I would like to pre-emptively ask for your forgiveness over the next few weeks if I am slow to respond to comments or messages in my DMs/email. I have really been focused on this project and I think I will be baseball-sliding-head-first into the deadline at the last minute on this one!😄 Also I have decided to close the 'Kits' part of my store since I hand make those to order. It will be restocked on November 8th ;) However digital downloads and Merch will still be available at bentleyhouseminis.com! Have a great week everyone!
Looks like Stormy is going to be quite busy supervising his wonderful Mama and keeping her on track. Both of you make a great team. Ara you are a wonderful designer and creator. I love watching you create and build. I love the Captains Quarters. You are doing great. Don't worry it's going to be okay. 🎉😊🩷
You are pre-emptively forgiven. At least seventy seven times 😁
Do what you have to do Ara! The project is fantastic! I love it!
By all means! You've got a whole lot on your to-do list. Like miniatures, we'll be right here with you cheering you on!
You go, Girl!
Stormy's such a good supervisor. She's a stickler for details, but she's fair. Also, puppy kisses.
She is! She keeps me on task!😄
Ok, can we talk about what your creativity is doing to me? Making me smile & giggle like a little girl! Your brain's thoughts could be someone's nightmare! Well done, Captain Ara!❤😂
😄😄 Thank you Cheryl! I am so glad my video could bring you some joy while watching!❤
You are amazing. ❤ I love the tiny details. I fell in love with miniatures when I was younger after I went to a museum and they had a tiny window showing a tiny person inside a bedroom. They had a button you can push to hear the tiny person snoring. I later ended up working for the same museum and I was a archivist for historical society of my hometown. I worked with a team of historical students. I also made a display with pictures I took of historical buildings and I drew them with a pencil and charcoal. I got a reward from the museum and they built a special spot for my piece. It was an honor to have a display. ❤
That's such an amazing story! Going from being a museum admirer to being honored in such a way is so cool! I remember seeing Colleen Moore's Dollhouse in the museum in Chicago and looking at it was such admiration. I still know that I am not on that level but it's cool that my work is in a museum too!
Without taking time to rave about the continuing wonderfulness going on here, I will share a motto I came up with a while back, to keep my own self-critique at a reasonable level: Imperfection is the hallmark of handcrafting.
That's a beautiful motto and very very true!! Thank you Fran😊❤
Regardless of what you’re doing in a video I always learn something new. Your creativity blows me away every time!
I appreciate that! Thank you!😊
i'm one of those people who often gets More out of the "behind the scenes" stuff of a movie than i did the movie. so yes, i do quite enjoy watching the "making of" stuff you do as much as i appreciate the finished works.
it's all art to me... technical or otherwise. ^^
As I watch you create it occurs to me, miniature building should be an optional elective in school! The problem solving, thinking outside the box and learning to deal with the unexpected, would be great life skills!!!!! Thanks for sharing, I cannot tell you how much I enjoy your work. 🧡🖤🧡
I think there is starting to be some after school mini clubs here and there! It would be a great if it was something that really caught on. So many skills could be learned but just making a single diorama!
I love the crows nest!!! It turned out great and now we know what one would look like for time travel!!! We have the knowledge! Don't forget to take care of yourself during this time. Breathe, eat, bathroom breaks are all necessary if you want your brain to function properly!!
Thank you Joni!! Haha true, now you know so it will be crows nests all around ;) I am definitely trying to take as much care as possible. I turned off my store today just to take something off my plate. I hate to do that but I know it will make my next month go a little smoother!😊
I absolutely had a blast watching your process through this part of the project. Thanks, Ara! 😊
Great Scott! You've forgotten a Flux Capacitor!
It looks great, in all seriousness. I hope the museum guests appreciate the work that went into this project.
😄😄 That would be a great Easter egg wouldn't it? lol! Thank you so much!
Yes! Thank you for sharing your mental process and the problems that you face when dealing with new issues while building this new miniature project. You always make it entertaining and informative. ❤
I am so glad you find that helpful! I went back and forth on whether or not I should take up time in a video to share that this week, but it really was a hurdle I had to face on this one. Sharing the ups and downs are really what helps us all move forward in this art form, I think!
It's all coming together .Great captain quarters.
Stormy is so cute,it is looking good
Now... It will be googleable!!! Yahhhhh!!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤ You did it!
The stairs and walkways look great (but rather dangerous without a railing!). I'm encouraged to know I'm not the only one to be working on a project and suddenly realize I forgot about a step (or 7). The crow's nest is amazing! I love the steampunk vibe bridging the 17th century and the future. The new greebles add physical and metaphorical depth to the back of the project. I keep being impressed with this project, and you keep making it even better! 🥰
There are no zoning laws in fantasys
@@janetgray2184 😄
Thank you so much Laura!! I am so glad you are enjoying see it come together as much as I am! It's kind of been a disjointed image in my head for a long time and now its all coming to life!
