8:02 Gorehorn has various organs and meat on his horns from the people he's gored. The Animals in that particular area of Drustvar are cused by the witches and Drust and such, you learn pretty early that the animals, all of them, herbivores and carnivores, just went completely feral and started killing and eating the locals. So Gorehorn is taking 'gore' quite literally. Honestly, Drustvar's got a pretty damn dark story to it, but it was probably the only place in BFA that I was able to consider an _actual_ threat compared to the Legion invasion in the expansion before. _So its kind of a shame the whole Drust aspect went nowhere boringly!_
GG Crendor! A few more fun points / tidbits about Reindeer: Reindeer and caribou are indeed the same animal (Rangifer tarandus) and are members of the deer family. In Europe, they are called reindeer. In North America, they are called caribou if they are wild, and reindeer if they are domesticated. Additionally, Both male and female reindeer grow antlers - where as in 'deer' typically only the male grows antlers. Male reindeer begin to grow antlers in February and female reindeer in May. Both sexes finish growing their antlers at the same time but shed them at different times of the year. Typically, males drop their antlers in the late fall, leaving them without antlers until the following spring, while females keep their antlers through the winter until their calves are born in the spring. Thus - if a reindeer still has its antlers in winter (Christmas time in the northern hemisphere) it is a female - so...all the reindeer pulling Santa's sleigh are female.
6:55 @ Athainne: she is also tied to the new hunter pet appearances that became available at the launch of 10.2 which are drust themed bear, stag, and saber, you must present a Thorn-Laden Heart to Athainne and she'll bless them and give you Moontouched Thorns then you will then go to Ulfar and he'll give you a dagger to use on a specific mob to obtain the unique appearances.
Calling something the wrong name is not an oxymoron. It's a misnomer. An oxymoron is a word or phrase that contradicts itself like "jumbo shrimp" or "bittersweet"
@@beepbeeplettuce5890 opposed words and words that contradict itself do not mean the same thing. But I'm sure you're very smart as well, don't worry. Also they didn't say it was a figure of speech, I was just adding complementary information, not going against what they said.
@wowcrendor Easy way to tell reindeer/caribou apart from other deer species: their noses aren't shiny. The fur covers their entire snout, as opposed to white-tail deer or red deer, that have the black leathery noses. Rudolph and every 'reindeer' in his movies was designed by someone who took regular deer from an animal park as a reference, they never used actual reindeer as an example. Moose are pretty easy to differentiate, too, with that big coconut snout of theirs. There's also some difference in the dew claws, but that's harder to spot. Check the faces: if it's got black leather on the nose, it's not a reindeer, caribou, or moose. If the snout is broad and swollen, it's a moose... though the sheer size of those things is a dead giveaway, too. Not entirely sure how to tell red deer, white-tail, and sika deer (Japanese deer, see the bowing deer from Nara) apart from the faces, still figuring that one out. But reindeer are easy, just assume Rudolph is the incorrect model (so Metzen is clearly incorrect, too). Also worth noting Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer is not public domain, the licensing is still managed by a company. So you can make references to it, but using the name is a big no-no. Reindeer have a different naming convention, too: males are called bulls, females are called cows. In practice, 'buck' and 'doe' are used, too. Last fun fact: deer do occasionally eat meat. They've been observed to eat dead birds, steal eggs from nests, or eat washed-up fish. So Gorehorn might just be saving up for a snack.
Blizz really missed a trick with that sleigh and reindeer in IF ... why doesn't it take us all to the Greench and back ?? it would be perfect and really cool and so useful !!
Athainne has a purpose for hunters. Hunters can bring her thorn-laden hearts from either a stag, bear, or cat in the Emerald Dream and she'll bless it (or something like a blessing) so it can be turned into a special knife that allows you to tame a thorn (Drust) version of the creature you got the heart from. During the day she's up in the cave with Ulfar (snoozing off to the side). The issue that needs to be addressed (seriously Blizzard does need to kinda change this) it's she completely dissapers at dusk (and probably dawn) for a couple of hours.
you’re somewhat correct. In north america this is correct, however in europe both wild and domesticated go by reindeer And though the caribou in Alaska and wild reindeer in europe are the ssme species they are seperated and therefore have different gene pools so they have some differences, such as appearance etc
I love the Shadowhorn stags, they're spooky and cast curses, I also really love the GHosthowl wolves in Ashenvale with theirvarious ghost form and even arcane explosion type abilities.
Heads up for the cursed deer in Drustvar, as well as the other cursed animals; you can but once you tame them they lose their cool look and become the normal, uncursed version.
Its a bit obvious to put Malorne on this list since he's the main stag wild god of the lore. Everybody knows him. These lists are usually bringing attention to things that are less known in the game
I'm surprised you don't seem to be aware of the story of Drustvar, Crendor. You should quest through that zone some time and then join me in lamenting the fact that we never got a Drust raid in BfA or Shadowlands. Also, Simon Templeman is there. The voice of Kain from the titular "Legacy of Kain" series of games.
I'm pretty sure Caribou and Reindeer are different animals... Caribou are GIANT with antlers that are like very wide in girth and also just really wide in general... Reindeer antlers are tiny in comparison and reindeer aren't nearly as big I'm pretty sure...
