Another favorite band - Rolling Quartz! The deeper you go into the catalog you will find the more recent it is, the better it is. This cover was spectacular ... always completely redone and never just "played" ...but their original material is the best ;) .
ALL THE DC REFERENCES IN THE MV ARE MAKING ME SOOOOO PROUD UGHHHH WHAT A MASTERFUL COVER. yeongeun always steals the show but god the VOCALS (including the backing vocals from the guitarists), and those FILTHY guitars. top tier band, they should be absolutely world famous

Not that it will ever happen but what an amazing thing a Rolling Quartz - Dreamcatcher tour would be. What a great encore it would be with all of them doing Good Night on stage at the same time.
I'd love to see it, and I'm honestly curious how they'd make it work, rearranging the vocal duties to include Jayoung...

This was the first Rolling Quartz song I heard by them and ever since then I was a fan. I was really hoping they would cover more DC songs like Chase Me, Scream, Break the Wall, or Breaking Out. But I’m glad they have so many good original songs.
Your reaction to this song was the first reaction of yours I watched. Was this the video that opened the door to Asian rock in general for you? I remember you gave me a list of "heavier" K-Pop tunes to listen to.

They had same stage before but not same time performance, the only thing I wish now collab on stage DCxRQ or at least special clips like with AleXa. I don't mind if there will be a remake of Mayday

6:00 I love that DCC helped them with this MV, even down to providing some of the sets and props! The sets hark back to DC's Deja Vu video, as well as as the celebration Odd Eye video they shot (where Dongie revealed herself from behind the mask)...
And where in DC's Good Night, each member represents a different kind of _nightmare,_ here, the girls each represent one of the five senses, as they apparently try to do a spell to combine them into a sixth.

It's an absolutely stunning homage to the original, while also being entirely its own thing. And the fact that Jayoung essentially handles the vocal duties of seven, including two rappers... is kinda mindblowing, if we're honest.

Like you, it's hard for me to rank covers over originals, no matter _how_ good they are, and the updated version of R&RP isn't at the bottom... but this is, of course, going off the official recorded versions...
I lucked into discovering RQ in time for the online concert before their Halloween concert back in 2020 (and so before their debut let alone this cover). They'd had several concerts before that at that point. My impression of the chat even at that time was that the crowd was 1/3 Insomnia, 1/3 lesbian and 1/3 Russian (or at least chatting in Cyrillic) - of course none of those categories are mutually exclusive. The Russian contingent seemed to fall off well before the invasion in 2022, but the other two have always remained strong in their fandom.
Yeongeun is a big, big fan of Dreamcatcher. BIG fan. In my opinion Dreamcatcher are very good but Rolling Quartz kicks serious ass, as we say in the metal community about extraordinary bands. This band are, if they want, destined to dominate on the big stages over the world.
