@Sedes Sapientiae: Re your "... the enemies of the Church..."
True, but the enemies are not just those outside the church, the serpent is _in_ the garden of Eden!
A case in point... all over the world confession has become deprecated. It is not as central to the faith as it once was ... I'm not talking of centuries ago... within my lifetime!
The priest defends the new stance by saying: "All you have to do is ask... Come up to me anytime and ask for an appointment... Or come for the 6 a.m. daily mass - BEFORE it begins - and I'll hear your confession." Blarney!
      God be praised!

@@thecatholicman yes thank you for sharing , I would like to instead of criticizing how bad these measures have been to Catholics it’s perhaps healthier to the church ,to work hard to have a communication with some priests and bishops so we go back to the reverence that is required for our Lord , eventually .but if listen to criticism we end up talking bad and that doesn’t help .
What helps as you said is to be a witness to others of that the church is meant to be.

Unbelievable, yet tragically in these perilous and hedonistic times, in which we live, sadly, it's only all too easily believable, Robert. I was in Santiago De Compestella, on my way to Fatima for the Centenary celebrations, and was delighted to find the Confessionals inside Cathedral. Some priests were manning them and confessions were going-on. 5 years ago, there was nothing said about taking the Eucharist home as a souvenir. Nothing. How much things have changed in such as short span of time? It's disgraceful. Outrageous. The Traditional Mass and the liturgical celebration of the TLM for 1969 years, was, and is so right. So reverent by comparison, including kneeling and rightful giving glory and worship to God. Good for for you for displaying your faith, reverence and love for the Eucharist by kneeling in reception of the host at the NO Mass. Fundamentally, you and those like you are silently and reverently displaying your faith, love, hope and trust in our King. Renew the Eucharist is right. So now they're encouraging penitents not to seek reconciliation with Christ, thus potentially opening souls to condemnation by receiving Our Blessed Lord in a possible state of Mortal Sin. The mind and soul boggles. Thank you for standing up and being counted.

Amen, respect for the Eucharist needs to return - and if the priests won’t do it, the lay faithful must lead the way.
If you’re able, please say a prayer for the crucifix of the Parish of The Holy Name of Jesus in the Edmonton diocese.
I will be transporting it (taking it on a personal pilgrimage of sorts) Thursday this week in preparation for the Papal Mass as the Pope visits Canada.
I pray that Jesus might present himself to the hierarchy of the Church in a deeply personal and miraculous way as those present at the papal mass look upon the crucifix!

Not sure where you live, or where your mind is at, but it’s an extremely odd way to troll - I’m Canadian (known for being genuinely very polite, and doing such horrendous things like holding the door open for perfect strangers, and waving at other vehicles on gravel roads as we drive by when we don’t even know who they are). Also, we not only apologize too much (notice how I started this comment with the word ‘sorry’;), but we also say ‘please’ and ‘thank you’ a lot (and we mean it when we say it).
If you genuinely have issues with manners, don’t ever travel to the Canadian Prairies (especially rural Saskatchewan) or you’ll like have a conniption fit.
I will not adjust my language, and if the word ‘please’ is going to be the next targeted word to eliminate from societal use, will woke culture please give me another word to use? I won’t use it, but it would sure be amusing to see what they come up with!
For the time being I will definitely continue to teach my 4 children genuine manners, the words please and thank you are highly favoured in our home, and will continue to be - nothing to do with your inordinate hatred of words that happen to be used by people you also happen to hate... with this type of logic, English will soon disappear altogether.

