I played around with one today for the first time after talking to a guy detecting in the nature preserve area I walk often. He found 4 rings in the water diving, and coins 1780, 1800's and class ring which he returned to the daughter of the deceased owner.
I found an ax head, a live .22 and .270 round, quarter from the 70s i think few pop tabs

So I live on an island with a beach where a-lot if wealthy people frolic on the beach and have talked to a gentleman down here, literally the only one I know who metal detects and has found quite a lot of jewelry which is what I am aiming for as well. I just have the stock coil and I was wondering if you could have any tips in where the best spot on the beach would be best. He’s said he’s found stuff on different locations and distances from the water. I’m about to watch your video on the settings to adjust the detector, any suggestions on what setting is best for finding gold jewelry? He has a forester I believe but I didn’t want to shell out $300 for my first detector. Is the coil waterproof at all on my bounty hunter? Or am I just setting myself up for a disaster and damage the device. Thanks for the informative videos, they really help. I tell you I am so exited to get out there and start looking since there really is nobody down here who participates in the hobby so there should be quite a lot of valuables to find. He only spends a few weeks down here at a time( not his primary residence) but he just found a $10,000 diamond ring and I would love to find something like that. Anyway, sorry for the long comment but any input would be greatly appreciated in terms of setting up my detector to find jewelry on the beach.

Was more or less getting a feel for how it all worked, so 1st find in a wide open field for difficulty, then near an old slab on said field, where I knew I'd have much higher chances of hitting even if junk. About a dozen items in total, 2 pennies but good fun. Thanks for the videos and tips, will be watching! Definitely hitting the beach (Katrina went through here), when weather permits. Cheers.

Saw this because my 9 year old wants one and this model came up in a few articles. Definitely don’t want to spend over $100 that is easy use yet reliable-and hoping to get it even cheaper than that for Black Friday (Month…as has been the trend in retail sadly). $70 or less would be what I would like it for. 😂

Hello Jon- Yes it would be very good for locating nails. Just make sure you are in all-metal mode so you don't accidentally discriminate out iron nails. I'm glad you are finding the information I'm the videos valuable.

Question:
I have the Bounty Hunter Pioneer 101. I See no difference between 101, and the Tracker lV in appearance other than one word on the control display.
In your Opinion, is there Any or only a little difference between the two in how they Perform?

Is there a 12 inch coil for the Bounty Hunter Pioneer 202? Mine is very sensitive but more depth for hunting deep silver would be nice. I bought the Tracker 4 for my nephew and his son to use since they`re beginners and it`s such a great shallow coin machine. I went through my sister`s yard with the 202 and easily located the coins and even found a very old worn Walking Liberty half dollar.
Then I bought a cheap open box deal on a Minelab Vanquish 340 and went back over the yard and was overwhelmed with signals. It seems to pick up every grain of rust, trash, and is especially overwhelmed by rusty iron and never stopped beeping. I didn`t dig any targets yet but some numbers indicated silver. After the weather improves I`ll check. Just got a pinpointer. It`s deep though (13 inches air test on a nickel...probably picks up rusty nails at nearly two feet!) but the Bounty Hunter is superior for a person simply looking for shallower coins or a lost ring in my opinion. I haven`t yet learned how to properly use the Vanquish but I`m confident it will be a great machine for non trashy areas on deep silver or the beach if I ever go again.

@@visamedic It looks like it gets good reviews, so I think it would be fine. Poor quality batteries won't hurt the detector they'll just hurt the performance of the detector and have short battery life.
Any tips on using this on wet sand (saltwater) was told not to even try but I did find a large object (pliers) with the sensitivity way down in all metal (like at 60% or lower to avoid all the false positives)? Thanks.
Hello Harrison- You did exactly what I would do if I were trying to hunt the Tracker IV in wet saltwater sand. Reduce sensitivity and hunt in all metal. When/if you want to upgrade, the Bounty Hunter Time Ranger Pro with its 19 kHz is very stable in the salty sand.

