Honestly all Overtrail trims (GX and LX) need to axe the standard grill to a high approach angle grill to be factory off road ready. If I spend this amount of money with triple lockers, I don't want to cut the front bumper nor rear bumper to get additional approach/departure angle. Again, it should come factory offroad/overland ready.
I know they need to get away from this ginormous grill already. You got to go all the way back to a 2009 GX 470 to wipe that face off. Which by the way is probably a
good car to buy if you can find one a low mileage example. Or just import a 25 year old JDM d4d and be done with it😅
“Go anywhere, but it can also bring you back home.” I worked for Land Rover for a few years and can verify that comment was directed at us 😂
False. I have many business clients, including me, that never had a problem within the 2-3 years that we leased.
@@Ameer_30 people that have these Toyota/ Lexus products keep them forever. People don't Range Rover products forever that's a fact. And again you mentioned lease. People don't lease Lexus and Toyotas they buy them.
@@Ameer_30 I hardly think you are modifying and bush bashing a leased vehicle.
Do you believe what you say?A Land Rover? What?
They've addressed most of my gripes with the 2022 - but the 17 gallon fuel tank is just not enough for a long road trip or overlanding trip (let alone if you're towing a boat/trailer). Not for nothing, but an Escalade ESV has 10 (!) gallons + more fuel capacity.
Yes, range is a big issue. Just for this along I would get lx600 with a larger fuel tank.
My 2010 Dodge Charger has a 18gal fuel tank lol
I would rather have this over a suburban , Tahoe , Escalade any day
Lexus definitely gets their money's worth with this guy. A great spokesperson for the brand.
Great video guys as this really highlights all the over engineering that is put into these vehicles, not to mention that they come from the famous Yoshiwara plant inJapan. This vehicle is for the enthusiast who wants luxury, capability and most importantly dependability. Love my LX
This Lexus educator is awesome. Great job explaining everything is such detail.
I wish this package came to the non hybrid LX600. Considering you can save up on space of the hybrid battery and still retain the third row.
They need to take another 6” off that front grill bottom . That thing will be ripped off if you actually went off road with it . Cool rig otherwise
Still hate that grill…screams mall crawler to everyone in town. I like the front locker but I didn’t need the center or rear locker on the Sedona trails that all the Jeeps run. Just kept it in 4 low and the GX 550 went through it with no issues. Not sure if I would want to do more extreme rock crawling when I need my ride to get me home?
“Tons of testing” 17 gallon tank and not offering a overtrail in non hybrid
@@xxtreyxx12131990good this problem with my Lx600 i only get 280miles. Tank is 18g
Was set on a GX550 but the LX Overtrail's front locker has me wanting one of these instead.
Your going to pay about 40k more for a front locker compared to getting a GX550 Overtrail.
@@cameronwells82right. i can imagine him taking his $120k LX offroad & getting paranoid about damaging it. Let’s face it, the LX along with G-wagens aren’t going to be used for any challenging off-roading that 3 lockers would be used. People will just get it for the bragging rights of having them available.
@ yep, I'd offroad it. I help run a large offroading event in Colorado, I'm about $55K into my 2018 4Runner and have been offroading it since new.
Just add a front locker to the GX.
@@DarthNero I guess it depends on where you live. In Australia, $150k Land Cruisers are standard issue off road. My neighbor has a modified Troopy that he's spent $250k on, and he takes it on the hardest tracks. People spend far more on boats, to have as a toy.
Probably one of the best company reps that actually knows the vehicle he is talking about.
Fun Fact: Toyota/Lexus WheelBase Golden Ratio = 112.2 inches = Mercedes-Benz G Wagon WheelBase up until 2018 (before the redesign and update to the independent front suspension !
Hydraulic suspension was in the 1957 Citroen ID, which later became the DS.
Overbuilt? That sounds like a good thing to me. Overpriced, overcomplicated would be bad.
Andre and Jen, Let me give a huge round of 👏👏👏👏👏 to Eli Nesbitt who did an outstanding job of detailing the many features of the new LX 700h Overtrail. The only question Team TFL forgot to ask him is - What the heck happened to 40/20/40 second rows across the whole TNGA-F SUV range ? The frequent references to the LX's Land Cruiser 300 platform partner reminded me that Toyota builds several triple locked 300 Series models for other markets including an approximately $60,000 model equipped with a tried and true 4.0 V6 gasoline engine. Let's hope the front locker finds its way into the whole range of Toyota/Lexus 4X4s sold here. 🤞🤞
For the love of all thats holy, just add the front locker to the 4runner or the Sequoia! Gatekeeping it at 120k sucks!