So true. It would be an added witness to the faith to have the confessionals in public view in the nave of the cathedral instead of “hidden” in the chapels … and it’s also true if there were communion rails for the faithful to kneel and receive the Eucharist this would be a natural witness to the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist.
The prelates say they are very concerned about the lack of belief among Catholics, in the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist, and yet they refuse to restore simple things to the practice of the faith, “traditional” things that would help strengthen belief and allow the faithful to be a witness simply by their example of receiving the sacraments in a most reverent way. +++

Carolina, especially after the world went into shutdown. We began kneeling and receiving on the tongue, a little on the cheeky side but when more imitated more and more joined the mission to reinstate due reverence. Now about 5% maybe 10% do so. It takes hold slowly but we have hope. Shame that this is happening. I found this prayer and kept it. I recommend we all offer it up to God every morning. Eternal Father, in the name of Jesus, allow me to receive spiritual communion with all the Hosts that have been and will be stolen to be profaned anywhere in the world on this day before these Hosts are touched; allow me to commune with the essence that is there, Thy Most Sacred Body and Thy blessed Blood, come to the refuge of my heart, I wish to ask Thy forgiveness, embrace Thee, kiss Thee and love Thee and then place Thee in the arms of Thy Most Holy Mother so that Mary may make amends, repair, adore and bless Thy heart hurt by the ingratitude of man. I'm 54 and I grew up in the Novus Ordo Mass in Scotland. We had altar rails and mostly received on the tongue while kneeling. The altar boys (no girls) always held a paten under the communicant's chin. Only the priests gave out the Eucharist. There was much more reverence when receiving. We didn't have laypersons distributing Holy Communion. This was the case up until the mid-eighties. I am not keen on having extraordinary Eucharistic ministers. If the priest has to take an extra 10 or 15 minutes distributing communion so be it. Ironically enough, Ray Grijalba from the Joy of the Faith RUclips site carried out a study and he found that receiving the Eucharist kneeling down at an altar rail was a faster way to distribute the Holy Eucharist. Bringing home the Eucharist as a souvenir -- that's an abomination that needs to stop.

So was this celebrated as the TLM? Just because in the NO, the Missal does state that "Amen" is to be said by the person receiving Christ. You mentioned the Priest says it in the TLM but I wasn't sure if you were saying that as an argument for it not to be said in the NO

The removal of the confessionals is not surprising. It has been my opinion for several decades already that there is a concerted effort by the Church to clandestinely eliminate Confession as a sacrament. Today, only a third of American Catholics believe in Transubstantiation. Almost all the parishioners in a given mass go to receive communion. When I was a child in the sixties, this was never the case. Back then, it was understood that if one was not in a state of grace, one could not receive communion and would have to be absolved beforehand in order to be able to. Priests in their homilies nearly never speak about Confession and being in a state of grace in order to be able to receive. They just want everyone to come up. They are so obsessed about this, that they have come up with the blessing alternative. If I am not in a state of grace I just remain in my seat. The onus is on me.

If you read the conditions of the Indult to receive in the hand, it is clear that certain conditions must be in place and strict protocols followed. In other words this type of reception of communion was for extreme circumstances with communion on the tongue being the proper and prefared way by the Vatican.
As l understand the conditions of the indult; if there is a possibility of desecration or sarcralige being commited then the priest is supposed to refer to the original form of distribution of the Eucharist on the tongue only.
The Eucharist is not a souvineer. It is supposed to be consumed before the priest not put in a pocket as a trophy.
This is the precious Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of the second person of The Holy Trinity who desires to dwell in our souls, hearts and minds and nowhere else.
I can't understand how a priest can say that he wouldn't advise taken the Holy Eucharist home in their pockets as a souvineer and being aware of this then continue to distribute Communion in the hand.
Surely he must understand and have read the conditions of the Indult of which the very first one refers to the celebrant and servers with regard to sarcralige and dessecration of the Eucharist

There was a reason to remove the Confessionals from the nave - and tuck them away in side chapels - indeed a 'good' one, at least in terms of diabolic disorientation. The demons loath all things holy to God, especially the Blessed Virgin and the Most Holy Sacrifice of the Altar (indeed any reverence toward them) .. but, it seems, they are angered and even deranged by .. the Sacrament of Penance. Don't ask me why, I'm just a foot soldier - called to do my duty, the exorcists are the ones who can help explain it.
Keep the Faith; tell the truth, shame the devil, and let the demons shriek.
    God bless. ;o)