Yes. $199 is the going price for this coil, unless you can find it used somewhere.
H Russ. So I've had the Tracker IV for close to two years. The only real problem I'm having is identifying certain pennies with quarters. There is no way to discriminate between the two regardless of the settings. I have a cheaper metal detector that can discriminate out any type of penny. My other question is it worth it to upgrade to the 10" coil made for Bounty Hunters or would I be better off just purchasing another unit with a larger coil than's larger than 8 inches?
Hello Zaksmith4523- You are correct the Tracker IV, like most First Texas Products detectors will only allow you to discriminate out up to Zinc. This is because they don't want the user to accidently discriminate out good targets. A lot of silver falls in between penny and quarter. But you absolutely can discriminate out modern zinc pennies (1983 and above). S to your other question, I don't see a whole lot of upside to investing in the 10" magnum coil, it will only give you a little more depth. I'd see more value in purchasing a 4" nugget shooter/sniper coil over the 10" coil. That coil is more sensitive to small mid-conductors and very good in trashy high density target areas. Good luck!
Would using expired batteries affect the performance of the detector? They were all I had at the moment when I wanted to go detect an old farmhouse site, and I’ve found plenty of aluminum and nails but absolutely zero good finds, even when using disc mode, the highest sensitivity and the disc dial at 3:00. Some of the trash finds were pretty deep too.

Expired or depleted batteries would have an effect on performance, but not in deciphering the difference between a good and bad target. The type of trashy targets you mentioned are very common in and around old farmhouses. Many times, it will take several return trips to sort of clear out the overpowering trashy targets before the smaller less pronounced good targets become detectable through the trash. Good luck and don't give up on that site.

just started volenteering at our local small town cemetery, they gave me a bounty Hunter Pioneer to find row pins, I was out practicing and I would sweep left get a beep

That is called a non-repeatable signal. Check your discrimination setting as it might be set right at the discrimination threshold of the target you are checking. What are these pins made of?

I own one of these Bounty hunter Tracker IV Metal Detectors. What I've found is the standard coil is useless for fine gold nuggets. I watched your video on the pieces were it located. Can you tell me with the 4" Coil fitted to this

@@AmericanDetection yes but can you tell me is the Tracker IV with the 4” Coil fitted to it, just as good as the Ranger Pro? Because the Tracker IV is useless with the standard coil it comes with for trying to find small gold nuggets. Where as Ranger Pro was very impressive on small gold nuggets.
@@mathewofficer No, the Tracker IV is a 7kHz metal detector. The Time Ranger Pro is a 19kHz metal detector that will be superior for mid conductors like gold nuggets. The 7kHz Tracker IV is better at high conductors like coins and silver.

Hello Enn Mra- Bounty Hunter came out with the 12COIL-BH. This is a very deep very large coil. If you were to have the stock 8" coil, the 12" DD coil 12COIL-BH, and the 4" 4COIL, you would probably have all the coils you would ever need for any circumstance.

I have one that stopped working. It got a little sprinkled on by rain. After that is is dead. I replaced the batteries. It makes the beep when I cut it on but does no longer detect metal. The needle never moves after I turn it on.
Sounds like the coil has an issue. Check the coil connector for debris and or moisture. Reconnect the coil and see if that works. Good luck.

Is this one waterproof and does it do well on wet sand?
The coil is waterproof but not the control box. It can hunt the wet sand with reduced sensitivity but it is not designed to do so.

So I live on an island with a beach where a-lot if wealthy people frolic on the beach and have talked to a gentleman down here, literally the only one I know who metal detects and has found quite a lot of jewelry which is what I am aiming for as well. I just have the stock coil and I was wondering if you could have any tips in where the best spot on the beach would be best. He’s said he’s found stuff on different locations and distances from the water. I’m about to watch your video on the settings to adjust the detector, any suggestions on what setting is best for finding gold jewelry? He has a forester I believe but I didn’t want to shell out $300 for my first detector. Is the coil waterproof at all on my bounty hunter? Or am I just setting myself up for a disaster and damage the device. Thanks for the informative videos, they really help. I tell you I am so exited to get out there and start looking since there really is nobody down here who participates in the hobby so there should be quite a lot of valuables to find. He only spends a few weeks down here at a time( not his primary residence) but he just found a $10,000 diamond ring and I would love to find something like that. Anyway, sorry for the long comment but any input would be greatly appreciated in terms of setting up my detector to find jewelry on the beach.
I would hunt in All Metal mode on the beach. You will dig a lot of trash but it is easy digging, especially if you have a scoop. The reason I suggest all metal is that small gold chains and necklaces often times read up like bobby pins and if you're not digging bobby pins at the beach you won't dig any gold chains and or necklaces. I got a tracker iv off craigslist that was still like brand new for $25.00.....What amazed me more than anything was the recovery speed. I could literally hunt an iron infested cellar hole with one.....just wouldn't get to those 6+ inch targets is the only issue. Awesome machine for the cost.
