But in the past, other Giro D'Italia were amazing, like 2006 Giro D'Italia with the biggest doped in cycling history, Ivan Basso as known as Birillo by Eufemiano Fuentes. Know their story.

The MONSTER LAB... BIRILLO!
I really enjoy your videos, albeit the tone is sometimes not to my taste, but thats not really the point. Im curios as to were you get some of the claims you present during the videos. Like how Riis told Basso to slow down during the TT. I've looked around a bit online, and simply cannot seem to locate that quote anywhere. Or is it simply stated with an sarcastic undertone, that I cannot point out? ;) Keep up the good work. Like I said, really enjoy watching your work.
Jackpot series. Never have to worry about running out of dopers.
Robo basso in 2005 and 2006 was ridiculous. His tour of Denmark victory where he even won all the flat stages is still talked about today.
When I started Med School I thought I would be learning about anatomy and physiology but it turned out it was 6 long years studying Ivan Basso.
"Basso's Anatomy"...cover to cover!
Can’t wait for 2042 to hear about the doped cyclists of 2022!
Hopefully he'll still be around to do a video in that distinctively weary accent of his. Or maybe then, there'll be a Machine Learning trained voice version of him. LOL.
I'm sure if it was a list it would be on her head Wout van Aert
You got that right! They want you to believe that they are eating better and have better bikes. These are grown men riding bikes for a living, I say dope it up and put on a Great Show for the people. Its just another form of entertainment.
I remember how Gibo Simoni told press he didn't believe Birillo. People forced him to apologize but he had the reason.
Simoni was doped too.
@@rexmundi273 u have no proof about that,my friend, nor does anybody else.no case for doping for Gibo, like it or not.he was just the best climber, able to perform at high level along all his career, deserved at least another two Giros (you can see to whom he lost this one,and same for the Savoldelli Giro, scandalous)
@@davidetranquillini4864 No tell-all book, but Simoni tested positive for banned substances, TWICE, in 2002 where he made up some dentist and 'Aunt gave me candy' excuses which were surprisingly accepted by Giro race officials. Plus his team, Saunier Duval - Mayo 2007, Ricco 2009 (entire team withdrawal from TdF), Dr San Millan and his resume of PED teams
Jesus Christ, Gibo Simoni was a joke too, let's not overstate him
@@marcellobonati > Oh, between that and the cocaine he was probably just as clean as Pantani, lol.
Contrary to your assertion, I think we have VERY LITTLE CLEAR IDEA of the PED/blood-doping use of "his competitors" since much of that was not tested as it would only embarrass cycling [even more], and the investigations that were done shielded identifications for the most part. I will admit, relative to other riders of the 90's and 00's, he was likely not amongst the worst.
Love the channel and vid, keep it uo
"Always clean Bobby Julich!" - Classic
Great video! Santi Perez video when? 2004 and 2006 Phonak where both hillarious.
About Piepoli, he actually climbed the Hautacam way faster in 1996 than in 2008, he finished 5th on stage, only a few seconds behind Virenque and Dufaux
We talk a little about him in our Buffalo Gutierrez vid
Basso's victory in the 2009 Giro was an absolute joke. He looked like he was riding a motorized bike, riding way out ahead, barely breaking a sweat. Even my 72 year old mother, who had seen part of the race, commented about how ridiculous it looked.
also because he never won in 2009, but in 2010 or 2006, LOL
In that Giro he silenced many critics by winning as a great champion

Birillo was the name of Basso's pet dog & the name on the blood bags siezed in Puerto
SPOILER ALERT
Comedy gold this stuff. These boys all doped to the max. The fans love to see the exploits.
Way to go buddy!
Enjoy this channel a lot.
So glad I changed professions... It's tough to get along...
This will be dope for sure 😝
2009 Giro I think was the on par with this Giro as Doped max and was a .Giro that had Basso and Lance Armstrong, Cuenego, Manchev, Pellozotti
I made a vid of that Giro too
Basso didn't even ride the Giro in 2009...
Dope story!!
This Birillo was like Hulk transformation...
2006 was the year he was going to win the triple crown. i was so disappointed when he got busted right before the tour.
BTW, I shared this video of yours in many cycling online communities, and it's a bit surprising to notice that in 2 big italian communities you already have a terrible reputation for saying BS very often. Amazing outcomes.
But not in australian ones. That's life my friend. We can't get good opinions for everyone.
@@cyclingstories your opinions are defamatory. It's pretty wide different and someone's legal team one team might ask your videos down or worse.
No man. Birillo was sanctioned, he was in Operation Puerto, identified as client of Ufe Fuentes on that era. That's not defamatory. That's reallity.
And please, don't tell me what about Birillo didn't lose the 2006 Giro.
Riis CONFESSED his own doping and he's still the winner of 1996 Tdf.
Admited it, put a smile on your face, don't fck off.
Ah, and of course, the Colbrelli's vid in that I said he doesn't suffered a cardiac arrest for doping, i don't know what LEGAL team could ask my vids down.
In other terms, I'm poor. SO POOR.

