This is in my opinion a perfect representation of everything wrong with Lorelei's parenting strategy. Lorelei learns her kid playing fast and loose with the feelings of two guys led to someone's house getting trashed and this is her response? All that does is teach Rory that her behavior that led to this is okay and that there are no consequences for her actions. And guess where that leads in het future

First slapping is horrible there are other non-violently ways to punish your kid when she or he misbehaves, second Rory did nothing wrong here. She didn't fight, she didn't ask Jess and Dean to fight over her.
What kind of example is Lorelai setting here, instead of reprimanding Rory she thinks it’s cool two guys got into a fight because of her daughter. No wonder Rory goes ahead and steals boats when she is older
