Joking? As an Aussie I have been forced to listen to this dude for nearly twenty years. He is the worst, fakest commentator on the planet. Makes everything less enjoyable to watch. My dad mutes he races he commentates.

Totally agree. Retzlaff pushed Burton like a seasoned veteran, and Burton drove that last lap like a seasoned veteran.

And did his notes and looked into the sport. To randomly say his last Daytona win was 2008 says a lot. He didn't just walk in and accept. He took the time to learn things.

Man reminded me of his bathurst calls back in the day, defo get larko down there in the pits for a go, give him a whiteboard and a few racecar parts, how good would that be.

Replacing that grass should have been done a long time ago. It definitely made a difference in Josh Berry's wreck. He would have rolled several times.

Leigh's call at the finish line was perfect while this wasn't his 1st Cup race called, what a way to introduce your new full time role. Bravo Leigh and the folks at NBC for making the switch.
For Harrison Burton this victory will cement his familys legacy and despite not having a ride next year he's gonna give it his all
What legacy? Jeff Burton has like 9 wins and Harrison has been in cup for what, 3 years and won an up for grabs super speedway.

I’ve been riding and dying with Harrison Burton since before his truck series days… Man this feels so good! The most satisfying NASCAR race I’ve ever watched. Harrison gets so much unwarranted hate nobody deserves this more.

This was the first NASCAR race I attended in person, and I got to say, what a fun night! Might make this a regular thing once or twice a year at Daytona.

What a moment for Jeff that had to be to watch his son win like that! You obviously saw it in his reaction, but you could also hear it in his voice during the interviews just how proud he was. He was holding it together, but you could hear it. Great stuff!

10/10 night. Diffy was great, Berry and McDowell being okay, the Burton family celebrating. Loved it. I know some drivers didn't have the night they needed, but it is what it is.

He cheated. 2 weeks ago it was scandalous when a 30th place guy makes the chase, so nascar lied and kicked him out. This week a 36th place makes the chase, he cheats to do it. And it is ignored and all the same who cried foul 2 weeks ago are celebrati g this farce. Kyle should have wrecked him when he blocked, instead of backing off and letting him keep going( below the line) . We know hamlin and logano would have wrecked him in a heartbeat. Then would jump out in the winners circle and say " that's racing, anyone else would do the same. When a win or the chase is on the line, you do what you have to do".. and nascar wouldn't have done a thing.

And they let his win stand and don't penalize him and again blame they guy he hits for causing the mayhem. U need to stop swallowing all the lies nascar squirts into you. Everyone except Dale jr gets penalized for going below the yellow lines ,NO MATTER HOW WHEN WHY OR WHAT THE REASON IS. when your done blowing nascar why don't you go blow hamlin and logano. They wilould have wrecked Burton and then sat in the winners circle and say that's racing anyone else would do the same and wreck to win especially with a chase spot involved. U loser.
I didn't really hear the call watching it live, but hearing it here for the first time, I am in agreement with so many other comments. I liked his calls back when he did it a few years ago too. He just has a play-by-play voice and demeanor. Rick Allen sounds like he should be a radio host or reading audiobooks.
NBC, thank you so much for making Leigh Diffey the leader commentator for the rest of the Cup season! He is absolutely fantastic and a joy to listen to as he calls races and was amazing in this race the whole way through. He called the finish beautifully and I will forever have chills just rewatching the finish of this race not just for the finish itself, but how much of a legend Leigh made himself in his first race in the booth!

I used to hate when NBC took over half of the season but NBC finally has done something right by putting Leigh Diffey in the booth and now im excited to watch the rest of the season unfold.

I still am not a fan of how plate racing leads to single crashes taking out half the field, but that was a very good race imo and the ending was fantastic. Great announcing job too.
