The bottles say to refrigerate after opening soooooo 🤷🏾♀️ case closed, right?! 😂 Can you do a video on what it’s like living with others who have a different eating styles/habits? Does everyone tend to just cook for themselves? Do you cook and just adjust based on diets? When you transitioned, were there discouraging comments or backhanded jokes that made it difficult or make you feel uncomfortable from the people you live with? Or were people supportive?
I’m vegan and have been for 4 years. It was tough initially. I got sooooo many comments and jokes from family and friends. Even my grandma and mother told me NOT to force my then 6-7 year old daughter not to go vegan because “she’s been raised on meat!” 🙄 Now they’re all inquiring about plant based foods because of dishes that I’ve made and brought to the family gatherings. I wish I would’ve just gone ahead and transitioned my daughter, although now, she tries some of my vegan meals. My boyfriend (and daughter) are meat eaters so I cook and shop for them simultaneously. It took a little minute to get my mojo but all is well!
Charmaine Brim appreciate the response! I live with my boyfriend and his two boys And they are big meat eaters (I don’t eat beef or pork). But it’s always an “issue” when it comes time for family meals (mainly dinner). We share the cooking responsibility, so of course when I cook I accommodate for my eating habits and theirs. But when it’s his turn to cook it seems to be an issue or inconvenience. When we grocery shop and he picks up foods I don’t eat (like pork chops or beef patties) and I mention he doesn’t have to get a lot since I don’t eat it, he becomes visibly irritated and annoyed. So it’s discouraging knowing that I want to make more changes (like possibly transitioning to pescatarian and he doesn’t eat seafood).
@@ayygeesmylz sounds like your boyfriend is the problem and not your food choices. Making sure your food needs are met should be easy. In my friend group we have multiple food allergies & preferences (no eggs, dairy, chicken, coconut, etc.) When we get together we make sure that everyone has plenty of food options. It's not that hard. Your dude really shouldn't struggle with helping/supporting you. Sorry.

I’ve been “kinda” plant based for a while, a lot of the foods I eat regularly are plant based but I made the decision to go all in last week. My mom and I started eating earth balance butter like 6 years ago not even realizing it was vegan. It’s all we use. We love it. It’s not so hard to be fully plant based, just requires some preparation.
My diet is mostly raw vegan. Breakfast and snacks and sometimes lunch is fruit monomeal. Watermelon, pears, plums, bananas, cherries, grapes, mangos, figs, oranges, Etc. Lunch and dinners a salad like meal. I make a homemade dressing - sauce for the salad and to marinate the mushrooms. Asian marinade, Chipotle tahini sauce, Asian peanut sauce, guacamole, Etc. I do not use oil. Mustard and ketchup is in the fridge. I leave peanut butter and Tahini in the pantry, putting them in the refrigerator makes them thick and hard to deal with.
My fav nut milk that I've gotten soo many ppl addicted to is SILK ALMOND CASHEW PROTEIN MILK. It's the closet alternative to milk bcuz it contains 10grams of protein per cup. BEST BUTTER EVER, miyoko butter. I find that all the earth balance bitter have a slight rancid smell. Or when you brown it, it smells horrible. The miyoko one browns and smells like browned butter. I would highly reccomend those 2 things. Bomb lol

I just started plant based again for the second time (watching What the Health gave me the push) I feel way more confident this time with a more realistic approach so I’m able to stick to it and its great! So fun coming up with new tasty recipes. This video helped so much giving me insight on different ways to use things. Thank you!
When you said cold ketchup and hot fries, I fell out my chair. I thought I was the only one. When I usually tell people I love this they look at me funny.
I've always preferred ketchup & mustard in the cupboard/pantry. It's what I grew up doing, but I honestly don't like cold mustard or ketchup--I find them a little gross when they're cold.
I’m vegetarian right now finally made my transition from pescatarian 😅. I would love to go vegan however many vegan products have “soy” and I am intolerant to “soy.”
