True story, I was working at a theater in the Denver (Thornton) area when this movie came out. We had a special midnight showing, the only one in the whole Denver metro area. At the time, no one knew much about the movie other than the previews shown leading up to it. Naturally, on a Friday night, who wants to hang out until 2am for a movie, we had better things to do, but worked we had to. We all figured maybe 20 or 30 people would show up, a crowd hardly worth staying around for. At about 11:00pm, I looked out into the area where people were waiting (the theater was in a shopping mall) and saw about what I expected, 20 or so people. We all went about getting ready to open at 11:30, another worker and I checked the exit doors inside the theater itself to make sure it was closed. We opened the door and there was now a line of people going out of the mall and around the building past the exit doors, and let me tell you, every wannabe gang banger, sidewalk commando, tough guy were waiting to get into the theater. Holy cow, it was nerve wracking to say the least knowing that there could be equal amount of violence in the theater than what was going to be on the screen. The local police department was not notified of the movie time, so they never came around, doubt they even knew the movie was playing. But, despite the film breaking about half way through (it got fixed quicker than I ever seen a film get spliced before) and some guys throwing bottles around now and then, it came off without much trouble at all, thankfully. It ended up being one of the better nights working at the movies. And it was a good movie to watch as well.

I loved this film and soundtrack. I was 12 when this came out and in the Summer holidays we used to buy a thing called the "Red bus rover" I seem to remember it cost 50p. It used to give you free travel on buses and the tube in London for the day. The Tube was our playground and we used to chant "Warriors come out to play-ay" as we were walking down the connecting passageways on the underground and it used to echo beautifly. Great memories..."Can you dig it"
David Patrick Kelly said that “warriors come out and play” was related to him being bullied when he was younger and that he carried that with him for years and this movie and it’s director let him turn that negative energy into something positive and came up with one of the best and well remembered lines in movie history. He went on to say that scene put that bullying incident behind him and it no longer haunted him
It's so relaxing and uplifting to confirm that all the cast members were simply performing, and that most of them are still alive and kicking, just the same as most of us are. Back in the day, I used to think that Deborah was so hot! And she still is! I really hope that Hollywood doesn't get the bright idea to remake this classic! Because it would suck! Warriors! Come out to play!
They filmed this in my neighborhood in Brooklyn. My friends and I stood out on a Friday night and watched them film the scene when the car blew up. That was also only a few blocks from where they shot the climactic ending to the car chase scene in the French Connection years before.
Quick story: About 6 years ago, I was on the subway 4 train line: afternoon travel in my home town (NYC). I was sitting by myself in the two-person corner seat in the train car. Across from me was an older man that looked so familiar to me, but I couldn't wrap my mind around who it was! So, I inconspicuously stared at him without trying to be weird. After about 3 minutes, I think I got it! I went on my phone and typed in IMDB. I was able to match the face with the person that was sitting across from me! It DAVID PATRICK KELLY: Luther the antagonist leader from the Rouges gang in The Warriors! Now, New Yorkers are usually known for NEVER getting starstruck. We see celebrities all the time. However, there are rare times when we do! and this was it for me! He was sitting with a very pretty young lady, perhaps his daughter who looked about 30-35 years of age. kind of resembled him. So, i was kinda nervous but I just wanted to say the famous line: "Warriors, come out and play-ya!" But I didn't say anything ..Anyway, I didn't want to bother him . But I did a side stare at him picturing my favorite scenes with him. However, I left him alone and went back to my private life again. but i was really happy to see someone from one of my favorite movie. Hopefully I'll see and meet another great character from THE WARRIORS. who knows. Anyway, I'll never forget that wonderful quiet experience.
Rest In Peace David Harris aka Cochise. June 18, 1949 - October 25, 2024.

Some of them didn't die of cancer. One of them died of Aids from drowning in vjj, Well it's was cancer. but the other one that could of been avoided if they would of found out about sooner..just like freddy mercury faith.
@@hotpopcorncake Marcellino didn't die of aids, he died of cancer. He had aids which compromised his immune system which led to him getting cancer. So in a way the aids did cause it but it was cancer complications that killed him. Also, pretty sure it wasn't because he was drowning in the VEEJ, rather the butt or needles.
@@MrJaybeezy123 Oh thank for clarifying it. I remember seeing in comment section, People were debating if he die of Cancer or Aids. I wikipedia his information back and forward tons of times, They kept changing his information (like i seen thousands of times). But at first I saw he died of Aids.
One of my favorite films ever. Still is. I remember as a kid literally watching this movie every single day for like a year. I had it memorized. I will never get tired of it.
Can't believe it was thar long ago love this film and the soundtrack
Look at all the people posting on this board for a 40 year old gang movie. That is a testament to how great and meaningful the Warriors is! Can you dig it? CAN YOU DIIIGGGG IT!!!
My Grandfather was a Extra for the Movie He was only 23 but now He is 61 to this day in 2019

