‘Little boy in the grass’ a song from her ‘Running with the Wolves’ EP, which is about the ghosts of the victims of the sickening real-life mass murder of children on Norway’s Utøya island in 2011, in which she reputedly lost a close friend. It is quite simply one of the most poignant songs ever written. It is difficult enough to listen to without tears, and it is tempting to wonder how many takes were needed before she was able to record the vocal part without breaking down. I CANT STOP CRYING
@@samuelepollichemi She lost her boyfriend in this massacre, I don't think she has said that in any english interviews, but said this in a radio interview and in an interview in a newspaper. This song deals with the Utøya massacre in 2011, where her friend was killed at the age of 17. Aurora was 15 at this time. "Today is the day. 22nd of July. It's been 4 years since you left us. Since all of you left us. How time flies, we even find ourselves forgetting for a moment, nearly moving on .. Not because we forget you, but because we remember to live. But know that I will always remember you, and everyone that went down with you. I will think of love, and send love to those who needs it this today. I hope no one crying alone. Rest in peace my friend. You are free now. " - AURORA
I just listened to Rotten Mangos coverage on this case. I came here right after. I’ve been listening to Aurora for a while but I never knew about this horrible tragedy or that she was connected to someone who lost their life in it
I don't think the way she moves her hands is a gimmick. In some of her performances it looks like she's trying to restrain herself from moving her hands so much. I think it's just natural for her to do it. I saw her commenting on it once. She said she found it weird herself and that she didn't know why she did it.
+tmr I see the music going through her whole body which runs through her hands like sound waves. It's truly beautiful to see how much heart and soul goes into her music. I guess it's like dancers who dance the emotion the music tells them.
Finally, I realise the deeper meaning of that final line: 'finally I am...' It sounds like she's singing half of the chorus line, which goes 'finally I am over it all'. But it's not. At least, to me it's not. To me, she is saying 'I am over the grief, over the pain, I've gotten through it, and now I feel alive again. I exist rather than just survive. Finally, I am.' I wonder at the evolving beauty of Aurora's songs. Perhaps I'll find songs by other artists that also have this ability to unfold and evolve over the years as I do. But, for now, it is a thing I only experience with Aurora's songs. It is a wonderful thing. Very wonderful. And that still does not cover it. Words cannot capture all, I guess.
I literally haven't seen an artist like her in 30 yrs, I don't expect I'll find another before I die. Interesting note, Aurora had a crush on a guy when she was 15, she said it was kind of her boyfriend although she was very young. The young man was one of the victims of the tradegy that inspired this song. I've been watching this video for 2 yrs and it's still heartwrenching.
Well, I must comment on this one. I dont' know if you see this, guys, but you are one of a kind. It's rare to see such perfection. And let's not forget about the crew who made it possible, technically and otherwise. Thanks Mahagony Sessions.

I saw her perform this last night and it was like a sharp breeze through meadow. She cannot be touched. She sings and leaves us and is in the place she is singing about. She is a channel for her own words. The words coming through her. When she finishes a song she wakes up with the dazed expression of a dream. She is akin to the other great Norwegian ladies of song and I for one am resolutely on their team. There has been nothing of this to compare to for years and years. She is honest. True. And precious. Do not be fooled into thinking otherwise.
Really interesting you said that because In an interview she did say that, when she is on stage, she felt like a tunnel delivering the messages from above to the audience, “like a tool”.
She is perfect in pitch. Even more: she is completely free between one perfect pitch and the other... She moves divinely through the tonal spaces, never tied to a fixed sound, never tied to a fixed emotion. Good folks, today a rare, rare, rare gem! Callas abandoned her incarnation time ago. Let's enjoy the fact that we are in a contemporary existence with Aurora!
I disagree that she's perfect in pitch. She has lots of flaws and imperfections in her voice when she performs acoustically or live, even in these recorded videos. If you listen, you can hear her voice cracking and fluctuating quite a bit, especially on the higher notes. However, that's what I love about her: she doesn't try to avoid these imperfections, but instead makes them part of the motion of the music. The polished versions that are released in albums are to be expected, because that's how music production works, but I find it so refreshing to hear her make slight alterations to the songs every time she performs them, even if her voice breaks or she's a bit off-pitch, rather than repeating the songs the exact way she recorded them every single time.
She is definitely not perfect in pitch on this recording of this song. Her voice is cracking and wobbling. It makes the song even sadder, because it's clear she's trying not to cry. But yes, generally she sings perfectly in pitch with excellent slides between notes and occasional vibrato when needed to add power or fragility. Just not in this recording.
I'm also watching this today on the 10 year commemoration day. I wish Aurora would perform this today at the ceremonies in Norway, and "Why did you have to go?" would also be appropriate.
When I sing and basically lose myself in song, my hands and face do all these weird movements. It's like my hands are guiding the variations of my voice. But when I'm in public, I stop myself from doing so, or at least I try. It's very saddening because it stops me from being one with the music. Aurora clearly doesn't care, she lives in the music, she is the music. It's truly inspirational.
I'm saddened that the world discusses so much, mostly chicks about fake people. I hate fake to, but at this point we r all playing Jumanji on the big screen together. We gotta level up, rise above, but not boast, share tip and ask questions instead of spy! ✊🏻
I really feel like that trail off the last lyric, only saying "finally, I am.." and then the fade off, shows that she is not over it, that maybe you can tell yourself you are after having dealt with grief, but it comes back, and it's never really possible to just be "over it all". But when I sing this song, it kind of had a different meaning for me when I first heard it, and I sing it as a song of relief, that I did get past a negative period of my life and I am over it, and I am stronger for it. Damn, her music is good.
