This video breaks down the concept of polarimetry and the polarimeter as a tool for identifying optically active chiral solutions. This includes a discussion on D and L, dextrorotatory + and levorotatory - and its relationship (or lack of) to R and S

I was totally confused when I left class. So glad I subscribed to your channel. Thanks a bunch for breaking down the topic so it makes more sense to me 😉
Glad the video helped you understand the topic better! You are very much welcome!
leah bless you heart. i took ochem in 4 weeks for a summer class. wouldnt have made it without you
Glad I could help!
Great video! I haven't used Polarimetry for many years and this was a great refresher video. Thanks for making it!
Glad it was a helpful refresher!
I use all of your material. THANK YOU for being an excellent teacher and sharing your talent with us!
You're welcome! I'm glad the videos helped :)
Man i had my first biochemistry class in college and i didn't understand a thing, i felt like a dumbass. I'm so happy i found this video i feel so relieved !
No reason to feel dumb, it's a tough topic. I'm so glad this helped clear things up for you.
Thankkkk yoouu! Writing tomorrow and this just makes sense!
You're very welcome!
5:15 i can"t thank you enough for this info, that what is was looking for, thanks.
in my knowledge, D and L isn't concerned with the optical rotation
You're welcome!
Thank you so much. So glad that I found this video !!
You are so welcome!
Ur video had helped me a lot for my presentation preparation thanks Leah 😊
You're very welcome!
Thank you for all of these tutorials! They are extremely helpful
you are very welcome
Your presentation was superb. Clear and concise. I'm very grateful.
Glad it was helpful!
as a directioner the number of times "one direction" was mentioned made me emotional LOL but seriously THANK YOU SO MUCH LEAH youre such a blessing
You are very welcome!
this is how i dream to be as a professor someday, thank you so muh
you're so welcome
Gee thank you so much, I needed this a week ago
robertzolfable you needed this a week ago, I needed this a month ago
better late than never?
Thank you very much
you really helped me alot
pls don't stop posting your video's
Definitely more videos to post! Please make sure you are subscribed and share the channel to your friends :)
This makes so much more sense than my lab handout. Thank you!!!
You're very welcome!
this is soo detailed love it.keep it maam
Glad you enjoyed it
so so so good. i realized that i pay the uni just for taking the exams and my diploma
Lol. That's not good! I hope there's a little bit of teaching going on.
That was really helpful!
I'm glad you liked it!
If R means rectus ( right ) clockwise direction
S means sinister ( left ) anticlockwise direction
Iam right ?
That is correct with regards to priority groups 1, 2 and 3
@@Leah4sci mam
Chiral carbon must have four different groups or atom
Its right or wrong
Pls explain about chiral carbon or chiral centre
Your videos have helped soo much, so THANK YOU! Do you by any chance have videos/information on your site about diasteromers?
You are very welcome! glad to help.
I cover diastereomers in the orgo study hall: leah4sci.com/join
After watching such a wonderful video. A question arises in my mind. I wish you can make it clear. I want to know what actually is the mechanism that optically active solution/medium rotate the plane of polarized light? Physically what happens there? Thanks
I'm sorry, but I don't offer tutoring over social media. For help with questions like this and more, I recommend joining the organic chemistry study hall. Details: leah4sci.com/join or contact me through my website leah4sci.com/contact/
Thanks!
You're so welcome!
Real helping video
Happy to help!
thank you!
You're welcome!
Hello, sorry for interrupting i just want to ask about achiral compounds : do they have R & S configurations? Or do they rotate? And also i want to ask in chiral compounds why we cancel the lowest priority atom shouldnt it rotate with the others which are attached to the carbon center?

thank you
You're welcome
I just love u, very interesting and easy
Wow, thanks!
In the tube is there only one chiral molecule in there at a time or can u pit 2 in there ?
millions!
Excellent.I can say excellent a number of times.why? We are biologists to whom your narration makes the entire subject easily understandable. One request.Instead of Bromo butane kindly explain with glucose and amino acids.
I'm sorry, but I don't offer tutoring through RUclips comments. For help with this and more, I recommend joining the organic chemistry study hall. Full details: leah4sci.com/join
Amazing explanation 👌
Glad you liked it!
@@Leah4sci can I ask you my doubts,I think you can help me solving problems personally?
Saved my life
Glad I could help!
great video
thank you!
Thankyou mam. I love you. But im curious to know from which country you belong. I am really feeling lucky to find u.
Why does my country matter?
Leah4sci . Yeah of course no matter. You are only my teacher now. But i would like to tell u that u r a responsible human for humanity as well as for your country. I would like to know that fortunate country by which i would tell my friends that my organic chemistry have been strong with the help of a (.........) tutor instead of a foreigner tutor. I would be glad to know and share your videos. Sorry if my words are inconvenient but i really love your teaching....
Thank you very much for your kind words :) I am in the US
i love you thank you
You're welcome!
I'm learning about optics in physics 3 will it help?
no, this is about chirality. However, it's a short video so a quick review won't hurt
❤️
Thanks!
👏👍
:)
Hey leah!
Just wanted to tell you, you're be
Thanks
