment, in which our protagonist could interact with various historical figures, conduct espionage, set up traps, carry out sabotage, etc. maybe make a way into or out of a target area. Any tasks which are relevant to the Assassination and escape, but which are also based on historical understanding of how espionage was carried out by the Japanese in this period. It would immerse the player into the mission and the history. Then when you are ready, you can have a time advancement mechanic which brings nightfall and our protagonist dons the black. They use Splinter Cell light/dark stealth mechanics and AC parkour/tools to infiltrate the target area. Then kill the target, and escape with the tools you have on you like smoke bombs, throwing knives as well as anything you setup before during the day, maybe setting something on fire to distract guards while you go for the target. But in true AC fashion, its fight or flight depending on the situation. Maybe you run to a secret exit you setup during the day. Now imagine all this, with big budget graphics and voice actors, and following a story which has you interacting with some of the most famous people from the era. Maybe you work for Oda Nobunaga and help him get to Kyoto. Maybe you break Tokugawa Ieyasu's wife and son out from the Imagawa house and return them to him once he becomes an ally of Nobunaga. Maybe the player could play a big part in the rise of Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Perhaps, the player could be the one who kills Nobunaga in the end...that could be a brilliant plot twist. They have so much information to play with from this era which was in a constant state of power struggle and political intrigue. It just shows how EXTREMELY LAZY Ubisoft has been with their intellectual properties. The irony is that the lazy companies go for the easy money. But at the AAA level, if they put effort, passion and respect into the project, not only would it have been amazingly fun for players, but profitable for the company and something to be proud of. This is why we wanted AC in Japan for many years and why I think much of the old Ubisoft game-enjoying people like me are disappointed with how things have changed. Just my $0.02

It is true that Japanese politician is getting involved. We Japanese are getting really fed up not being taken seriously why we are angry about what Ubisoft has been doing.

@8:20 Just watch the trailer of Yasuke doing a hieroglyphic with a brush. There are 3 things wrong with this. 1st. I pointed out before on another thread about this. My mom, a Chinese, show me how she does calligraphy. That is using the brush. It is upright to almost 90 degree. 2nd. The rollup, scroll, is on top of the table while Yasuke was performing calligraphy. That is what Japanese said he write bottom up. The scroll roll up should have been where the body of Yasuke and end table. Not the other way around. 3rd. I'm also a artist/painter and did try calligraphy. If you look at Chinese Master calligraphy, there are imperfect places like lighted mark, broken line, smudge, and sometime dots. Yasuke's calligraphy is so perfect and bypass all Master calligraphy. This one is an extra. There should be a small plate and an ink stone to discreet ink with water. There is none showing on Yasuke's table where he did calligraphy. Either they didn't know or they put it somewhere else. The Japanese use similar calligraphy technique like the Chinese. It's an art form like how drinking tea or shooting a bow and arrow.
I'm a gamer 1st. I love reading history since 2005. I remembered Yasuke was only a few lines in 2010. It was never a whole article like now. All I remember is that he is a retainer bought/gifted by the Portuguese missionary. That was it. No mentioned of Yasuke as a samurai. I am not Japanese but Chinese. China has over 5000 years of historical documents and records. Ex China recorded a great flood back then, this is refer to the Flood in the Bible. They also recorded fallen meteor during the Qin Dynasty 2000+ years ago. They recorded who does what. If Westerners can change countries' histories, they can change anyone's culture and history. That is ridiculous.
@@tr1bes so they couldn’t have developed similar myths independently? In Japan, there is an opinion that UBI is also a victim of Thomas Lockley. However, with the octagonal lanterns of Todaiji Temple in the game, which are not allowed to be used for commercial purposes, and other plagiarisms that have been discovered, it may really be impossible to release the game.
American definition of Culture: habits within a community, trends, style, traditions (at best) Outside US the definition of Culture is: The heritage of history, knowledge, blood, care that previous generations entrusted on us and the responsibility and honor to pass this legacy on to future generations (we don't actively change it or making new 'cause nothing of what we can do for our people would have the same value as something that comes from thousands years old... and when you break the streak it's over, it will take thousands of years more to build up again) That's how important and serious Culture is for non american people. It's something we feel the need to defend. It's our grandma, it's our child. It's what we're going to become a part of, to be passed on, when we are no longer here. When you have nothing like this, it's very difficult to grasp the greatness of it. It's not something that start and ends in your period time. It's not about you. When d3m3nt3d people swapped Cleopatra, calling it a documentary, we non american knew how dangerous that was... and we had immediate confirmation because in some US colleges egyptian students were confronted by black people that were asking them why they are in Egypt today? Why did they stole their 'black land' . Why did they erase from history black people and the original black culture of Egypt. Those egyptians have also received a beating. "It was normal for many people to die in Japan at that time, and most of them were beheaded" "People who criticize this game are racists" But they should still be allowed to release this game, which "has a hugely incorrect understanding of history," "is tinged with racism," "is disrespectful to Japanese people," and "is a historical fiction taste fiction." Yes, you can create fake content that rewrites religion if you declare that is fake content and it is not real, the problem is when you try to pass fake content as real
All they had to do to avoid this is NOT claim it was "the real story of Yasuke."
Simple as that lol
It's a assassin creed game when has Da stories been real😂
I am Japanese and I signed the petition, but I don't really think they will stop releasing the game, I signed it to say NO to UBI.
But the number of plagiarism is too much, too much, I don't think they can fix it in 4 months, they won't be able to release the game to eliminate the plagiarism rather than signing the petition!
> It's just a video game
Japanese people think so, too.
No Dey didn't😂
It's their right to defend their culture. Afro-centrists are so crazy even actual Africans hate them. Ask Nigerians and they will say very critical things about black Americans.
This is so great. It takes a culture with some backbone to take a stand against this madness. I wanted an Assassin’s Creed game set in Japan for so long but i hope this game fails completely.
There are other games out there.
Ghost of Tsushima
Rise of Ronin, this one is currently out.
Way of the Samurai 1 and 2 is on PS2, Way of the Samurai 3 is on ps3 and 360
Tenchu ps1, there are Tenchu games on xbox, 360 and wii.

