Melbourne Australia here. It seems that prices have gone up since turning all there stores into fancy cafes and replacing their staff with touch screens.
Wait times are longer, stores are dirtier/messier and the staff that are on are often burnt out and come off as rude as a result.
You don't really notice the price Increase until you're feeding the family.

It's bad enough that the prices are quietly being skyrocketed. What's worse is that the general quality/service consistency seems to have dropped significantly across the board of fast food choices. Many restaurants still seem to be working with little more than a skeleton crew of people as well. Are we all being collectively mugged by corporate America or can someone really justify why practically everything has gone up by such a great percentage in a relatively short span of time? Or is this a meta-size version of price fixing?

    1 bunch asparagus ($3/ ɓunch)

Actually I thinks depends a lot on the local culture. I’m from Italy and I find McDonald’s to be quite expensive (A BigMc Combo is around 9€) compared to other smaller stores that are not fast food. Moreover when you go to McDonald’s you have to basically clean your table once you leave and therefore they are not offering any other service beside cooking the food for you.

There's a solution to these high prices. Don't eat there. If enough people avoid a $17.00 Big Mac, McDonald's will be forced to lower the prices in order to bring back customers. Hopefully, most of those customers will have a better appreciation of eating healthier food since leaving fast food and will decide to not come back period.
