Props to GOG for hosting this mod and for providing the correct version of FO4.
I am glad the mod authors were able to capture the authentic Bethesda experience when it comes to bugs and glitches.
That's the Creation Engine guarantee.
Not much you can do bout it sadly
Tbh, this might be a bit overblown, at least from my experience. I got ~6h playtime and London has not crashed or bugged out in any way for me during that time
@@Jupexi know people like to meme on it but its not really the problem , it's just with a big project like an open world fallout game , things will inevitably break and you have to do a lot of QA to make sure every aspecy of the game works ( and that your fix doesn't break something else ) , the side effect of using creation engine is the jank of many aspects especially since this version of it dates back to 2015
@@TheSkoneczny117 Honestly my comment was not an indictment of the mod authors. It was my attempt at humor and poking fun at Bethesda more than anything. Mad props to the mod devs.
So as I recall from a dev video long ago, those two scientists at the beginning of the game are played by Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy aka the 6th and 7th incarnations of Doctor Who. That was one hell of a hire by Team FOLON.
I made a joke about one of them being Sylvester Mcoy after his hilarious rolling R's, didn't realise it was actually him. Nice.
Incarnation, not incantation.
Words have meanings honey.
@@yolobathsalts I blame autocorrect. Fixed now.
Ah yes, just like in Oblivion, hiring famous actors only for them to die in the tutorial.
@@Stevey2578probably all the lines they could feasibly afford
true london experience by running around with a knife
The fact they were able to take this project all the way to fairly playable conditions,
is already a HUGE achievement.
Congratulations to the modders' group who made Fallout London,
aka Team FOLON®.
You've now reached the official status of "heroes" among video-gamers,
as far as I'm concerned!
Also thanks Bethesda for (eventually) allowing publication.
Especially after we've seen several total game conversion projects
being unceremoniously killed in the past by their respective games' copyright owners,
sometimes after modders had dedicated up to several years of their time and passion to them.
Thanks for your videos!
Which project were killed by Bethesda? The only thing that cokes to mind is Skyblivions restriction to require Oblivion installed.
One thing to keep in mind, if you grab the GoG version, it can be installed alongside your regular Fo4 install.
@@TheBard1999 none. there was only a issue with F3's VA but the project is still going
@@TheBard1999I think they're referring to other game companies. As Bethesda has always been very accommodating to their modder community.
@@TheBard1999
I didn't say by Bethesda specifically.
Quoting: "being unceremoniously killed in the past by their respective games' copyright owners".
When I wrote it, I was mainly thinking about some Half Life related projects.
There might have been cases related to Bethesda, though, not sure about it.
Possibly in the Elder Scrolls series, possibly in the Fallout one.
I'm sure if you want to dig into it you'll find out the specifics,
or if it's just a false memory of mine.
What stays with me in cases like these is more or less just the generic memory of a delusion.
But video-games are a hobby for me, so I don't keep notes or things like that,
and I tend not to focus too much of my serious study time to this hobby:
sorry, but I'm too old for that (born in the '70s of the last century...).
Thank you, and the others,
for clarifying the topic!
'Tis all canon, now. Innit?
8:38 nooooo I did that same!!!! That note is a prank from devs, it hilarious
Yeah I thought it was funny so I threw it in there
From the introduction alone, i had hours of askin "how come bethesda didnt thought of this" starting with the existance of a breakable glass 😅. I love the presentstion of the narrative being reminiscent of BioShock and Half-life
Yeah, the only thing they thought of was how to sabotage a free, labour-of-love TC, because it made them look like the no-imagination rank amateurs they are!
A Fallout game set in the post apocalyptic US: Shooting Radscorpions with mini-nukes
A Fallout game set in the post apocalyptic UK: trying to kill mutated vermin with a switch blade...
Sounds right to me ;)
I really love the art style. Since I only own the base game on steam (I didn't like it very much), I will get in on GOG.
As someone who still plays and mods Fallout 4, I'm so happy that Fallout London is getting so much attention from the wider gaming community.
