Jeff Cook passed away he didn't leave the group. Just I think the year before he died, Alabama came out of retirement and joined Home Free on HF's Christmas show and they did Alabama's song, Christmas in Dixie together. Randy still has that great voice even in his 70's.
Alabama started in 1969 but had their biggest success in the 80's, where the band had over 27 number one hits, 7 multi-platinum albums & received numerous awards. The band blends traditional country music & Southern rock combined with elements of bluegrass, folk, gospel & pop music. Some of their most famous songs are "Tennessee River", "Love In The First Degree", "Mountain Music", "Dixieland Delight", "If You're Gonna Play in Texas (You Gotta Have A Fiddle In The Band)", "Song Of The South" etc.
Alabama are the Eagles of country music
Amazing band..seen them many times back then and they always put on an entertaining performance..,.. Mountain Music should be next by them
Why do people say that it’s really “not country” when they like a country song?
It's family harmonies.. they are cousins. Randy lead, Teddy bass guitarist and Jeff didn't leave the band.. he got Parkinson's and had to leave and has since passed. I think when I just saw them a few years ago Jeff's daughter was playing fiddle.. not sure but I know it was a family member that took over for Jeff. Randy Owen suffers from vertigo.. and he struggles moving on stage now but his voice is still DEAD ON..
Alabama owned the 80's.
Jeff, Randy and Teddy are cousins. Jeff did pass away. Jeff also played a mean fiddle. Alabama will always be my favorite country group.
React to Dixieland Delight, Song of the South, Mountain Music. Just the tip of the iceberg with them. Great Band, Period!!!
Randy , Jeff , and Teddy are first cousins . saw these guys 4 times in concert and they sounded exactly like their recordings .
THE SUPERGRUOP, OF 80's , period! .GRAMMYS, STADIUMS, ETC..., but their music is timeless,!
Alabama was a band that could really make you feel the emotions they sang about.
I got married in 1977, and this became "our song" We danced to this many times. After my husband died in 2005, this became one of my favs to sing at Karaoke. Got really good reaction from everyone. I have 6 of their albums, so I loved their sound.
This has always been my favorite Alabama song. I can put it on repeat and listen to it over and over.
The reason Jeff Cook (lead guitar, fiddle, keys & vocals) "left" Alabama - Jeff was diagnosed with Parkinsons in 2012 and had to quit touring in 2018. He passed away November 7, 2022.
Talk about a rabbit hole! They got so many hits it makes your head swim!
Alabama always put on Great concerts! Jeff Cook your truly missed!
"Boy, that's not just a double neck guitarrr, that's a double RED neck guitarrr." 🤠🎸🎸