@janetgray2184 lol!
It would be an interesting detail to print off the list in miniature and make it a scroll in the Captain's Quarters, almost as if she's got a list of things she needs to do to her ship and is slowly checking them off herself.
Lol!! That is too funny and I might just have to do that! I really wish she could help me out a little bit😄
I think that's a fantastic idea!
This is the best idea EVER
Ara, I am always blown away by your problem-solving skills. The amount of detail and foresight you put into your projects is amazing. I love the way the stairs and crow's nest turned out, and I can't wait to see the whole Captain's Quarters completed.
Thank you Mike! I am excited to share the next video this Friday! I will be getting a huge part of the project completed and it will be a huge jump forward towards being done!
Isn’t it amazing that the shorter the time we have, the more we add to our to-do list?
That aside, this is the most delightfully chaotic project ever.
Haha!! If I had a review wall for this project I would love to have your quote there "the most delightfully chaotic project ever" Lol!! It is isn't it?😄
I think your crows nest looks fantastic. I love the way you meld the old with the new. I love the little panels that you added and I think the way you attached it to the captain’s quarters looks really neat. It really does look like it could move. Great job on the back stairs too. It’s going to look great when you get the handrails on. Keep plugging away and you’ll be done before you know it.🤗
Thank you Dianne!! I am so happy it's starting to come together with the two 'styles'! I am so excited to age it all up together which will really bring it all into the same space... I hope ;)
I really enjoy seeing how you figure things out that you've never done before. I appreciate how encouraging you are about leaving that comfort zone to get an amazing result. Thank you!
Being able to draw on top of photos was the MVP in this project! And I will probably end up doing it more and more lol! Thank you Rachael😊
It's all looking fabulous! The way you supported the crows nest was a stroke of genius. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
😊😊 Thank you Elaine!!
@@BentleyHouseMinis You're welcome ☺️
I love watching you process a problem, and then how you implement your ideas. It really helps me find new ways to problem solve. Taking a picture and drawing on it to get to a solution was a really good visualization tool!
Thank you! It was such a valuable tool this time around and I definitely suggest it for complicated installs like this one. It was great to get my ideas out of my head and into my phone so I didn't forget them mid-build!
@@BentleyHouseMinis I didn't even think of that additional bonus!!!
I like seeing behind the scenes. Helps me see how things are put together and see if I can use them in my own creations. ♥
Perfect!! That's why I love sharing these project with other creative minds! Often times one technique can turn into a whole new unique idea ;)
I absolutely love how the crows nest looks and I think slightly wonky gives it that well used appearance no machine stays perfect when used over time.
So very true! Machines do get wonky over time! Thanks Zoe!
Your imagination and creativity knows no boundaries! Loving how it's all coming together ❤
😊😊Thank you!!
Well done, Ara. This project is looking beautiful. I love the crow's nest. Keep up the good work. You're nearly there!
Thank you!! Yes, I am still hopeful that I will be able to get it all done in time!
It's coming along so great! Super impressive problem solving :D
Thank you!!!❤
Great video! Ship is looking museum worthy like something an internet sensation would create!
Yay! Thank you Mike!!
6:49 Stormy 😊❤️
Haha, she is all over the background of this video!
"Wonky" is one of my favorite words ❤
Mine too!
The crows nest is my favorite area of the project. Great idea!
😊 Thank you! Its starting to be one of my fav parts too!
The crows nest looks fabulous! Such amazing details
Thank you so much!
Just WOW !!
😊😊
I had the Rolling Stone's song "Paint it black" going through my head for a lot of this video. Going to be a busy few weeks, Ara, but we have faith in you. You've got this!! Another inspiring and wonderful video. X
There was so much painting things black in this one lol!! Or silver! Thank you Max! I am still feeling optimistic that I can complete everything... it's just going to be a bit of a marathon lol!
Wow. Addams Family house to Steam Punk Spaceship. No wonder the museum wants the new project. Plus the ancient ship that the spaceship morphed around during the years. ❤ The final lift idea of the Crow's Nest design is wonderful. I am looking forward to a photo of the Captain in the nest.
Thank you Caroline!! It's been such a fun one to work on, especially with the two conflicting era's! I am so glad you enjoyed the video and the Crows Nest project! 😊 Yes, the Captain will definitely have to make an appearance in there!
Some blinking lights in the crow's nest would be cool - like in the 80's SF movies
Lighting is a must! I don't know if I can make them blink but I know the exact look you are talking about and that would be fun!
You came up with such a great solution for the crow’s nest. It has so much movement.
Yay thank you! I am so glad that comes across!