Kudos to the many hardworking modders involved in making Fallout London!
One thing to keep in mind, if you grab the GoG version, it can be installed alongside your regular Fo4 install.
Best part is your surprise at a torch being called a torch.
To really drive home that the whole place is a land of make believe!
Very Olympic too, btw:
perfect timing!
Bro you call your adult ball pit place Balley Ballerson
When you get off at Heathrow you take the Piccadilly Line terminating at Cockfosters
You have ice cream called “Nobbly Bobbly”
Everything is a circus here, Piccadilly Circus, Bakerloo circus.
You have stops like Bromley By Bow and Elephant & Castle
Aluminium.
I’ve realized living here that like 2/3rds of what seemed whimsical in Harry Potter is just typical British silliness.
@@rusk3986 Fair enough, but Aluminium is actually correct, and the Americans messed that one up.
@@BRBS360 yeah, because it was too silly.
You named your character "Cheerio"? Absolutely massive W
I'm so glad there is this Check Out from Mort.
I was mildly wondering about this project but with no intention on playing.
So I get a standard treatment that paid games get, but for an ambitious large conversion mod.
Nice.
This feels like the vibe We Happy Few was shooting for and missed. That funky psychedelic, grungy '60s-70s England aesthetic.
B-but Fallout is 50s aesthetic.
The mod has aesthetics taken from all decades. Cctv cameras are place commonly, tesco has plastic bags, the main currency are electronic tickets.
Paul would have loved this. RIP MittenSquad
RiP
Oh god seems we might see Archolos and Enderal reviews in future!
Hyped!
Thanks, didn't know about Archolos
Maybe Arktwend and Nehrim too
While I might make videos on them at some point, they will not be reviews
Watched this get played by a British streamer and it seems like it's really well done, lots of Easter eggs, and is fun to explore. The characters seem really engaging as well ... I'm actually considering buying this whole game over again just to play the mod.
If it helps, I was able to downgrade it with Steam (I just had to make a file not "read-only"). I also recommend a mod called Buffout to avoid crashes. Have fun!
Yep this was how I got it to work, crashes are mega rare now
I do think for a lot of older games GOG is the way to go as they package dosbox or the settings to make it work on modern systems.
Generally yes, but not always, Temple of Elemental Evil for instance still requires mods to be playable and GoG is the only place to buy that one these days
I didn't like it (boring fetch quests, bullet-spongy enemies/crap combat balance, *insane* loading times), but I respect the hell outta this crew for making it happen.
Edit: the loading times can be fixed with a mod.
The game is really raw, undercooked, very harsh on the edges, always one bug away from the desktop of your pc... but I personally love it. Can't recommend it to everyone, without the mod for the loading times it is literally unplayable, taking 2 or 3 or more minutes to load 😢. The feeling of playing it makes me remember vampire the mascarade bloodlines, a great but very buggy and unfinished game
Tow nations separated by a common language. In the UK we call it a torch.
That's the joke
The install was a bit of a nightmare but with the help of the Folon Discord folks I was able to get it running on my STEAM version of the game in just a couple of hours. Have had a couple of bad bugs but for the most part the game is beautiful and running well. Kudos to the Folon team. I'm sure with a little time the bugs will get ironed out enough that it will be just as buggy as the vanilla game :)
That be cool if they can continue to smooth things out and add to it, maybe eventually we’ll have Fallout Kiev or fallout Amsterdam.
Kyiv*
Its kiev in english dumbass@@zoltankovai1839
Whatever you do don't pick up the "Combat Coaster" collectible item, it's bugged atm and halves your damage output.
@@_Shadoh_ Good timing 😂, yeah there's a console command to remove the perk and I've just found a mod on Nexus that claims to fix the beer mats. Might give it a whirl.
It's a free mod at the beginning of the day too.
Incorrect, from 12am to 1am it is actually $10,000.
You're awesome, was just thinking of asking about this on your next video and you've already got it covered
Yea my only advice for this game is to have your autosave going AT ALL TIMES. Just in case trust me you'll be thanking me.
