    2:00 Always loved Ned Jarrett. That was Dale's first win I think. You can see Dale trying to force Davey up the track in 3 and 4....smart.

    Someone can fact check me on this but I think I remember reading somewhere Ned apologized to Earnhardt for showing favoritism to his son. Earnhardt said something like "I would have done the same thing".

    Dale Jarrett's first win is one of the earliest examples I'm aware of a driver using the side draft. Probably why he was a top superspeedway racer along with some good Hendrick and Robert Yates horsepower.

    Well this goes to show Earnhardt didn’t just have trouble winning the 500. He became victim to losing a race on the last lap a LOT in general.

    You could count the 2019 fall race at Talladega because Newman passed Blaney on the final lap and Blaney passed him back.

      That's because the leader of the penultimate lap also led the last lap those races

      @@Katomivt Wrong, if someone clears a pass for the lead on the last lap and then gets passed back it still counts as a last lap pass in-fact that is multiple last lap passes in a single lap 🤯

      Had a lot more uncompetitive races as well but I'm guessing it's because the cars were much less aero sensitive.

      @@nhsports1012 not by a long shot. It died twice, when the real Dale died and when they allowed Toyota in.all you got to do is look at the attendance. They used to get the attendance they got at the last Bristol cup race at the day before Busch race.