So "worse" for me is.. nothing hahaha.
Have you ever heard about Armstrong and US Postal?
Birillo the doped what a great nickname
What was the drug of choice during the Eddie Merckx?
With Riis it could be anything
I seriously doubt that anyone in the last 90 years has won the TDF, Vuelta or the Gyro clean.
I love this sport but hate it. Its the argument over the margin that we hate to look at. What does it mean, what does it count for, why should we care?
And now we have a new generation of super athlete's and yet I'll keep watching .

Basso is an exemple of how science has the power to turn a can of beans into a cup of gold. But a man has something within himself which cannot be sold, unless he wanna turn himself into a mouse: dignity means manhood. Basso means mousehood.
Without further a due, or ado (as youtube puts it)....
Seemed like a bit of motor doping going on.
basso was only the 3rd wheel to me, after armstrong and ullrich - only outperforming ulllrich when he was 90kg once more at the tour LUL
Absolutely hilarious how you pronounce birillo 🤣
It would be great to see a video on the great GIPBERTO SIMONI. A real NON DOPE HERO.

Victor Hugo pena was never involved with Fuentes. Never mentioned anywhere.
Not only doped to the eyeballs but also a very irritating grin.
Why you steal from ciclismo en 1 minuto? There is a channel called ciclismo en 1 minuto, and has the same videos but in Spanish, like the same form of description. Both channels are literally equal.

@@thomasarana4322 now you could say "sorry I called you a thief" to CS, maybe...
The TdF certainly isn't clean but the Giro and Vuelta always seemed more suspect. Less attention so you could get away with more. Like Birillo in 2006. Just my opinion.
That has nothing to do with it. All is sanctioned by uci and they do the doping controls.
@@drunkensailor112 Hello Ryo ! You are missed in CN. Oh and I disagree with your opinion on doping at Vuelta and Giro. The TdF, whilst never clean was always more strictly policed.

and he had similar cancer to lance armstrong. These drugs are just so worthwhile if you like shortening your life. This is greed at its most prevalent level. Risking your life to win. Dumb and these guys deserve what they get. Basso doped knowingly and he suffered the consequences.

And still he won the Giro afther operation Fuentes..
Gibo Simoni the best

56 km hr time trial, good luck in Canada, specially the Southern Ontario regions with 35 km hr head winds and 20 km cross winds for months on end in the summer. Only in Europe can you get these speeds, less air pressure and barely any wind in Southern Europe. Cycled there as a youth and it's laughable compared to cycling here, you are literally climbing but sitting down here every second of a 100km ride due to the winds around the lakes.
Ye i’m sure Europe doesnt have any region with headwind flats
@@GerNiels I would compare this area to the flats of the Netherlands identical and brutal. Britain also has these weird head and cross winds combined. We run our road bikes here with a 1x10 setup, nothing to climb here for 200km, see the one chainring setup more often now. Never seen anyone on a 53/11 ever, it’s not just the head winds it’s the mass air pressure you have to move out of the way, we can’t use 60mm wheels here either too dangerous. Basically we are cross cycling on open roads here, oh well it is what it is so we setup our bikes gearing to help us in these windy lake areas. When we reach 40km hr our bodies are blown back with this massive air pressure here at the lower points. I use the Wind finder app in order to map out the best routes these days.
Thanks for the info, had no idea about those diff in air pressure. Never cycled out of my Paris region !
And this cheat still involved in pro cycling