Buffout 4 will fix the crashes btw. Thanks for covering this! Glad to see it get so much coverage.
Nice detail - they used Van Burren (aka Fallout 3 from original creators) jumpsuit for your character
Its really lovely how good this has turned out so far! I was so excited about the whole project that I even wrote a fanmade song. I just Love that we get too explore a totally new world with a really different vibe!
I hope it does well enough to get a steam release one day
I spent around 4 hours trying to get this mod to work, getting other mods to make it work better. I will say it was totally worth it. Really loving this mod, has some NV vibes, feels more rpg again, and i love the setting. It's actually challenging again on very hard or survivor. I love as well how they pretty much have there own lore , monsters ext. It really feels like its own game.
So glad that gog picked up the mod after bethesda shafted it.
Super enjoyable. Gonna wait a few months till it gets updated. Long load times and 5 crashes in 4 hours. Bit much.
Sure it will be get much smoother with future updates!
1. Thanks for covering this!
2. Sooooo how about a video on Moon Ring? It seems right up your alley yet simultaneously a bit different from the other RPGs you cover. And hey, it’s free! :)
Been playing it since Thursday, has it's CTDs & bugs, but, what else do ya expect from a Bethesda engine?
Have to say, I haven't had this much fun playing a Fallout game since New Vegas.
Intro gave me a good laugh as a British person, well done.
My favorite channel by a long shot and yes ive been waiting for Fallout london for AGES now
I'm really excited to try this in a month or two, once they've ironed out the technical issues. It looks fantastic! And, because I'm a sane person, I'll be using my shiny new GOG copy for the experience. Not to mention, given I'm not American, it will be really interesting to see a different perspective on the franchise.
Absolutely loving it! Playing it through on Survival, it is haarrrd!
I started playing it , I really like the Voice acting so far, shame the fallout 4 update screwed them quite a bit as i reckon the things to get the game working is going to put a few people off. I do think though the creators did such a good job I wonder if they could create a original game.
Having an absolute blast, the story and writing are pretty excellent, and having fully voiced characters is sensational. I've only 1 crash so far but getting the Buffout4 mod fixed it. The lack of guns is also a lore choice, even police in the UK don't really carry them, unless they are specially trained, there are significantly less guns in general compared to you guys Muricafreedom folk.
A full review after 100% completion would be awesome!
Definitely high on my list of things to play... Just going to wait a couple months till things get ironed out. Seems to be the best way to play nowadays.
Was cool to see this mod featured on GOG
The fact the switch blade has the Octane stim animations from Apex Legends has me geeking.
I did not expect you to cover this, do you think you'll do a review of it later on? Also, I was wondering if some time in the future you might do a PIllars of Eternity for Beginners type of video, akin to your Pathfinder videos? I'd eat that video up
Overall I think the mod community has done something amazing yet again. Things like Skyblivion, Skywind, Fallout London, and Fallout 4 New Vegas are all massive feats that prove oftentimes the players are the best devs. As much as I might dislike FO4 or Starfield, I know that there are people like the Fallout4London team making incredible things from these games and that Bethesda is enabling them to do so with the tools they provide
No, I won't be reviewing this. Probably not on PoE, maybe if Avowed sees everyone clamoring to play them
@@MortismalGaming Awesome, Avowed is probably going to bring a ton of new eyes to the PoE series (at least that's what it did for me) and I can't wait to see what you think of that game when it releases!
For me the train crashed so hard that the game crashed itself :D but it turned out these CTD's can be cured by a mod called Buffout 4 from Nexus. The Steam version downgrader worked for me, but it took a long time to get installed. Anyway, a great experience, I recommend it to every FO fan :)
Looks interesting! I don't see a problem with having all new organizations and mutations. What else can you do without violating copyright? I'm excited to try it.
I'm excited to play this! I'd love to see you review it fully.
Hi Mortismal
I recommend you check out Seal of Evil
Its an old oriental squad CRPG/ARPG that's a bit like Prince of Qin but leans a bit more towards the ARPG side of things than Prince of Qin.
