    Definitely wasn't the biggest fan of his connections, but I'll always love Big Brown himself.

    The way they made Tom Durkin's voice sound when he shouted "It's Going to be Big Brown bounding home!" Gives me chills like no other!

    I wonder why they didn't bother to add the real reason Big Brown was pulled up? His shoe came apart and every step he took hurt him! Thank GOD he has a world class jockey that cared about the horses well being! Kent Desormeaux deserves a world class thank you from those owners and trainer! Unbelievable this piece didn't cover the FACTS!

    Big Brown one of best 3 year olds since 2000. Same breath at Point Given, American Pharoah, Cigar, Justify, Smarty Jones, Afleet Alex, etc as far as "how good were they".

    I had the pick 6 with Big Brown on my ticket worth 6000 that day was so crazy to win 5 in a row and watch the 1 to 9 shot loose. Still think something fishy happened as nick Zito was known for connections also Dutrow. I still got a nice consellation of 2000 as my 5 out of 6 paid 1800. Nobody had that crap da tara at 38 to 1 . Who had been beat 2 times by big brown and several other horses in the field by 20 plus lengths

    I thought for sure that America was going to have to have two Triple Crown winner's during the first decade of the 21st century. Absolutely thought Smarty Jones would win the Triple Crown in 2004. That one still sting's. Because the 2004 Belmont Stakes was the only stakes race that Smarty Jones ever lost. I also felt that Big Brown was in such a class of his own in 2008 that he was a shoe in to win the 2008 Triple Crown. Still have very mixed feelings to this day about Desormeux pulling him up.

    I really think that the trainers manipulate the horses as with Big Brown. Also i had 8 tickets on bodemister in the preakness as I had study the form for weeks on those 5 races at pimlico I had bet 200 dollars and 8 tickets all at 25 dollars a piece . I hit the first 4 in a row and needed bodemister a fantastic speed horse on a day when speed could not be beat. Would have won 8000 dollars as each ticket paid 1000. Ill have another came from 5 lengths behind to beat bodemiester in the stretch something that no horse had done at pimlico when the speed was that favored. 2 weeks later under the pressure at belmont of getting a quarntine test for drugs the trainer withdrew ill have another from the belmont stakes and his chance for the triple crown. It was obvious they had cheated and was obvious the horse was on drugs the day that they stole 8000 doller prize from me. I wish that the trainer and whoever was involved would have been punished but instaed the sold the horse the same day to a japenese owner for 12 million dollars and all took a cut. The news media dropped the story and life goes on as cheaters keep winning. No punishment

    Big brown had no more drugs in him than any other horse in the Derby. Don't be naive to think B.B. was the only horse getting legal steroid shot. These horses are tested after the race. There are legal limits

    I'm a horse lover, have owned many race horses and have recently got into breeding.
    Big Brown was a good horse however due to the performance enhancing drugs he was on is NOT good for our sport on a global level.
    American horses are no longer taken seriously compared to the rest of the world especially places like: Europe, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore.
    I seriously considered putting a mare of mine who is a stakes winning mare to Big Brown this season due to the Damascus bloodlines both he and my mare share but commercially it wouldn't be viable due to the drug use that is permitted in the American thoroughbred fraternity. .
    A perfect example is Big Brown's service fee's as a stallion, it's a joke, this season he stands for only $8,500 if this stallion was anywhere else in the world I can guarantee you his service fee's would not be under $50,000
    I have no idea why American thoroughbred racing don't TOTALLY abolish the use of performance enhancing drugs such as "Winstrol along with other drugs like "Clenbuterol" and "lidocaine" it's a absolute JOKE to American racing and racing in general.
    We are talking about a multi Billion dollar industry here, without gamblers or people who bet on horses, the horse racing fraternity would crumble fast.
    Once gamblers are aware that drugs are permitted within the industry they stop betting due to corruption.
    If the rest of the world are incredibly strict on drugs used in horse racing then there is NO reason why American Thoroughbred racing don't follow PERIOD.

      @DiamondMasters 9 лет назад +4

      Excuse me, but what are you talking about "performance enhancing drugs"? Big Brown ran his 2 year old maiden race on the turf, trained by Patrick Reynolds. He ran that 1 1/16 miles race in 1.40 1/5, running every quarter faster than the previous. He won by almost 12 lengths. No other 2 year old in history has ever done that. You want to tell me the horse was on drugs? If Big Brown had 4 healthy hoofs he would have won the triple crown. Trus that Rick Dutrow is a shady trainer but that should not take away from Big Brown's greatness.

      +jinska Magnificent animal? Yeah, he was pretty good when he was drugged to the gills wasn't he? Still couldn't get the triple crown, all the drugs were not enough. He deserves no respect. Over rated, drugged to the gills, and still failed to win the triple crown. Adored by crying little girls everywhere :D
