I lived a couple hundred yards from there from 1997-2002 the Lawson house was just through the woods to the right of the headstone about 100 yards , if you go out that gravel road to leave and you'll see an old barn when you get to Brook cove turn left and go all the way down the hill and you'll see some rock and stone columns on your left at Watts roads is private property but part of the old Lawson house there's a covered bridge up there and it has part of the old Lawson house as part of the covered bridge
@@heisenberg8346 Hi, I would like to see that my self. The original barn oh yes even just to look around the Property really interesting. Oh yes thanks for the info also.
The house was on Brook Cove Rd, same a s the cemetery, just about half a mile away. Its empty land but not grown over. I grep a few miles away from there.
Happy I just discovered your channel . Rarely do I find a true crime story I've never heard before . This story was totally new to me. I really enjoyed the effort you took to tell this story so well.
I can also tell you that when you turn off no 8 on to brook cove Rd and left on on gravel drive way for cemetery you can see a tobacco barn that belonged to Charles Lawson in that area is where the Lawson house was
Mary Lou didn’t belong to Charlie and Marie. I know Fanny gave birth to her. It is speculated that Charlie impregnated his daughter and that she was showing signs of pregnancy during the last days of her life. I’m sure there are things that no one really knows about that family.
@@NerdEpix I was curious if the daughter was pregnant when he killed her. But if he did this to one maybe another. But it was a family secret thing to pretend babies belonged to the mother of the family when born from under age or unmarried daughters.
no one will ever know if she was actually pregnant, and if she was with his kid. if you hear otherwise then think about this, how would they know ? this happened 95 years ago and they do not know factual.
I've spoken to a few of the Lawson family members. There's a lot of nonsense people are spreading about the murders. Even in that book that was written. The owners of the grave site are not usually happy about visitors, so anyone thinking about going, you need to either have to have family buried there, or get permission to be there. They are serious. Do not try to go the property where the murders happened, because the property owner there will not be happy. There is literally nothing there left from 1929 left anyway.
I live very close to this area. I have visited the cemetery many times. No one has given us a hard time. As long as you are respectful they do not mind.
I grew up near the Grogan's Motel. It was abandoned the whole time I lived there (80'S-90'S). Looks like it was fixed up into the Riverfront after that time.
I'm a new subscriber. This is the first video I've seen of yours. I haven't ever heard of this before. It's so sad. 😢 I couldn't imagine what those poor little children had to go through. How awful...!! 😢 Well, he might be buried with his family that he murdered, but I don't think he's in heaven with them. He's probably in hell. Thank you for sharing your video. I'll be excited to watch more of your videos. 😊
And yes they survived and son he is buried right behind the family plot he died in an automobile accident many years afterwards. From what I was told by family from that area that the Lawson's owned a very large burial plot already paid for so that is why they were all buried together.
Mr Lawson was thought to have gone mad from a head injury. So the town thought he wasn't responsible for the murder. The town folk had known him for over 20+ years.
I have heard this story before, but wouldn't they have done autopsy to the daughter after the murders and they could see if she was pregnant. Maybe she was pregnant from her boyfriend. I read she had a boyfriend or they did the autopsy and they found she was pregnant but they kept it quite many possibilities we will never know.
The thing is, Marie told her mother about her father molesting her way before the murders happened. It is possible that her bf could have, but who knows.
Grave plots and markers were/are expensive. No one in the area would put up that kind of money outside their household. One wide grave is cheaper to dig than one large and one small. One marker, even as large as that one is cheaper than adding a smaller one to the order. That’s why he was buried with the ones he killed. I’m sure his surviving son was in charge of the arrangements and chose the cheaper route and you can’t just wipe away the good memories from before. Also makes it easier to visit. everyone
He was not there when the rest of them were murdered. He died later. I was raised near where all this happened I have been in the old house before it was tour down
6, however, Marie (oldest daughter) may have been pregnant at the time of her death and there was also another child who passed away a few years before the murders.
I only heard about this a few years ago and wanted to try and do a detailed video of it. I know I probably missed some things, mis-pronounced some names, or got some detailed information wrong. Was trying to remember as much info as possible while doing the video. Thanks so much for the comment!

Dude!! That cool old stone building along the river there, I have always wondered about!!! Had no idea that was it's original purpose 😮 wwttthhh??? 😂😂😂 Glad to see it's being renovated and repurposed for something better than that! I'm sure plenty in the area (especially women) didn't care for that place back then.

People would know they were babies of incest. Mother's would cover Daughters saying a Baby was there's... The Mother found out these Babies were from the husband (not a boy..)
Question: If you’re saying James didn’t die that day and is buried behind, then who is the James on the big stone dated Born: Apr 5 1925 and died the very same day as all the others Dec 25 1929?? The other James behind, says born 1911. Something isn’t making sense…..who’s James on the big stone? He didn’t have 2 boys named James.
James was the other son of Charles and Fannie. There is a James Lawson and a James Arthur Lawson. He went by Arthur and he died in a car accident many years after the murders.

Could be due to cost

That wall means wall monument of Winston Salem
I wonder who furnished that stone - it looks too expensive for a poor farming family to buy.
I’ve heard that Charlie was a Freemason, and they donated it. But I’m not sure if that’s true
It was stated to me he sent James on an errand to get shot gun shells
Interesting!
Who is the James that died 12/25/29?
He would be the middle child of the boys. James William Lawson. He was 4 at the time of the murders.