I know you didn't get everything done that you wanted to do, but sometimes we have a habit of under estimating how long some things will take us to do. You are not alone in that issue. Trust that.
You are doing amazing things. They take as long as they take. And you're doing one hell of a job.
Enjoy the process my friend. It will all be worth it when you're done!
Thank you Adrienne❤ I am definitely underestimating times left and right lol! So now I am reorganizing my to-do list and plan to make sure that everything that HAS to be accomplished gets done! I appreciate it so much!
You are a creative genius. I could seriously watch you 24/7. ❤️
Thank you Robin😊😊 I wish I could make that much content lol!
Procrastinating on projects that you have to do, because you don’t have the knowledge yet, so relatable 😊 what you need is some Pippi Longstocking philosophy “ I have never done this before, so I guess I will do it perfectly fine”
love your projects and your fun way of making video’s and your honesty ❤❤❤
Haha Pippi is a wealth of knowledge and confidence!! Thank you!😊
Ara you're doing a brilliant job , the way you work thing out, I think doing the crows nest with the idea that it can move is genius.
Looking forward to next week. 👌
😊😊 Thank you! I am so glad you liked it!
Love that the crows nest can ‘move’ around the ship. I was thinking that too, but had no idea how you would do it!😁💜
I am so happy you like the results! I just hope no one tries to 'force it to move' in the future!😬😄
The way you did the crows nest, everything about it, is so clever! Well done and a great addition to the Captain's Quarters! Also love how you made the stairs at the back modular. much love!
Thank you!! It's quickly turning into one of my favorite parts!😊
Some brilliant solutions to tricky problems, great engineering this week.
Thank you! It was fun (once I knew it would work lol)
So many interesting ideas to think about.😮
Great job Ara! It’s coming together nicely
Looks fantastic Ara! One of my favorite things about making miniatures is the problem solving part and coming up with a solution on how to fix something or make something I've never made before! Love your videos!
I do love that part too! Just not so much when I am in a time crunch lol! So glad you liked it! Thank you!
I really feel that 'no previous knowledge' block that you described! It applies to non-miniature things in my life too. Your solutions are so creative and I think I would have given up and added all of the glue
A useful stray Lego piece that didn't wind up embedded in your foot! A miracle! I love that you use plastic latch hook rug blanks for your projects. I used to use it for my French hoods ... until I found Pellon Peltex interliner. The ship is looking great.
Haha definitely a miracle!! It seems like a great material for many different things. I may have to use more in the future! thanks Lori!
I love your creativity and problem-solving skills! I also find your voice very soothing, so I love to watch your videos over and over again when I feel stressed or anxious lol.
Big hugs to you and Stormy!
😊😊 Thank you so much! I am so glad you enjoy the videos and watch them in a calming way. That makes me so happy to hear!
Как я это всё люблю, как мне это всё нравится! Очень здорово получилось! Ара, вы такая молодец! Целую в нос Сторми!))))
Thank you!! 😊 I am so glad you liked it and will pass it on to Stormy!
All of it genius, Ara!
😊 Thank you!!
It's really coming together, just like all your projects ❣️❣️
Thank you Teresa!
I LOVE the crows nest!
Thank you so much!
You’re just so clever. I love watching you tinker and figure things out. Great job!
Thank you! 😊 It's such a fun part of this art form!
I learn so much from your videos, Ara. Thank you for showing me how to use every day items to make my minis.
Thank you! There are so many ways to make so many things! I am so glad it has been useful😊
I’m so fascinated by your endless imagination. Your design ideas and techniques are amazing.
Thank you so much 😊
your so awesome. I love relaxing and watching your videos.
Wow, you got quite a bit accomplished since the last video. The way you have the crows nest set up is brilliant! You're right, thinking can be harder than physical work. You've grown so much as an artist. After I found this channel, I went back and watched the videos that I missed. Ive watched every one of your videos. You are going to become a world famous miniaturist.
Making miniatures is definitely a journey and I feel so lucky to be able to share part of my journey here online. Thank you for being part of that journey as well!❤ My brain is definitely tired after this video lol!
"Googleable"? Thanks for teaching me a new word. And to think I go to your videos just to learn how to make miniatures. LOL I admire your awesomeness (is that a word?) You are doing an incredible job on that spaceship. Isn't that crow's nest the cutest, or what. Such imagination . . . you are so gifted and skilled.
Lol, well to be fair I am not sure 'googleable' an actual word! So don't take my word for it😄 Thank you so much, I am so glad you liked it!
This looks awesome! And I love the back of the spaceship 💜💜💜 Loved the crows nest too! The instruments inside of it look so good!
Thank you Sara! I haven't been a fan of the back for a while but I am starting to like it the more I get done!😊
Again, mind blown 🎉, great ideas.