Down payment for house.
I’d be happy if they just add full time 4x4 to off road trims.
Can’t wait to add the LX 700 overtrail to the family.
What a beautiful truck
He said the AC power plug could be used to run a fridge while off-road. Does that mean it still draws power from the battery when the car is off? The older systems required the car to be on to power the outlet.
The 12V battery and alternator is such a good idea.
I really liked the interview with the Lexus guy but his tone changed a lot when you asked about the 7-pin connector placement. It is one of my top complaints about my LC200. Clearly he was done with that question.
Please ask your Lexus contacts: Why is the cabin of the largest Lexus so cramped?? Armada, Tahoe, or even Palisade look more roomy up front. Space is a critical aspect of luxury.
Every TNGA-F cabin seems to be more cramped than the one it replaced. They have also dropped the flexible 40/20/40 second row seat from every SUV that had it in the previous generation.
The LX was never full sized. The sequoia has always been bigger.
The philosophy behind the LX was not meant to be a specific purpose vehicle like the long full size American SUVs. It’s meant to provide the benefits of the land cruiser with added luxury.
This is why Toyota built the Sequoia model even though they already had the Land Cruiser available for the N/A market.
It’s for the American market who want a spacious family mover that can also tow like a pickup, which models like Sequoias, Tahoes, Expeditions etc are intended for that market. They aren’t a Land Cruiser/LX substitutes neither is a Land Cruiser/LX.
So to make it simple, if Toyota was to build a Lexus version for a Escalade type customer, it will likely be a Sequoia based Lexus. That is what will make sense for someone like you, not the LX.
Being the land cruiser 300 back stateside guys
Whole video doesn't discuss how it's overbuilt??! VERY few "hard questions". Let me offer some better questions. 1) Why such small gas tank & range 2) Why such poor approach/departure angles 3) Why no E-KDSS option 4) How is the frame/suspension more overbuilt than a GX 5) Why such a low payload. 6) What makes the platform better/tougher than a GX or is it truly just the same exact platform
As far as platform questions. That information is out there already. The LX/LC 300 series have a beefier platform than the GX/LC 250
Payload because the hybrid battery weight
@davidhouston7812
Everyone keeps saying it's beefier, but no one says why or how. Is the frame thicker than it SHOULD be (if so tell me...show me) Are the suspension components thicker? Ties rods? Links? Etc. Are the hoses around the engine different vs GX550? Are the air boxes of different quality and made of thicker plastics than GX550? Are the radiators higher quality vs GX550? I feel like it's just standard to say the 300 is beefier...but no one explains why. If they use shared parts, how on earth can it really be beefier? I want to know exactly why it is "overbuilt" vs a GX550. The "overbuiltness" of a 200 vs gx460 existed with easy to find proof........I think it no longer rings true with 300 vs gx550. I mean yeah, in general of course the 300 frame is beefier, it is holding more weight. Thoughts?
@@YT98765 Oh I know...that's what I am saying...there is plenty of information covering the differences between 200 and GX460. There is no info comparing 300 vs GX550.
@@dineshjagar7447 I will try to locate the video again. It shows a cut out of the 300 series and the 250 series
Not exactly sure why that's important to some people.
I'm sure my 2023 Sequoia platform is beefier than my 2024 LC 250
But hey who am I? 😆 😅
I would love to replace the Sequoia with the LX 700h
Probably will not happen
@@dineshjagar7447just say you’re broke and move on
This thing is amazing...too bad you'll have to do so much work to chop the ridiculous front grill to fit a decent off road bumper.
Adjustable suspension in all 4 corners doesn't need kdss or e kdss
Strange, my LX570 won't let you raise/lower the vehicle with the door open. It will interrupt the 'easy entry' function if you open the door while it's lowering.
How expensive is to do the routine maintenance on this LX? How often do you have to change the filters including the hybrid pre filters? what would be the longest extend warranty offered by Lexus? How much is it? I am looking for 10 years 80k miles
Guy from Lexus did a really good job. Knows his stuff.