I try to avoid soy as well. There are alternatives for most products. Instead of tofu, you can try Pumfu which is made from pumpkin seeds. Instead of soy sauce, I like the No Soy brand which is a good alternative. Most packaged products have soy in them anyway because it's added to everything, but, there are ways around it. Most times, I just go for whole foods.
Please consider making a cookbook! I’d be the first to buy it! I’m not 100% vegan, but I do eat a lot of plant based foods. Your dishes sound yummy and your book would be a BEST SELLER!! 😁
This is so helpful! New subscriber! My daughter is a natural born vegan due to her crazy amount of allergies so I’m always looking for things to make for her. She’s 3 and her docs always ask me what’s my secret with her being the perfect weight and height for her age and I’m like her diet. They always wonder how I got her to eat this way and I tell them it’s all she knows so you’re definitely doing the right thing with your child. Don’t let anyone say that the baby is missing out. I get the sugar free apple sauce and use it to make pouches for my toddler. You can get reusable pouches on Amazon. Their great because you can pack it with fruits and vegetables and they'll never know. Lol ( unless they watching you blending)
Been watching and learning your great tips for years. Your helpful energy is not only educational , it’s light heartedly delightful. Thank you for your honest energy.
I put ALL condiments in the fridge. I just started a plant based diet at the beginning of the year and I'm trying different things so your videos help so much. Thanks for the hot sauce tip, I'm making buffalo cauliflower bites for Super Bowl Sunday.
Since I don't use oil, to make my dressings and sauces creamy, I use tahini or hummus. To keep them from tasting flat I use lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, balsamic vinegar, or brown rice vinegar depending on what flavor I want.

That earth balance butter is DIVINE. my grandmother can’t have dairy bc of medal stuff and like a true southerner she just dumps copious amounts of butter on everything. Had to teach her to chill out of that. But she really likes earth balance. It’s good just on toast too.
Chick pea or lentil pasta with hummus is amazing. Put the hummus on top after you boil the pasta like a sauce. It tastes like cheese. Amazing. I always have a side of dandelion greens, kale or any vegetable. Roasted Saffron chickpeas are spicy and tasty, Whole Foods has it. Also Hippeas cheddar curls are great snack.
I keep ketchup, mustards & bbq sauces in the refrigerator too. Many of my food essentials are similar to “TheChicNatural”. But I also keep spinach, unfiltered honey, onions (purple & sweet), garlic, carrots, cucumbers & frozen/fresh peppers. These items alone are a great meal. But with a few essentials already mentioned plus bbq sauce, mayo & ketchup.....game day roasted veggie sliders, a side salad, french fries & a raspberry seltzer water❗️🥰🥰🥰
I started trying her meals a few years back and I have incorporated so many Vegan meals in my diet! Even if people don’t want to go full Vegan this is a great way to help balance your diet. So happy for these videos!
Agree with all these items with the exception of ketchup and mustard. Agree 100% about the blender. I leave all my opened condiments in the frig. If they haven't been opened, I leave out. I love cold condiments as well. That's what my mom taught me :). Plus the bottle says its better to refrigerate.
I am so happy that you didn’t say shiitake mushrooms to fry because most people say that but I didn’t have a good experience with them so I’ll try the portobello and see how that works for me 😁

Vegan mayo , earth balance and cashews a must have for me too with those you can do anything
Nonvegan here - I have an egg allergy and I love vegan mayo! I agree that Just Mayo tastes best. We also keep cashew milk in the fridge because my youngest is lactose intolerant.
Great video - we aren’t vegan but I keep 23 of these items on hand as staples for my family too!
Kim l tried your kale/mushroom with the seasoning you recommended in one your videos.... l am hooked lol
Same as Crystal Davis. Unopened in the pantry; opened in the fridge. Also I love how you eat so healthy. Also you might want to check out NON-GMO foods.
All of these are staples in my vegan 🌱 kitchen as well,,, thank you so much for sharing. I love all your vegan videos.
I really enjoyed this video. As I'm still learning and finding my way as a vegan, I was glad to know you can use apple sauce as an egg replacer. Thanks for sharing. New subscriber.
