Ed, there is no limit on the number of visa exemption entries into Thailand. So you will be good to go in November. But if you want to get a visa get the DTV and get stamped in for 6 months.
There is still the guideline of 180 days max in any Calendar/Tax year on tourist status and Eddy already had 5.5 months in Thailand this year that was done on 2 visa exemption stamps + 3 x 30 day extensions one of which the hospital got on medical grounds and an overstay which is not a problem for him being black listed as the hospital sorted it on medical grounds but the fine had to be paid. For the DTV things are still murky and you need a reason to get one such as a contract of employment from an overseas employer you working as a remote worker for, a professional portfolio or doing a language, cooking, Muay Thai etc study course. Add into the mix Thailand has a new PM (but the puppet master is the same) and the new cabinet will not be in place till the end of this week and everything is under review. Thailand is restructuring the visa types and have said they will reduce the number of types from 17 to 7 that they will roll out from next month to the end of the year.
