You omit 2 critical and common points of failure:
    1) SEEDS: Not all seeds you encounter in the store were processed equally before they get to you. If they'd been treated somehow to increase shelf life, or dried at too high a temperature, or degerminated, or hulled, et al, they will NOT sprout. If you wish to avoid a crap shoot and guarantee a high rate of germination, look for seeds labeled as "Organic" and most specifically "for sprouting".
    2) WATER: If your municipal water is chlorinated in excess of a very modest level, it will prevent germination. If there is enough chlorine present that you can taste/smell it, there is a decent chance it will cause problems. If that happens, try again with bottled, distilled, or best of all reverse osmosis filtered water.
BTW, for the whitest and cleanest tasting sprouts, keep them completely DARK throughout sprouting (an inverted opaque bag or box works fine) ... only give them light if you plan to take them beyond simple sprouting and grow them into microgreens.

I will make one final attempt now that I know what the problem might be. Thanks again!

Sprouting process looked like a part of plantation. The nutrition is lost if the sprout is grown more than a inch. Its important to consume the baby sprout, without letting it to age.

Ok what size of mason jars are these?? That actually needs to be mentioned.
I just tried this last night in a regular size mason jar and, as I'm ready to drain out the water this AM my peas/beans are so swollen that it's nearly touching the cheese cloth! (Making me think now that there might not be enough space for the sprouting) I know peas/beans enlarges after a good soak but because of the recommended measurements, I though I would be fine! If you are doing this and follow the 1/2 cup measurement as stated you need to use a taller type of mason jar!

Once sprouted do you store in refrigerator in same glass with mesh screen?