Oh gosh, this video is between Terrible, Artificial coming up with an alternative history and clearly having lack of Context.
Aside from the fact that Google Translate and "Italian listening" is an available function (please use it, because it's the 7th video you use Spanish pronunciation for Italian names and it's so terribly wrong and awful to hear). BiriLLo was indeed the name given by Fuentes, but during the Trial, he (and he's a spanish dude) said BiriLLo with the Italian pronounciation of L, not with the spanish. Birillo in fact means Pin, and it was a nickname from his upcoming newborn child.
Getting to facts and opinions: OK, Basso ended up in being part of Operaccion Puerto (spanish pronounciation), which nobody disputes
Thou, you hyperstated what actually Cunego and Simoni were in Giro 2006.
To all of the commentators: this video focuses in Giro 2006. Not 2009, not 2005. Google is there also for you to check.
2005 Giro was won by Savoldelli (his 2nd, 1st with Discovery jersey) and 2009 by Menchov.
Cunego always has been, a rider who should have been more focusing on Classics.
He stated himself in an interview when he retired with a bit of regret, also comparing himself to Ballan.
He just got galvanized by winning the 2004 Giro when Simoni basically was dead and he had not bigger rivals other than Popovych and Honchar
You call out on "getting humiliated by Simoni", while forgetting that in 2002 he lied to the Press by saying "he took a colombian tea" in order to fake out the fact he got high hematocrite and probably took EPO, and completely forgetting that Simoni in italian public opinion (which you clearly have NO ABSOLUTE CLUE at all) was always seen as 50% loved and 50% hated, no grey zone in between.
Lastly and most importantly, a big highlight on how poorly you know about Italian cycling and context, enough that you finished your video with the right ending, but not the most interesting part of the Basso-Simoni feud:
EVERY SINGLE ITALIAN FAN, remembers that Aprica 2006 stage with Simoni, not because Basso was clearly in better shape than Simoni ever was...
...but most and foremost because in the after-race interview - in ITALIAN which I guess not only you are not able to pronounce and definitely NOT to understand - where Simoni, in front of RAI Cameras said "Basso, shall we tell them the figure for having me allowed to let you win, for your son? " with Basso basically making a huge poker face and saying "he doesn't know how to win so he needs to come up with excuses"
Please dude, come up with some Italian giving you context and knowledge, otherwise you seem to be just like a Hater, saying "everyone was doped" and "rider A-B-C deserved more" while completely missing 70% of the context, and giving an extremely PARTIAL and totally biased opinion which never stands in the eye of an expert
Cunego in 2006 were not 100% focused on classics, later, of course, yep. One of his principal objectives that year was Giro d'Italia. He was in very good shape that year. He wasn't a Maurizio Fondriest or Moreno Argentin on that Giro.
We will talk about Simoni in 2002 Giro and his positive. Not problem about that. Simoni also was in Saunier in 2006. If Birillo humilliates him, that talks more about Basso than Simoni's.
We don't talk about Full Basso and Simoni''s story, that's true. But our intention is to resume Birillo's performance in 2006 Giro. That comment adds some extra things and that's good. It isn't partial, we didn't defend Simoni. We talk about the outer space performance of Birillo, that's the focus in the vid.
Ah, in pronunciation terms, don't be mad about that.
If you really, really want to, you're free to take that "70% missed context" and put it in front of a mirror, and see if it reads "Intention of sender, and reaction by reciever". I'm not seeing you rant like a kid on this channels non italian themed videos. So from over here, this clearly looks like a 'you' problem.
@@Rahbekkk so you are claiming to be ignorant and willing to remain ignorant? Impressive.
@@TSEEMOD_618 Whatever you say my guy. I'm standing by what I said. You're ranting like a mad kid throwing a tantrum. If this guy's videos irks you the wrong way so much, why do you keep watching? It's like you're mad that the video doesnt touch on several things, like the Simoni-Basso comments after Aprica, "...Every Italian remembers..." except this is not a "How Italy remembers the '06 Giro" video. It's a video by an I assume, Irish guy making a video about Ivan Basso's supernatural '06 Giro.
"Cunego always has been, a rider who should have been more focusing on Classics." - Dude cmon.. Yeah thats true. BUT HE DIDNT! and thats the bottom line. I dont even know what you're getting at here, other than being mad about some arbitrary wrongs, that you perceived as being false. Cunego went to the '06 Giro to win and thats a fact. They were doped and that's bad, but why not be objective and to the point, instead of calling Ulrich a red head and Riis a baldy over and over?
To reduce these absolute legendary athletes this way is really not cool, just talk about their doping scandals instead, that's where the juice is at ;-)
I think it would improve your content and your channel's success significantly, because you definitely sound like you know what you are talking about with all this cycling stuff :)

@@ArthurDentZaphodBeeb I disagree. For me I’m interested in the facts about the doping, not the biased perspective of one guy. I makes the whole thing more untrustworthy and kills my interest after a video or two. I’m not saying he shouldn’t say his opinion about their bad behaviour just that they can’t help their hair Color or going bald and that it has absolutely nothing to do with the sport, the cheating or the story behind it just kills the quality of this otherwise well researched RUclips channel

No story here. Doping and pro cycling are synonymous. Pro cycling is one of the dirtiest sports around and you can assume most of the pro peloton is juiced to the gill.
But that is the story! These are stories not just of individual riders but of the human condition, UCI corruption, media collusion and for that pro cycling still fascinates and enthralls.
