1960-1966 the whole of the ground floor was the infants (no specialist/nursery classes in those days). The upstairs was the juniors, but they had to build an annexe on the front lawn and take over an old Victorian school to provide about six extra classrooms. Much of the grounds have been built on, needed a lot of outdoor space for that many of us!

    • @ALWResearchTeam

I attended infants and juniors here from 1986-1992,... the dinner halls were the smaller one was for infants and larger one for juniors.... the kitchen was a rhrough kitchen serving both halls.... the back end of the school was a special needs and deaf school section and was out of bounds to any of us. Mr Normington was head throughout my attendance at this school and have many fond memories

This was my old primary school and we managed to get in years ago before all the graffiti.
It was still f*cked but there were a couple of rooms that were pretty clean.
I've got a video on my channel but it's only of how we got in, I've got loads of old videos of inside too, just need to edit them together and upload it.
We nicked a whiteboard and some really long wide window blinds lol
I wouldn't really call it stealing cuz they would have been smashed/sprayed up anyway.
Cool video, nice to see someone else having a look around. Peace.

It was my old primary school - was there from 2003 till it's closed. I always remember it being so huge😅 it was a great school , we were taught British Sign Language extensively which is something most schools don't do

Hello there, it sure is a huge school, Paul the photographer found a bunch of slides with sign language on in one of the rooms. It looked like it was a big happy school. Where the new apartments nearby built on the playing fields?

@@ALWResearchTeam Nah from what i remember that was always just a big concrete carpark or something.
The proper playing field is, if your going up that hill by the side of the school, to the left just there.

A strange design of a building. Governmental burocracy and health and safety stops the building from being used. There are a lot more like this. Hospitals swimming pools fire stations police stations you name it

    • @ALWResearchTeam

It was a strange design. The layout took up so much space there wasn’t any field space for the children to play on grass

Asbestos is a very real risk, it causes a unique and nasty form of lung cancer as bad as smoking related lung cancers with lots of pain and hemorrhaging. The effects often don't show for decades either so sometimes there is no way to know when and where the person was exposed, as buildings age it can cause exposure. The sooner we are rid of it the better, its ruined countless lives, both direct victims and their families.

When I was there in 1993, there was a long steep grass bank along one end of the playground. In summer all the kids would play up on there. Sports days and some outdoor P.E. lessons took place on a small playing field just down the hill on the left.

An art deco building of beauty this and should have been repurposed
