47 grill. 48 had a vertical bar in the centre (except utilities which had the 47 grill). Btw regarding the engine. My dad fired up a 48 fleetmaster which had been sitting in a paddock rusting quietly for years. Drove it home. That engine is now in his good 48. Runs fine. 👍🏻
Ah, I see. Acetone and is great. Better than almost anything. I have it n a little squeeze bottle for most things. Just make sure it's well mixed just prior to application.
mate good to see its all ended up ok if only I lived 14,000 km closer I would do a deal on the convertible never see many convertibles in Australia I think the sun is a tad to hot LOL dunno why you dont get more views and as far as winter projects go there is always plenty of winters coming were you live keep up the great work so did the fleetline ever get finished completely as door knobs and all the trim fitted etc ????
So the deal is that the pieces I had still needed to be straightened, cleaned and polished. The guy who bought it has all the pieces ready to go on. He is a snow bird though (goes to Florida USA during the Canadian winter). I have the winter to put all the finishing touches on the car and he will take delivery in the spring.
Don't want to spin it all the way around because you'll score the rings with rust that's sitting there so you're going to pre-lube it again.... That's not how prelubing works. It's not going to help that at all. Best you can do is dump some lube or pb blaster down the spark plug holes. That's the only way to get anything to the rings unless it's running and flinging oil up. Pretty sure this thing doesn't have oil squirters. Even if it did, that would only be the bottom sides of the rings.
That's what I talk about at 14:44 . Sorry I wasn't clearer about that but when I say "lubed up" I was talking about filling the cylinders with oil. I also had the Acetone/ATF mix in there for over a week. The acetone leaks down past the rings but the ATF will stay on top of the piston but I filled the cylinders with 10w30 anyway
rich u should have put an ls engine and stick shift trans in it !! would have made a better car out of it !! . it still a nine car though and great video !!
Smithville. Its amazing how many you see once they are on your radar. I picked up the 4 door about this time last year, and this convertible will be my 4 fleetmaster I've owned since then... All collected within 20 minutes of my house
Rich, you have a heart of gold...i hope you don't go broke bailing other people out...
It looks like you do a lot of work for Rick and the kids, the fleet Master looks awesome, keep up the great work thanks for sharing it with us!

Would love to see a restoration on the convertible!
I always like the production quality of these video's. Keep up the good work Rich!
And greetings from the Netherlands! :)
Someday we will get some better microphones! Groeten van Canada!
I drove an old 48 and it had the old vacuum shifting bit....it plugged into the caburator....they got rid of that in the 49. :)
How did you convert it from a 6V to a 12V? Can you do a video on how to do that?
like.. commented and facebooked.. .. a huge job... you can only do that with a great shop like yours.
Too far gone on that vert? Sucker was perfect
more videos with Stefan!
I have a feeling the DG crew is going to get bigger....

Hey I'm thinking of buying a Yukon Denali 6.0. What are you thoughts on the reliability of the engine/drivetrain? Thanks
Great engine and cheap parts. Not great on fuel. 4l80E trans? Any idea on the rear end ratio?
Not sure on the rear end, I'm going with either a Yukon Denali or a Suburban/Tahoe z71. Like yours!
Did you sell the convertible?
Come on you can fix it. good winter project
My shop is full of winter projects!

Dude, I think I know where you picked this up from -- Tintern?

Sorry, yes it was Tintern! The town is so small, I forgot the name for a minute.
put a diesel engine big ol cummins
Cummins just announced a 2.8l crate engine just for conversions. We are trying to get a hold of them
+DEBOSS GARAGE I'm drooling!
Make a rat rod out of it
cody powers theyre too rare to butcher like that. Do thst stuff to cars theres plenty of.