Its out on GoG now and currently on an 80% discount or so.
Thanks for the review, I was curious how good does it run. Hope they'll fix it soon, cause there isn't much Fallout anyway these days. Good luck to devs!
Thanks for the video. I think the post apocalypse environment does lend itself naturally to regional interpretations. Onward to 400k. All glory to the algorithm.
If he does this than i can't wait for him doing Skyoblvion or Apotheosis
Huh, I guess that's one way to find out they finally got a release together
I want this mod in vr so badly
I hope to see more Doctor Who references in Fallout London. Besides the voices of the scientists the Thamesfolk design are very similar to the sea devils from Doctor Who (which one of them mention that some people call them)
I've seen some 'Bad Wolf' graffiti around as well.
Looking forward to getting into this mod. Been so for a couple years now.
Such a huge achievement and labor of love the devs deserve so much credit. It’s just a shame that the idea of a fallout game outside of the US is inherently never going to work. Pulp americana is a crucial piece of the fallout formula and europeans can simply never understand it
So, erh... capitalism and its effects on an apocalypse can be extrapolated by anyone's imagination. In fact, there is a whole literary world dedicated to this, including in languages other than English... it is worth exploring and learning other languages. Political satire and all the criticisms involved in acid humor can be achieved with time and money. So... there is life and creativity beyond North America, or rather the USA. America isn't just you... you know? history, geography and such..
@@andersonfaleiro6527 I honestly have no idea how this relates to what I wrote but I kinda feel like you're proving my point
@@EatitAlive well... you said it was sad that people outside the United States of America wouldn't be able to create an effective Fallout because they didn't understand the "pulp Americana", right?
I was wondering, are you referring to anyone outside the USA or just Europeans?
haha anyway, am I wrong in my interpretation of the text in your comment? You may have had another intention, but in the text... it sounded like this.
Does the dog say "Oh yes" ?
He says 'OI, MATE!!'
for me besides random crashes, the worst things are long loading times, and i find a lot of the quest markers are unhelpful and im scouring a area trying to work out where to go
Long load time fix mod. Get it buffout also helps stability, get it's requisites, but follow the instructions if the mod, and get correct version 1.10.163.0 if it's mentioned
The long loading time fix mod helped me with this
@@GoalOrientedLifting thanks i check it out
@@GoalOrientedLifting did you mod this the same way fallout 4?
Looks cool, I'll have to check it out at some point.
Thanks for the advice about installation!
Imagine if bethesda hired these developers and then professionally made this mod as a new fallout game.
it came out?
YES
Hey mort do you play on a 4k monitor or 1080p?
Interesting, the channel Description lists key hardware components.
But not the monitor.
1080p, good one. You're funny.
But still, question is valid and I think popping that info into the channel Description would be a good idea.
I play and record in 4k, though generally only reviews are actually encoded and uploaded in 4k because the file sizes for that are ridiculous.
I think the only part that really turns me off is the "bullets are scarce, focus on melee" part. Other than that it looks really good.
There are like 0 guns in the UK compared to the States so they probably wanted to keep it more realistic. It would be really weird if you could just find random guns and ammo lying around.
That was thw best opening of your video ever lmao
Looks like a fun and interesting take on thd original series.
For me, majority of ctd/crashes were mitigated by setting overall graphics to high and disabling weapon debris (possibly buffout mod, too. Several changes at once so I dunno).
i am having a ton of fun with the mod. i had a bit of trouble gettign it to run, but I ot good help on the discord.
I wish I could play it for more than 10 minutes without it crashing. But that's Fallout for you.
@@jonpaul6948 Yeah I tried all the fixes. Nothing helped.
Love it.. love overhaul mods.. made games(ip) like warband/x2(egosoft)/stalker series absolutely replayable.
Notable note for Fallout NV and XCom(longwars).
Not gonna play this yet though since I have FO4 on Steam.. wait for the dev to 'patch' things up.. any who I'm back playing POE2 to refresh my memory before AVOWED drops in Nov.
I just re bought it on GOG..no probs.