I love how the ps2 game had more of a story, and had little story's of how cleon made the warriors. Good video :)
Gave me chills when the slide came to Sanchez. My heart goes out to his family. Sure it was many years ago that he passed but I won’t forget my father who passed away from the devil called cancer February 5, 1993.
I'm sorry about your father.
"You Warriors are good, real good!" The best!
One of my favorite movies of all time 🔥🔥🔥👍👍👍
*"WARRIORSSss, come out to playeeee aaaayye"*
We're all here in this anniversary and nobody...is wasting ...nobody. That is a miracle!
Good one.
Yep, miracles did not last long...the villain always mess it up!
"And miracles is the way things ought to be".
I think I speak for a lot of people that seen this film in the late 70s or early 80s......... warriors is an absolutely massive part of my childhood..... love love this film ❤️❤️
Makes you think how fast time has gone by !
Agree
Some of the gangs were so silly, but that's part of what made this movie great.
Hehe,..but in 78-79 there was some silly gangs around..me,.. we saw some,..which freaked us,..really!!
Nostalgia. Nostalgia at its finest
Man the soundtrack is so nostalgic and then with some of them dying so long ago just hits harder
Great movie. I still have it on cassette
My brother has it on DVD
I love this movie and the game in 2005. I grew up with this stuff and cherish it as something apart of me.
Also, rest in peace to Rembrandt. He was my favorite warrior member from both movie and game. Shame we lost him to cancer...
Rest in peace, our dear writer
My favorite movie still to this day
I love that Walter Hill quote at the end. It just fills my heart. Yes Walter, we still love it and we love that you made it.
One of the greatest movies ever made, period.
That was fantastic to hear about those actors. Condolences to the families and friends of the individuals who passed away!!! I was born and raised in NY in the 60s and 70s spent a lot of time at Coney Island, and on the subways. It was a very impactful movie for me. Thanks to everyone that made it happen!!
a,classic Michael beck still looks,good
@@donnamiller5222 Yes, For the most part, they all maintained themselves pretty well. Maybe diet, exercise, positive thinking, and probably some touching up of the photos...
The warriors is a classic movie also in Brazil. I watched it for the first time in 1987 and I always remember it.
This movie is amazing and the game by rockstar is even more awesome....rip Marcelino Sanchez 😔
Video games, lol.
Great fun game
I loved this film and soundtrack. I was 12 when this came out and in the Summer holidays we used to buy a thing called the "Red bus rover" I seem to remember it cost 50p. It used to give you free travel on buses and the tube in London for the day. The Tube was our playground and we used to chant "Warriors come out to play-ay" as we were walking down the connecting passageways on the underground and it used to echo beautifly. Great memories..."Can you dig it"
SHIT! THE CHICKS ARE PACKED! THE CHICKS ARE PACKED!
David Patrick Kelly said that “warriors come out and play” was related to him being bullied when he was younger and that he carried that with him for years and this movie and it’s director let him turn that negative energy into something positive and came up with one of the best and well remembered lines in movie history.
He went on to say that scene put that bullying incident behind him and it no longer haunted him
AMEN
amen +2!!!
P Hoffa that’s awesome. I did not know that. Thank you for sharing.
take off ya colors and you can walk thru @@patrickverona3098
It's so relaxing and uplifting to confirm that all the cast members were simply performing, and that most of them are still alive and kicking, just the same as most of us are.
Back in the day, I used to think that Deborah was so hot!
And she still is!
I really hope that Hollywood doesn't get the bright idea to remake this classic! Because it would suck!
Warriors!
Come out to play!
When I was young, I saw it more than 30 times !!!!!!
Classic!.... They don't make movies like this anymore, this movie is a part of alot of people's lives!!
Think Marcelino Sanchez was among the first fatalities from AIDS, not cancer.
People with AIDS are more susceptible to certain diseases because their immune systems are compromised. In Marcelino's case, this resulted in cancer.
They filmed this in my neighborhood in Brooklyn. My friends and I stood out on a Friday night and watched them film the scene when the car blew up. That was also only a few blocks from where they shot the climactic ending to the car chase scene in the French Connection years before.
One of the great films, I have now passed it in too my son's generation.
Steven Robertson Irie !!!
That's cool.
That’s so cool
I was born in 2001 but I seen this movie like a thousand times & loved it, still one of my favs ❤️. So sad that some of them died 🥺
Watched it when it first came out. Still one of my favourite movies.
Anybody who doesn't have a Warriors movie as part of their collection, are not Warriors themselves.
