Dude that’s so sad. A reminder though that no matter how much we trust our builds, stuff beyond our control can happen. 😢
Definitely a reality check for sure! I trust my gear alot but after this my trust has been a little bit less. I'm thankful it landed where it did though and not onto the roadway nearby.
And this is why I went to crossfire from Frsky.. I fly over water ALOT!
I just have to realize I can easily loose a rig…
@@robaxelsson530I often see crossfire thought of as a silver bullet. But it isn’t.
The product is very good, but 900mhz is susceptible to interference from certain cellular transmitters. He might have very well gotten nuked by a transmitter placed on top of this building. This is a known issue and not really a bug, just something you need to be mindful of flying xf.
Second, whether it’s ELRS or XF there is no replacement for redundancy. If a key component fails in your receiver, you’re going down unless you are running dual rx, OR have GPS rescue.
This is why I don’t fly anything over water or where I cannot walk to get it without GPS.
Building dives like this are kind of eh, a gps on board to handle a failsafe is probably not a bad idea but no one likes to have to run one on their 5” freestyle quad on the regular.
@@JohnCuppi haven’t (fingers crossed) lost one in the water.. but had failsafes near buildings..
I don’t foresee any cell towers out over marsh areas .. Lowrance radar may be another issue

Brrr scary stuff. Especially because it seemed okay at the start. It's pretty unscathed for a crash like that. although it would have been nice if the tree slowed down its fall XD
Yeah it caught me off guard and you could see I was playing it real safe after it happened and built up my trust again at that spot. I probably won't fly there again lol 😆

Thanks! Yeah my crossfire has been solid for sure. This spot I believe had some serious cell phone repeaters on the top of the building I feel blasted my 915 mhz being too close to them. Once I stayed away from that one side of the building I had no more issues.

I believe there was cell tower repeaters up there but not 100 percent.