Fantastic game
Gog is always the first way to go, since it is DRM free
lol middenlurk.
also, finally pipboy leaves the wrist.
Would you say the game revolves more around combat loop like fallout 4/76 or more like new vegas (or at least far harbor dlc) where the main focus is narrative and questing?
Definitely more of a narrative focus, of course there is combat but so far the map is not nearly as dense with combat encounters as Fallout 4. Feels more like walking the long way to Vegas but in a Fallout 3 type of cityscape. Combat is also pretty challenging early on as you don't have a ton of stimpacks and no firearms at all unless you get very lucky. Ammunition is also scarce, I currently have 12 rounds for my 9mm Luger, 52 rounds of .32 for the Walther PPK and a whopping 8 shells for the shotgun. At the same point of Fallout 4 I would have plenty of 10mm, .38 and Fusion cells.
@@Vonstab sounds really great!
Narrative, there are actual speechchecks and other so you should start the game focusing on specific attributes. Combat seems mostly meele focused and there are a lot of perks to choose from.
@@TheBard1999 The combat is not so much melee focused as it is much more balanced between melee and shooting compared to Fallout 4. You can and will get firearms once you once leave the tutorial but how fast depends on which quests you follow. At least that is my experience so far.
I was hoping for more commentary from on the story
It makes me sad this will never come to console
I’m going to install it with MO2 into my Steam version I never let update. It’s going to be one I might give a month to let some bugs get fixed.
The Mojave of new Vegas is keeping me busy anyhow.
torch vs flashlight is a common vernacular difference in UK eng. try changing your smartphones default language to UK english, for that, and other examples.
If only it didn't crash every 5-10 minutes
Since you're open to reviewing mods now, you should really check out Enderal, it's legit better than Skyrim. The world building, writing, gameplay mechanics and region based difficulty are all massive improvements.
This isnt a review and I wont be reviewing any mods. I may at some point make videos on stuff like Enderal etc, but no reviews.
@@MortismalGaming Why not review mods ? is is because they're free ? Imo Fallout London and mods of that tier are basically full games.
Seeing your character creator it is obvious something went very wrong with my game, I start in my house and then I can't leave it.
I was going to download it... but I decided to wait until they fix some bugs and issues fully...
As a Londoner the mod is disturbingly accurate to the city itself, the Thames is only slightly less toxic to swim through irl. I imagine a lot of the references may go over your head if you aren't British. As for crashes after installing Buffout 4 I've not had any issues with crashing and Long Loading Times Fix helps with the loading times between zones.
This is a great mod!
now you must try Gothic 2 mod Chronicles of Myrtana
Best Fallout game since Fallout New Vegas.
i can som1 help i have fallout4 on gog and fallout london and when i click play it always loads into fallout4 and not fallout london dont make sense thanks
For those actually living in London. How close are their streets and everything to the real thing?
Since you are doing mods, how about a video on Enderal for Skyrim?
eh, this just looks like london we have today tbh
I wish i could play it, but it seems to crash every 10 minutes for me, so i'll wait a few weeks for updates to try to fix the bugs and crash.
But why Deep Ones?
Why not?
Thank you for making this. It’s really interesting to go through this with you. Can’t wait to watch the rest of this
Did anyone else have trouble getting this to work without quests breaking?
I'm level 15 and I've only had one quest that was sort of half broken as I was still able to get through it. You open a door in order to go on a boat ride and after I opened it I went off adventuring for many hours and when I came back it was closed again and the button to open it was unresponsive. The boat locks you in though and after several tries you can get blocked between an NPC and the door and it pushes you through.
Other than that I've had two types of crashes one type just random which can be lessened with the buffout mod and another scarier one that gives a fatal error message. For those I've had to revert to a previous save to try and work around them since it will happen consistently once it starts. Sounds rough I know but I've only had two of those types throughout my run and never lost much time.
I love what I've played of it...too bad it's only been like 3 minutes with constant crashes and bad framerate :P
I imagine it'll be great once it gets a bunch of stability fixes.
jolly good ol chap