I have a baby too :) she’s 5 months and starting solids soon. Can you do a video of what vegan foods baby eats? I’m vegetarian and planning to become vegan soon :-)
Great job dear. Ketchup/mustard in refrigerator...👍👍👍👍 love. Love lentils and black beans!!!!!! I also use the applesauce ro replace all oils ..super healthy
You make me want to go vegan. Awesome video.
Thank you for this, my family have been thinking & talking about doing a vegan day once a week. Thank for for always sharing & inspiring, vegans & non vegans with your delicious foods ideas. I always put my condiments in the fridge!! 💕
Condiments go in the fridge to cool down my hot food hahaha
exactly !!
I basically have everything you’ve mentioned but the other staples are almond flour, sesame oil, tahini paste, lentils (all kinds) and of course the yummy and versatile onion.
I never put ketchup, mustard or mayo in fridge hate cold condiments!!
I have a put mayo in the fridge, I think it would spoil,
Ive never heard of someone leaving mayo out
I don't think veganaise would since there are no eggs in it? But real mayo can definitely make you sick if left out after being opened.
Mayo has eggs so that must be refrigerated. Not sure about the vegan mayo. However, I don’t refrigerate mustard or ketchup.
This was a very resourceful video. Thank you very much I have followed you for several years and you never disappoint. Do you have a recipe for a tuna salad substitute? I love tuna salad but I want to try a vegan version.
Yulonda Fears chickpeas!!! They’re a great substitute for tuna
chickpeas with seaweed sheets… this will give it the fishy flavor. taste divine 😋
Condiments in the fridge, always whether it's Sauces, Ketchup, Mustard, all in the fridge, yum.
I'm not vegan but always enjoy your food videos Kim. I like to try different things, interested to see how the nutritional yeast tastes. I don't like cold ketchup, that stays in the pantry. I don't like mustard but my family eats it, we keep it in the fridge. Love mayo, black beans, olive oil, hummus and I eat mainly pasta, chicken and rice. I love fish and try not eat too much red meat. Love your hair! 😍😍💕
I love this video. I think it's great that these items were not focused most on processed things.Im starting my plant based diet again and this was extremely helpful for me.
I’m so happy I found your page! I am on day one. I went shopping yesterday but I definitely need to go get some condiments! And I love that butter I’ve already been using that kind.
Hello Chic natural I tried the tofu scramble and it was so good. You were right I did like the tofu scramble. I cooked it and added vegetable Mix with it and really enjoyed it. Thank you and please have a blessed day.
You just taught me something with that “Buttermilk” trick! 🙌🏽🙌🏽
Very Helpful video!! I just love you sis!! You seem like such a genuine person. Keep up the great work girl!! 👍🏽👌🏽
Try avocado oil with the veggies......delish. Also I just discovered primal kitchen Avocado mayo. Just mayo is off the market, it was my favorite too.
JUST mayo is back in limited supply and will be returning to full production asap according to VegNews. There will also be a line of other JUST condiments
I put them in the fridge once opened, is convenient plus saves cupboard space which I have little of
I leave all my opened condiments in the frig. If they haven't been opened, I leave out. I love cold condiments as well. That's what my mom taught me :). Plus the bottle says its better to refrigerate.
As a vegan of 4 years... I totally have all of those things (minus Quinoa) in my pantry / fridge! 💁🏽♀️
I am so happy that you didn’t say shiitake mushrooms to fry because most people say that but I didn’t have a good experience with them so I’ll try the portobello and see how that works for me 😁
You can also find an affordable recipe to make your own vegan butter and mayo. There are good ones by Loving It Vegan and Sustainably Vegan. Dollar Tree and Dollar General has a lot of mixes, seasoning, canned foods, foods, nut milk, nuts, treats and snacks that are and can be made vegan. I love going to Dollar Tree and I recently saw some vegan meatballs in one of the stores in my area. Aldi's also has some good vegan options for an affordable price and nice frozen produce that you can microwave.