I think banning it would be logical in Japan, speaking as a Chinese. It has been done before, not in Japan, in other countries because of inflammatory circumstances of particular subject of those countries. AKA Cod Modern Warfare on ps3, wii, 360 and pc in Middle East.
"Ex China recorded a great flood back then, this is refer to the Flood in the Bible" you know the flood story is a myth right?
@@gamer7916 it would be a myth but China historians and Jewish historian are on total different area on the earth. They have never met each other.
@@tr1bes so they couldn’t have developed similar myths independently? In ancient times, civilizations tend to live near bodies of water such as rivers, and rivers, such as the yellow river in China where the oldest Chinese societies first appeared, were prone to flooding, hence how those flood myths develop.
@@gamer7916 The Aztec, India, China, Greek and the Jews said almost the same thing. One particular instant is the Aztec describing Giants being wipe out by the Flood. India and China also mentioned about Giants as well. This one coincides with the Bible in Genesis.
@@tr1bes again, they all lived near bodies of water where flooding happens. American definition of Culture: habits within a community, trends, style, traditions (at best)
Outside US the definition of Culture is: The heritage of history, knowledge, blood, care that previous generations entrusted on us and the responsibility and honor to pass this legacy on to future generations (we don't actively change it or making new 'cause nothing of what we can do for our people would have the same value as something that comes from thousands years old... and when you break the streak it's over, it will take thousands of years more to build up again)
That's how important and serious Culture is for non american people.
That's how dangerous ignorace is. It leads to arrogance and to violence.

The funny part is that Metatron did the best video about it. Ultimately, there is not enough evidence to say he was or wasn't. Personally, he was more than likely isn't. Even though Nobunaga was not above breaking tradition, I wouldn't put it past him to raise him as a samurai, but straight up, he probably wasn't. He just liked the dude because he was so bizarre, and he also was a giant compared to most Japanese. So Nobunaga definitely had him as a bodyguard, because he worked well to intimidate threats.
