Bartholomew was band leader for one of New Orleans premier R&B bands when he became an A&R man for Imperial Records. At Imperial, he brought in Fats Domino, working with him on combining R&B with big band, jazz, and country to create early rock and roll. Bartholomew was elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991... May he R.I.P. * As noted above, Mr. Bartholomew was a co-composer, along with Fats, of "I'm In Love Again"...
If anybody was curious who the greatest Rock n Roll saxophonist of all time is, well there he is. Tall, lanky Lee Allen who played with Little Richard, Fats Domino, The Blasters, plus some great solo work as well as an in demand session player. He had the sound, the feel and the ability to create solos and horn lines that made all those old records sound so cool.
