      Yes, it works really well with him, and everything else going on. Also, Taron may not be a classically trained dancer. A trained dancer could instantly be able to shift their weight and center of gravity constantly with ease. Taron is just SO talented a performer, that he, while not dancing, totally enhances the number Anyway!! An Example of what I mean: Chicago 's last number, "Hot Honey Rag."
      Renee' Zellweger did a heck of a job, but Catherine Zeta-Jones was a professional dancer. When you watch them dance together, watch Catherine's shoulders and Sternum - she's totally in control. And the artistry of her arms, they're so fluid.......sigh.

    Easily my favorite scene in the entire film, what an amazing sequence. I’m not sure if this was intended by the choreographer/director, but I love 1:40 how a girl is leading him by the hand to follow, and then is cut off by a guy dancing at him, almost alluringly? Then again at 1:53, they make deep eye contact and Elton looks away almost giddy, a little nervous. A subtle nod to his sexuality later in the film. I think that subtlety is brilliant.

    • @onastick2411
      @onastick2411 3 года назад +32

      Yes, and the fact he leaves the pub a confident, cocky boy, but appears through the fence, a slightly gawky teenager/young man.
      The look of amazement on his face, and the way he mixes but doesn't mix, with the dancers. His awkward dancing style, and out of step rhythm, perhaps showing that he's an atypical member of the working class, not quite fitting in, just looking in fascination from the outside, never quite there. Itself a subtle hint at his homoerotic nature, still in its infancy, maybe?

      @@kaiulanisnyderisbored3988 what people like about Bohemian Rhapsody is the *idea*
      It cleans up the Queen story, reduces Freddie to "sassy, gay, and sad," makes him look like the only wild one, muddies up the timeline for no story reason, focuses too much in Freddie for supposedly being a QUEEN movie, has boring as hell editing, and is a complete rushed mess. The actors are the only good part honestly. Everything else from just a film writer, director, producer, AND editor's point of view is just highly disappointing. We shouldn't have to accept what we got because it could have been far better than it was, and a majority of it is because of Brian and Roger's poorer decisions

      @@kaiulanisnyderisbored3988 Just because it's a completely different movie doesn't make it better. Rocketman was exactly what Bohemian Rhapsody should be, if they don't wanna make it like a musical fantasy that's fine but they did a massive mistake sanitising the actual story that was told in the movie. It played it way too safe, whereas Rocketman was brutally honest and that's what I wanted since Elton and Freddie had a extremely dark life off stage that's not too different

From the Rockers, Teddy Boys and Teddy Girls, to the rude-boys and rude-girls, this scene shined the light on all of them. They even included the British Indians who mesmerized the audience with their dance. This scene was incredible!

    This entire film is a masterpiece. I enjoyed Bohemian Rhapsody but Rocketman had me hooked for the entirety of the film.
    I love that Taron Egerton evokes Elton’s singing without being an exact copy. I like that they didn’t make Elton out to be a complete angel and they did explore his drug use and anger problems. Elton shedding his costume bit by it during therapy was such a good visual metaphor as well.
    A true masterpiece I know I will revisit for years to come. This movie is as timeless as the great man himself.

    It was criminal that Taron didn't receive at least an Oscar nomination as Elton John. Especially when you consider that he received nominations from BAFTA and SAG and won a Golden Globe, as well as a Satellite. He nails Elton's phrasing on the songs, sings them beautifully and perfectly, and also Elton's performance facial expressions, his walk and his run, and all along he's convincingly dramatic and authentically comedic
