I bought this plane about a month or so ago and have flown it probably 50+ times and it's a blast and very stout, I do however reccomend removing the landing hear skirts not the wheel pants, just the skirts as they tend to cut into the lower wing on harder landings, other than that this plane is a sweet little flyer, I own several planes both sport and 3d and this is among my favorites. Happy flying!
Awesome model, and great flying! This one tempts me, just because it looks so cool and I love bipes, but it is a bit out of my flying style and ability. I hope Horizon doesn't give up on the brushed UMs that I can fly nice and slow in the small area in front of my house. These brushless UMXs are too fast to be flown in the really small areas, which is kind of what UMs were all about. :/
Thanks! Yeah you need a little more space especially with this one since it is more of a sport plane. The as3xtra would be perfect for that lot across from you and you can definitely fly it slow and easy. :) Have you seen the spacewalker that's coming soon? Should be great for some relaxed backyard flying!
RCdeparture nice review! I think this will be my next plane. I'd like to point out that the stock 180mAh battery from the Parkzone UMX Icon A5 should also work with this plane.
Ok John, if you had to pick of the following 3 Bipes, which would you choose: the UMX Pitts S-1S, UMX Waco or (for a curve) the UMX P3 Revolution? I realize all are better at different things, but my thought is the Pitts should be similar to the Waco??? And, wouldn't the P3 just be the best of both worlds...ability to just cruise around and then get a little aggressive? I'm not a huge 3D guy, but I still fly a Night VisionAire. Not that $20 bother me, but there is a big UMX sale now and the older two models are just that much cheaper. So, if the Waco (and for wind I do like the safe select for landings only) has advanced further in time, with regards to better flight times d/t a wider flight envelope (which you did like) then I'll get it. If she's gonna' be an equal to the PItts, then I'll pick the Pitts over the Waco. Finally, I'm thinking if the P3 can be both...a wide envelope flier that can cruise like the Waco and then get SILLY, I'll go with that. (Hmmm, was there a shorter way to ask that? LOL). Mahalo, James.
hmmmmm....just one right? I'd probably split the difference, save a few bucks and get the P3. It's a wilder plane than the waco, and the waco is the better looking model. But you didn't leave me any room here! lol. I'll always go for a plane that can get a little crazy-I still have a P3 for a reason. :)
Discover RC - That's kinda my thinking. Not the sale, just the possibilities. You get me. Thanks. Oh, any build issues with the gluing of the top wing struts from the factory? That's the only negative I noticed.
Here is a quick flight review of the cub: ruclips.net/video/gavYnko1iZY/видео.html I did have a viking but never got around to a review and it's since been sold.
Do you think this is too much for a relative newbie. Just started less than 2 weeks ago. Lots of time on Phoenix sim led to 17 uneventful flights in Chanp, Radian, Super Cub S and two flights today in an Apprentice. If the answer is no, in that I love biplanes, what biplane would you recommend for a newbie? Great video BTW!
+Sandy Scott Hi Sandy, thanks for checking it out! If you are flying the Apprentice and cub with no difficulties you will probably be ok. You have come pretty far for only 2 weeks! I might say get some more Apprentice time in first. The Pitts even though smaller is a more aerobatic and powerful plane-it goes where it is pointing so you do need to react a bit faster. I would say just get real comfortable with the ailerons on the on the Apprentice-do some rolls etc and then take up the Pitts. But really no reason it can't be your next plane.
+Discover RC Cool, thanks. I do have 15,200 plus hours of jet piloting time and a degree in aeronautical engineering which I thought would hamper me, but I seem to be nicely progressing. I'm going to take your advice and get more time in with the Apprentice. Today was its maiden flight and by the second battery, I ventured into the experienced mode (gave up on beginner mode after the first minute - too boring) and played a bit doing some aerobatics and my airplane survived. :) I do have my eye on that Pitts!!
+Sandy Scott Don't think you will have no problems at all! The Pitts is a great little plane. You've progressed really fast and if you are doing aerobatics on the Apprentice you'll be good with the little bipe. The main thing you'll notice is the better power, faster roll rate and elevator response.
Your review is nice and makes me drool of what a good looking shiny plane it is when you do the close up view on it. Nice flying.
+Chase Aring thanks Chase

RCdeparture Very interesting! I'll have to keep my eye on that one for sure. :)
Nice video. I bought mine today from Hobby Town USA in Cheyenne Wyoming.
+Cory Reeves thanks-still one of the best umx planes. Have fun with it!
I will :)
Such a nice looking little plane.

Nick C. thanks - yup that pack would work. I am thinking of taking this one up fpv.
RCdeparture interesting idea! I'd love to see it!

haven't had any problem with the struts. Just check them and glue if needed-should be fine.
Sir what is the price of this Rc plen

Here is a quick flight review of the cub: ruclips.net/video/gavYnko1iZY/видео.html I did have a viking but never got around to a review and it's since been sold.