I love the bit where you talk about experience based knowledge (I.e. wooden floors) vs no-experience: it’s so daunting to create something so original that there’s no guidance or inspiration to help guide you into structure (at the very least)! It’s definitely created roadblocks and procrastination for me in many projects, the idea that there’s nothing like this on the internet for reference can be annoying. What helps is experience with materials, knowing what can be used and the limitations with each medium; experience with creating lots of things using a variety of techniques, and the mental catalog of everything in your brain!
The only thing I’d add to the crow’s nest are maps, and I think I saw that in your To-Do list.
I might also suggest creating (painting) wear marks on the steps and the places that would be worn from the crew walking through repeatedly. Considering the sheer volume of what needs to be finished in time for the museum, id say my suggestions are small in comparison! You have done amazing things so far! The end is in sight! 👍🙌👏
After I posed this, I realized 'experience' is a much better word to use than 'previous knowledge' lol!! But I am so glad you enjoyed me talking about that for a little bit. It really hit me hard this week so I figured someone else might have struggled with it too at some point! Star maps would be a great thing to add to the crows nest! I might add that to the list too. And I do plan to age the stairs up so I will remember to add wear marks on the well worn portions! Thanks Kerri!!
I am just in awe with everything you create. Wow!
😊 Thank you!!
Great to have done that design !
I agree! I am so glad it worked out!
You are very talented and inspiring. Thank you for sharing. I have learned a wealth of knowledge from watching your videos.
Wow, thank you! I appreciate it so much!
Oh man oh man, you know, while the completion and mounting of the crows nest is cool - and it looks really good as well! - I never thought that what I wanted in my life was to get flored by someone mounting sets of stairs. 😲 I am not sure about anyone else but THAT was the standout part of this video for me. Something I did not think it would be when I started watching, THATS for sure. 😀 The look good, you figured out how to install them AND it worked and looked fairly solid. You can easily remove them for travel and/or storage purposes and in general they fill out what up until then was a flat uninspiring flat backside wall of the project. A wall you originally were just going to leave like that because it was not supposed to be looked at. I am impressed all over again. 😉
Over a month sounds like plenty of time, especailly with the tracker filling out at the end almost to completion but I know from experience that even when you feel you are always finished with something and have plenty of time to spare, suddenly you feel you could need an extra hour or two to do the finishing touches when that time suddenly seem to vanish out of the blue. What I really mean, I think, is that there is NEVER enough time. Sigh... I belive in you though. You can do it! 👍
Haha thank you! For me, the stair installation seemed rather boring because it was a really repetitive process on my end😄 But I am so glad you enjoyed it. I am really proud of how it came out and how secure it is. Since this video has come out I have also added the railings and I am really happy with those too! Very true... there is never enough time! I keep thinking of 'new details' that I want to add and all of those will have to be saved until the very end. If they get done, great, if not, then at least I have the first set of details done! Thank you!!
Your such a skilled artist. It’s a joy to watch you work and your thought process.
Thank you Gina😊
Fabulous! ❤
It is amazing how you came up with the apparatus to secure the crows nest. Very impressive.
😊 Thank you!

"That's not even GOOGLEABLE" was the most relatable quote in this entire video.
Lol!! 😄 What did we do before google? "That's not even in an encyclopedia!"🤷♀️😄
No worries if you don't respond. Just love watching and hearing your processes and seeing your awesome results!
😊 Thank you Daphne! I will still try to as much as I can, but if I am not able to as much, I will try not to worry about it. I do love seeing what wonderful ideas come from the comments each video though!
Aside from being an artist, you are quite the engineer. Michelangelo and Da Vinci would be pleased-both accomplished engineers , as I'm sure you know.

Thank you. :}
Wonderful! I am always glad to hear that something I made was helpful for another project in progress ;)
Only our Ara would want to put in movement marks. 👏👏
😄❤
Ara! We’ve had the same concept about the crows nest ever since you brought it out.
I thought a dashboard of some kind for time travel on it would be perfect, and that it would be mobile across the ship!
I have one tiny suggestion to add, what about two little lever knobs like the ones on diggers, or the kind you find on airplanes for takeoff/landing? That would suggest it’s mobility function.
Also, a map/atlas book on the other side of the crows nest would tie in the story perfectly for that area!
How awesome! Lol! The levers are a great idea and I originally thought about creating them and forgot somewhere along the way. If I do get some time I will add them in later. Thank you😊
This is such a cool project! 😊
The walkway is looking good. Hi Stormy.

I feel like cutting the crows nest beam and turning it into a stool might be interesting! Repurposes the mast and makes it like a command center 🤷🏼♀️ either way, I'm so excited to see everything finished!
Or adding a canvas chair there. ❤
I thought about that too but I am too scared about not supporting the top of the crows nest lol! Definitely would have been cool to have that as a stool though!
