I am taking a pause on the MKAL. My colors give off major college football vibes-Minnesota Gophers to be exact! Since I am from Wisconsin, this is not ideal. I’m going to wait for week 3 and then perhaps knit the thing in one color. I’m thinking there’s enough texture to make it work. (With less ends to weave in too!)

Ha! I grew up in MN and my husband loves the Vikings. I was working on some striped scrappy socks and my husband saw it and said “Ewww, those are Green Bay colors.” And they are, so might have to gift them to my sister who lives in River Falls and might appreciate wool socks. Definitely enjoying this MKAL vicariously through podcasters like yourself. Again, typically you are fearless…..Schneeflocken!! Etc. When you held up the first finished section, I immediately thought it would make a beautiful…..capelet, cowl, or start of a yoke down sweater. You make me laugh when you say you are such a slow knitter…..so what! Slow and steady ‘wins the race’! You are so persistent while maintaining such a light and fun filled approach to your knitting. This pod often makes me think what it would be like to watch Mr. Maisel knit! Happy Knitting 🧶 🧶 Ann
I keep thinking that section 1 would make an amazing skirt if it were bigger. That said, I am never knitting this again, so it will just have to be dream knitting at this point! Thanks for watching.

Love the idea of tassels!!! I just finished clue 1 at the end of the night on Sunday. - And I only did 14 contrast stripes since I knew clue 2 I could just pick up and make a few extra and get a move on. I never got over all the BO and CO. I want a nice process knit and for me, it is a gift and the recipient will never know I skipped 2 hours of knitting. Hope your weekend full of knitting was great but that you got outside. It was beautiful outside this weekend. Good luck and embrace your pace!!!
I am still trying to finish clue one. I had 2 bad migraines that kept me from knitting for a couple days. I am determined though to finish and move on to clue 2.
Do you bind off on the Mac loops(braid) at the bottom?

Loved your video..watched the previous one too as I am knitting on my clue 1 STILL. So much knitting ha ha. I am also unsure of clue 2…not sure all the parts blend well. Guess we will have to see.

Thank you for thinking of showing how to fix a forgotten stitch, I am way behind although was never my intention to keep up with the MKAL. To many hobbies to try keep up ( quilting and cross-stitch) competing for my time 😊
Turns out it is pretty tricky to film tutorials. I am still working on it! Right now I've got the video but no voice over. I hope to get it up soon.
I missed the center double decrease TWICE in the same stupid column but about 2 repeats apart. I did the same thing, dropped down, fix and try to figure out what to do with all of the extra yarn that was left over. I feel like I did okay...lol
I definitely didn't get it exactly right, but it still looked good! Good for you.
I did not finish clue 1 on time! I finished on Friday night and started clue 2, hoping to be able to keep up with clue 2.
Clue 2 is long too! It is not as painful as it is a lot of garter, but I am still way behind. Alas, I'll just get there when I get there I guess.

I'm behind too. It's ok - we'll get there when we get there. It sounds like a lot of people are on the slow boat!
I restarted 3 times and now I'm just going. Ill fix what I can and the rest will be a feature.
I am all about the accidental design feature for mKALS. It is beyond my ability to go back. You can do it. (no one will know!)
I once added a tassel to my son’s hat and it was fun and looked great. Totally different look than a pompom. He loved that hat.
I hope I can add some tassels at some point. Now that I thought it, I can't get it out of my head.
I made my mother a sweater for her birthday and she had no idea 😂 actually made my dad a blanket for his birthday and he had no idea either …stealth knitter
That is too funny. I'm not that stealth, but I still think I could pull it off. Knitting just blends into the scenery at this point.
I finished clue 1 on Friday too. I enjoyed it once I got in the rhythm of the pattern. Today I decided to cast on a blanket instead of starting clue 2 😆 It starts with an I-cord cast on of over 300 stitches. Am I crazy? 🤪 I washed clue 1 to make sure I wouldn't start with section 2 today. I want to do all the things but I should keep it sort of simple! Only when it is dry I can start to pick up stitches. For me, the shawl doesn't need to be done this month🙂
Good for you! Since I am trying to focus on the shawl I keep thinking of all of the other projects I could be casting on. That blanket sounds amazing.
Definitely do the tutorial fix ! I'm a fairly new knitter, and I'm always looking for help and sometimes can't find a tutorial to help me. I'm a life long crocheter, and I recently figured out how to fix one of the little squares in c2c when you've gotten a color wrong. I want to make a tutorial and show how to fix that, but I haven't started making tutorials yet because I have a little problem with how I crochet. I talk about it in my video that's labeled just Diannes crochet and knit, and I'm wearing the green Zelda shirt. I basically crochet backwards to everybody . Anyway, I recently finished a beautiful knitted shawl and after I blocked it, I found 3 dropped stitches. 2 of them won't be hard to fix, because they're on garter stitch rows but the other one is where there was yarn overs, and I'm afraid I won't be able to fix it right. So I folded it and put it aside right now. I was really looking forward to wearing it when cold weather got here. Sorry, long story ! Looking forward to seeing more of your shawl finished !!

I think Clue #1 is so pretty and graphic. I am interested to see what the next few have in store.
I did finish clue 1 on time and I’m in section 2 of clue 2…. And it’s a tone of purling… this is going to take me forever but I’m still enjoying the process! Still not sure how wearable the whole shawl will be at the end but I’m learning a lot of new technics so that it’s a win in my book!
I am just about to start the purling marathon myself! I always enjoy the MKAL even if the finished shawl is not something I would typically choose to knit. It's fun to try out some new techniques.

That’s great that you fixed the mistake, I wonder if Stephen west has thought of doing a tutorial on fixing that? I missed a double decrease too!
I too am finding this clue a little slow, I seem to be knitting for ages and will definitely not be finished in time for clue 2.

It seems like a lot of people ended up in the same (slow) boat! I do like the way clue 1 knit up, so I am hopeful for the rest of the shawl.
Your clue #1 looks great! From everything I have seen, this clue is oodles of knitting. So I think you kept up amazingly. Can't wait to see how your shawl shapes up. I love the colors that you picked!
I do like the colors this year better than last year's shawlography. I am keeping up as best as I can, so hopefully I can still enjoy the clues as they come out!
Congratulations of fixing the missed decrease. I would definitely watch your tutorial on how to fix it, because I'm sure I'll miss one! I will probably be a week behind, hopefully! 💜.

Although I didn't enjoy clue 1, I finished it. The whole design seems 🤡 clown-ish to me. I will do it though. Good luck
I am hopeful that the final two clues will tie it all together - of course there is always the possibility that it will look more like a circus tent. We shall see!

Your progress is inspiring. I’m way behind: Clue One, Row 3, next. Yesterday, I realized I had messed up big time and I tinked all the way back to the ICord and started again. I’m back to where I was before tinking, and tomorrow I’ll plug along some more. As of today, I have the right number of stitches. Good luck for both of us! Keep on keepin’ on!
I completely forgot to check stitch count until the very last repeat (oops!) good for you for keeping count. We'll keep at it.
More agony and distress! Farther into Row 3, I had gotten confused and put my CO knit increases in the wrong place and I was a few stitches short. Another tinking, but beingenjoy the cold weather under a growing beautiful shawl! frustrated and befuddled, I tinked too far and damaged the ICord. It was then that I realized the poor yarn was becoming very tired, so I broke the connection to the skein and now I’m making, yet again, another ICord. I’m bumbling along, and I might put the project on a time out, but I will not give up! Christmas knitting needs attention 🎄🎄🎄! After the holidays, I’ll pick up my MKAL 2022 and
