Because Bernie was Elton's muse. Elton was able to write the music and melodies he wrote because of Bernie's lyrics. If you notice, once Bernie left, Elton started buying songs from the market. Yes he wrote the music for AIDA and Lion King, but he never wrote a hit song with someone after Bernie. Bernie was his muse, and he knew it.

@@minty1543 I am working on one called The Life And Times Of Elton John and it's going to be a word for word reenactment of Elton along with a scene by scene reenactment or a blow by blow account that is totally unlike Rocket Man. It is going to be a very serious superaccurate docudrama covering the years 1947-1978 when Elton made the best music. And starring Julian Casablancas as Elton and Sam Forrest as Bernie Taupin.

Bohemian Rhapsody was PG13 so it was ridiculously muted. They could go more raw with an R Rating in Rocketman and it definitely makes a difference

That’s cuz Brian May (Queen guitarist and Executive Producer of BR) wanted something that a family can enjoy while Elton John wanted an R-rating, simply because his life is R-rated. Nothing wrong with either, in my opinion.
