    These settings are exactly how I got started and began filing jars full of coins. This motivated me to keep detecting. It also allowed me to focus on pinpointing and digging my plugs correctly.

    METAL DETECTOR TIPS TRACKER IV - Some tips I've found so far include:
    "Sorry if you included any of these, you've been a massive help with learning thank you."
    1. "Straight metal square shovel". 5-6 inches deep with a foot step. I recently got one and it took away about 70% of kneeling, digging, and searching. I would simply use American Detection's tips for locating, and make a square around the area and pry it up as a whole. Made it easier to put back, as the entire square was still in tact.
    2. "Side bag" was a impressive purchase. 100% recommed to keep findings that are dirty.
    3. "Backpack" I've encountered large fields and a pack was incredibly useful, because I could carry water, food, and tools to not weigh me down casually searching. Also used it as a sweeping marker for straight lines to keep track of how far I could sweep.
    4. "Pinpointer" I got a fairly cheap pinpointer, but it still is very useful once you pick up on it. Frustrating at first with constant beeping. I would not recommend going cheap on one. Very useful if quality's there.
    *Is the safe for metal detectors? Would hate to give false or bad information*
    I
    V
    5. "Headphones" There's actually a couple different options. If you don't have the money for specialty headphones right away, Amazon or whatever electronics store, might have an adapter for 1/4-1/8. Meaning you can convert normal headphone jacks to the bigger jack on the detector. The sound won't be as great and clear, but it will work. I do not know if this harms the detector though. Will take suggestions.

    Great video, Russ! Loved the ending. When I started this last July, digging in the “concrete” soil, I was surprised to find I quickly developed a callus in my digging palm.

    I know you posted this a year ago, but I discovered something interesting. I had a Time Ranger and it had the sniper coil with it as a bonus. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that the frequency and pin-out of the connectors were the same between the Tracker IV and this machine. It works flawlessly on the Tracker IV and allows you to really work the heck out of trashy sites. It's like using a microscope on the thing. You don't get quite as deep, but hey, we're just coin shooting here, and it still gets in about 3 inches into the soil in most cases. By the way, just out of curiosity, where did you get those cargo shorts. I'm always looking for practical outdoor wear.

    Good video! I actually used my tracker 4 for the first time yesterday. It surprised me! Very stable and effective at my local park. I used tone mode with the disc knob tone break set about at the 12o'clock position. It worked pretty well. I did dig some pulltabs thinking they were nickels but I dug far mor coins. Super easy to use and effective detector. I have other more expensive machines but the tracker was perfect for the park and was a blast to use.

      About to start myself, surprise random gift (& pinpointer from my dad whom I don't see often threw that on top of an already brand new, not even broken in very popular sidearm. Needless to say (wanted a metal detector 25+ yrs), I can't wait to see what's on the coast & old fields in the South, with walking distance locations enough to keep me preoccupied for a year. Would love to hear how your journey has gone so far, & if you've found anything neat. I'll be happy to find junk silver at this trajectory, but the beaches there is no telling. After Katrina, me and my grandfather (shrimper all his life), ended up returning quite a few historical artifacts we dredged up from Jefferson Davis's home, now museum. Kept a hull stone though they used on wooded ships. Not even the size of a bowling ball, but Deceitfully heavy! Circular, flattened on the bottom used to distribute weight. God knows where it even came from, or how old it is before ending up in one of his vessels. I imagine they were recycled, being that dense of a rock - could be from an older Spanish Galleon for all we know. Good luck, hope to hear your progress!

    Where I live in Northern AZ, have to use a pick to get down to the targets with my Tricker 4. And up to 6 inches, fairly impressive and my friend uses a Garret detector and they are very close in performance. The bounty Hunter pin pointer and the Garret are equal in depth detection. Very good to compare. $100 verses over $400. The Garret of course is a much more sophisticated detector with many more modes and the screen helps a lot too. Staying with my Bounty Hunter for now.

    Check the dates on the coins, dimes, quarters, half dollars & silver dollars pre 1965 are 90% silver & worth much more than face value and any silver 1965 dimes are rare because they weren't supposed to be minted.

      @garrett3117 Год назад

      WW2 Nickels are also 90% Silver, S mint marked coins are worth checking as well, rare as they are. Junk silver is highly sought after these days. Then consider copper (been a couple mo, but these were rough estimates). Nickel: 11$/lb & 4$/lb Copper. Also on the rare chance it's a foreign coin (got em all the time as a cashier), some people have a 99% silver coin but think it's not even worth the 25c it represents (& pass off thinking they got over. Usually the case.) But find a platinum one, you're going to be one happy camper.

    I was watching a Tesoro Compadre video, and someone commented on what is called “thumbing the discriminator “. It’s a method of turning the knob until the signal disappears. I was thinking of trying this method to mark the faceplate of the tracker IV. Ya know, wave a rusty nail & turn the disc knob until the signal disappears and marking it. What is your opinion of this ?

    • @AmericanDetection
      @AmericanDetection  Год назад

      Hello B- I use to have a Tesoro Silver Saber that I'd do that with. Rather than thumbing the disc I'd use the Tracker IV's toggle switch. Hunt in all-metal and then just flip the switch to disc to check your target. Set your disc to whatever level you want to knock out. From just above iron all the way up to Zinc pennies. Hope this helps and thank you for the great idea!