Time stamp?
He’s a marketing simp. Of course you’ll say that 😂
@@naveenthemachine meanwhile ur marketing simping for every other brand that isn't toyota/lexus
I wish Lexus would release Nori Green to the tape/ wrap market. I would like to cover my Silver 2015 LX 570 in that color. Any ideas on how to get that color TFL?
Lexus is quality and reliability
Excellent. No doubt this will be relevant ten years from now.
Do you know hi Andre and Jen, can please find out where they put the hybrid battery on this vehicle, because unlike the Land Cruiser, it doesn’t seem to eat into floor space in the cargo/trunk area? Eli was mentioning quite clearly about how good the space was in the cargo area , as if to say we got it right with this Hybrid Land cruiser.😢
It's under the body where the rear 3rd row is. It's similar to how the Toyota Sequoia does it.
It's built just fine, problem lies in its ridiculous price
Are the lockers, all three of them, manual only? Or do the modes lock/unlock automatically as needed?
Excellent luxurious sleek machine amazing LEXUS More 🔥 eeish
17 gallons?!?
CA Wine county here, that thing is too fancy for us. It’s made for parking at the Irvine Spectrum or the Citadel & filling full of shopping
With so many settings , Toyota needs to give a 3 day class that includes real-world drive situations included with the price of the truck.
No eKDSS is interesting. Why is it not on the LX, or at least a manual sway disconnect like on the new Landcruiser Prado.
Lexus won’t give u everything Gx overtrail amazing better then lx but Gx has smaller turbos but same engine as lx 😂
@@1GulFF Even without eKDSS, the LX has higher RTI score... better articulation than the GX.
The front end on this LX and the other Lexus vehicles with the exception of Lexus LC just look hideous. It's a try too hard approach that fails.
Yes. I think it was about 5-10 years ago, Lexus went to that front grill, is quite ugly.
this has another decrease in gas tank, the lx700h only shows like 250miles on gauge when filled up full its just unbelievable
Dave Ramsey says to not buy a car worth more than half your annual salary. There are millions of Americans with household incomes over double this MSRP. Some of them have mountain cabins. Some of them have desert houses. Some have boats to tow.
All these complainers need to brush up their resumes.
@@santiagohills3997 Dave Ramsey has some good points but not all. There are definitely better ways to manage your money than Dave's way.
They need to add that ground clearance functionality to the GX550. They also need to add a Hybrid that is tuned for regular fuel to the GX550. Let's also add those front lockers to the GX550. That grill is awfull. Interesting how he states they have been listening to off-roaders and you still can't drop the rear seating in a way to create a complete flat area for sleeping. And again, update that god awful grill to look nice, have room for a wench and improve approach angle! Missed question....Can you use the rear power plugin while the engine is off? Interesting how Toyota is making an effort for offroading but continues to miss some of the basics.
only way we get the real land cruiser ( the 300) state side anymore.. the overtrail trim is a close as we get to the ultimate off road Land cruiser GR trim too.
Its not Overbuilt, It's Overpriced...
Only if you can’t afford it pal
@@kcw9313I can afford it and I think it is overpriced too. It's also stupid to put the off-road tech on a vehicle that will not see more than a gravel driveway or snow until it's 2nd or 3rd owner and that's because it's overpriced from the get go.
@@showmemorefunthings9208 damn good point. it won’t see be doing any off-roading until about 10-15 yrs from now.
Said the auto industry analyst 🙄🫣🫣
Overpriced sure but if it’s a vehicle you want to drive for 3+ years may be a good way to go.
Why did Lexus choose the 700h name and not the 600h name, since the only difference is has a hybrid system. It’s not like it’s related to engine size like it used to be or horsepower.
🎉Lexus with the LC500 has a hybrid version called the LC500h, and that not only has a hybrid system, but a V6 instead of a V8 that is in the LC500. So go figure what they were thinking.
I have 24 LX600 F sport. Below invoice price, i like the triple lockers. Is it worth upgrading?
No..? You have an F Sport… clearly you don’t need triple lockers. Wtf lol
@ the problem is, i had Gx460 lift, did great trails. So i can’t take this offroad too expensive. I am thinking from resale side. I am looking for GX470 or 80 series to fill the over-landing gap.
