The reason why is because without natural predators, old bulls live longer. They then mate with every cow in the herd, causing birth defects due to (technically) incest in later generations. Humans took up the spot of the elephant’s natural predator (since we’re the only ones that can kill it), and have been killing these old bulls to let other younger males have a chance to mate.

In some countries yes...and those are the countries where the poachers wipe out the elephants because, surprise, poachers don't follow laws. It's a little like violent criminals not obeying gun laws. Turns out, criminals by definition don't follow laws so go ahead and pass more laws thinking that will make a difference. It's the lunacy of the left/liberals that has poisoned the world. Instead, regulated hunting represents the only sustainable path forward for elephants. You may not like that some are hunted but the alternative--as we've seen in countries that have banned sport hunting altogether--is annihilation of the herds at the hands of poachers. Wake up!
@@chrisdorsey6287 killing animals for sport seems to me kinda psycho, animals are for food when we need protein, not for having fun killing them. To protect the herd and local human towns. That elephant was killing younger male elephants and was charging at safari vehicles. They had to put it down
Those bullets must've been huge. Probably fired from a Sharps Big 50 rifle !
.375 caliber!
It was a .22 LR. It's a fact that historically those were used to take down Tyrannosaurus Rex during the revolutionary war when the Confederate's used war elephants. Ghandi used a .22 pistol to stop a pack of velociraptors when he was helping George Washington in Vietnam.

Human being are the main cause why so many of our beloved wild life are going to be extinct in a bery short time, so let us help and protect them so that future generations can see them in their natural habitat
just think. Hunters are smart. They dont want to lose animals to hunt . They care allot about these babys not going extinct.
One day in the future the whole world will just have zoos as the human population increases, we all have a carbon footprint on the planet in some way, there's no way around it.
There is an overpopulation of elephants in Botswana, which is where this hunt is taking place. This is most likely either a bull that went into rut and rampaged a town, or was eating crops meant for humans or other animals. Elephants are not even CLOSE to being extinct there.
@@balisticren6155 *dodo flashbacks*
@@balisticren6155 Chinese poaching syndicates do the same thing. They provide employment for the locals and support the local economy. The locals can also eat the remains of the animal, after the poachers remove the parts they need like the ivory. Poachers also do not want the animals to go extinct, because that means no more profit for them. See how identical it is to 'trophy hunting'? It is just semantics with words, by smart rear ends, who try to justify what they do, and make it a 'crime' when someone else does it

Why
That's an old bull elephant. Those male elephants are more of a menace, than good. Old bulls are alpha males - that means they get all the cows in the herd. The problem is that, they no longer have means reproduce unlike younger bulls that they bully to the point of injuring them OR killing them. In order to keep the elephant's population. Hunters kills these old bulls, so the younger ones will have chance to mate. Also, these bulls are a danger to everything. They will charge/attack anything even if it does not bother them (like wilderbeast, buffalos, lions, humans in tribal communities etc.).
Wow
😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
That's fucked up
The reason why is because without natural predators, old bulls live longer. They then mate with every cow in the herd, causing birth defects due to (technically) incest in later generations. Humans took up the spot of the elephant’s natural predator (since we’re the only ones that can kill it), and have been killing these old bulls to let other younger males have a chance to mate.
This is fucked up

What? If anything, animals exist with the sole purpose of serve humans...
I thought killing elephants were illegal
Wake up!

It's kind of messed up because it's not much a challenging hunt. Elephants are smart too, an basically mourn the loss of companions. It'd be a rush or maybe "roll of the dice," if they were hunting with spears. But with shotguns and elephant rifles, they knew that thing was going down once it charged towards them. I mean does anyone even eat the meat or they just taxidermy, and hang the head up. Maybe take or sell the tusks.