Check the inflation on that right front tire, looks a bit low...
Can’t believe Nissan needed 15 years just to barely be able to benchmark the Tahoe.
Not overbuilt especially knowing that it has the V35A TT
Are we gonna talk about the 17s look suspiciously like gx460 wheels from 2013?
This thing is capable but useless.
I wouldn't even consider this LX. Just get the GX and save big $$$.
Man the Lexus front end is so ugly. That grill is horrible.
so Jen actually did a little over 6 min in this 52 min podcast... LOL...well, thats a start.... I guess... LOL
Like a cheez-it 😂😂
That grill🤦♂️
115k, just ugh!!!!
Finally. Jen gets one the pod! Yay!!!!
So tow hooks on the super boujee LX but none on the Tundra? Toyota make it make sense.
That grille is still WAY too big!
Gx still looks better for lx price I’ll buy g class
Your channel is a place where quality always comes first. Keep making us happy with your masterpieces!🐵🔺🖤
If this design would have come in 2016-17 era, it would have matched the mindset, technology and how data from various sensors can be used. To me it looks it’s just 6-7 Year old tech. And how long will you drive already old tech ?
Just sell us the 300 series…
Your videos are a real pleasure! The quality, the presentation of information - everything is top-notch. Thank you so much for your hard work.💧🎮🚜
Oooooh, secrets! Lol
Actually, this is better than the typical episode with Roman. The person who claimed that TFL went DEI is using the wrong video to make that point. Jen did a fine job, both behind the camera and in front of the camera.
This thing is stupid expensive, but I can't hate on it, it's really well done and obviously super capable in every way. This is one of those vehicles that you mostly get what you are paying for.
I am kinda shocked, I liked the episode and the vehicle.
They desperately needed some estrogen on staff.
Great video as always. But next time start with price and save me 40 minutes.
Overbuilt 😂😂😂
Nissan armada mejor 👍👍
This is nice but I would rather have a ranger rover SV just feels more special
The design language and blandness of Lexus has been an issue since the mid 2000s it really is holding them back. The over the top complexity of the body panels with the most bland color pallet possible is so strange. They have such great technology, internals, ride feel, reliability, and interiors it really is a shame. It is an issue across the market where they really just seem not to know what to do with the front ends of these cars. IMO Lexus is the most ugly brand with the largest gape competition going on upfront, why not just get rid of the entire front and just have a giant radiator at this point. BMW is in a close second with the entire line of Angry Birds Pigs. Go back to 2004 IS/GX language please Lexus, that or just give us the Land Cruiser 70 series.
no one's actually going to seriously off road this vehicle
This thing is going to be a problem. The Toyota group has ruined their reputation in record time
At least the Rep in this video was honest that these vehicles are for “Lexus Fan Boys” 🤣 At the price these sit at, let be real…the people buying these, buy them to make people think they are an adventurous person but really the most they do is drive to the grocery store 😅
Saying it’s an enthusiast vehicle is insane💀
Those tow hook locations are horrible, nothing like having to shovel yourself out of deep mud or snow, or if you got stuck in a shallow creek you would still drown before you could even connect to it, horrible design flaw🥴
Nickel Hydrate Battery for $130K 😂. And no, you can’t have a panoramic sunroof! 😂
why toyota always messed up the front end look. from side to back looks real good but from the front it looks hideous with that ugly wide grill. would never buy lexus because of that ugly look.
DEI infected TFL. We all miss Nathan.
When did Nathan leave? (I watch many, but not every video)
@@okniceguyNathan isn't gone, he moved to California and is filming videos for TFL there.
That's a pretty stupid comment and shows you don't even understand why many people dislike DEI. Do you even understand that women buyers make up about 54% of the market. Having vehicle reviewers with a different perspective helps TFL grow their business and benefits all, which is very different from a DEI hire.
what?
Not all of us. Though I did like Nathan, Jen is a great addition.
Nope. You guys really wasted your time with this DOA Lexus. If I were you I wouldn’t have shown up to the Lexus event only to be underwhelmed and disappointed in the real world. I’d rather focus on vehicles that are ACTUALLY competitive and interesting and worthwhile
The dash looks like shit period 😊