Yup her Poppin eye that can't look at u tell u that, but u gotta do what u gotta do to "keep on movin".🤘🏻The shooting at the camp and the bomb... I'm in shock only cuz it connects to my PTSD from a junkie ex bf babbling nonsense or not (idk) most of the time for 3 year. I have a keychain from his street adventures that has ways disturbed me. It's a gold, metal circle the size of a half dollar with 7 22 1933 S punched into it. Is that a natz related date? 😞✌🏻
@@mammastenhjerte I kinda say that about life. Why can't people just be?! Stop with the labels!(except the super bad, killer, pedder type) Being born with social and general anxiety "being" at the right "tempo" and groove is very important! "Give yourself to the harmony!" Good music, atmosphere, and the Martin series on my DVR keep me calm and laughing.
It's an entire lifestyle. Hollywood might think she's a Brand to mold😵 She who she is or needs to be. "Sinking like a stone" and in Awakening talking about "water not leaving her body". I wondered if survivers could not longer put up with something and drowned/killed themselves. I think Norway's news clips/whatever I saw on here seems way more up close and personal with no blurs than we would have been in the states. Warning: Graphic content: 2011 Bodies were all around the perimeter of this little island, face down w/head covered with cloths. What also is trippin me out is that he was dressed as a cop and luered teens towards his loaded guns! 😭😭🤧😤🗡️🛡️And bombed a building to distract and infiltrate a youth camp for future politicians!!
That's a really interesting interpretation. I just commented on this video the other day saying that I see it as a twist on words. It sounds like she's referring to the chorus lyric 'finally I am over it all' but she could actually be saying: 'Finally I am' as in 'finally, I exist rather than just survive. I'm truly living now.' Then again, she sings it with such poignancy your interpretation may be more accurate? If some interpretations can be more accurate than others.. It's really beautiful how there could be so many meanings to a single ending lyric. I'm glad you're past that negative part of your life. I love singing this song too, then Forgotten Love, as I feel in the lyrical content they're linked. But Forgotten Love is like the beautiful butterfly after the metamorphosis, bursting with colours, joy and hope for life again. It's fabulous to dance to it as well, clumsiness and all 😆
We filmed this at a festival, and just behind was a main stage but inbetween acts - so we had 15 mins to get on the boat into the middle - and have the crew in other boat.. anyway; as the final chord was played the main stage erupted in sound. We were so lucky! 😅
@@MahoganySessions its incredible how the audio could be so good on an open place like this 👌 i love the imperfections of her voice in live, better and put so much more sensibility 🔥
One of the beautiful songs written in the history. Very nostalgic, remembering when I was a kid listening to this song without realizing the meaning behind it. I miss this💗
After discovering Aurora about 10 months back (I'd heard of Aurora before then, but never got around to listening to her), this has to be perhaps my favourite performance, and there is plenty of competition for that, from an artist who excels at live performances. She must be one of the best live artists ever. Fantastic guitar and backing vocals from O.Martin. And a big thanks for such a wonderful job of recording this, which was perfection for this type of performance. Just a brilliant combination, and should go down in a musical hall of fame, as one of the great live performances and recordings of it. The perfect combination of raw authenticity, performance, recording and production.
Aurora's music is beautiful and powerful to listen to just as audios, but having the visuals like this, seeing her perform the song, is another level again. She is absolutely mesmerising. She becomes possessed by the song and totally one with it, in mind body and spirit. She is so expressive in her face and body it's like another means of laying her soul bare. It's a privilege to be able to watch.

I can't remember ever being affected by an artist a much as Aurora has moved me. Every repeated listening, every new found gem that I hear for the first time, she never fails to stir my emotions. Both joyous and sad. Listening to her music is a relief, a release. Can't ask for any more from an singer/songwriter/performer. I get the feeling meeting her would be a transcendental experience.
I have noticed that some of the artists that look really weird preforming are the best. They know what expressions they need to make, what movements they need to make to evoke the emotions in themselves they are trying to convey.
+Mahogany Sessions :)) I love every single rendition on your channel. Especially cherry wine, Budapest, elijah and I found. Thank you for making these possible
I love how expressive she is when she sings. You can see how emotionally involved she is with her singing and the song itself. Also, this is my absolute favorite scenery of all the Mahogany Sessions. It's as beautiful as this song and Aurora's voice!
She's some type of indigo child with an indigo aura. She's just beautiful..The harmonies they make together are effortless. Just found these two today and keep clicking song after song..
This song helped with my drug addiction. 3 years clean now and the “finally I am over it all” really hits me hard to think I was listening to this song 3 years ago and thinking “when will my healing come?” And now it HAS finally come. Thank you Aurora ❤️❤️
I love to return to this performance. So unique. I probably like it even a little more than so great Nidarosdomen performance of this song. So beautiful, emotional and sad in the same time.
This almost brought me to tears. I don't know if it is her pure realism and vulnerability or the words of the song and the setting. Or all of the above. But wow. Beautiful artist. Beautiful setting and MS did an amazing job.
Aurora is a raconteur, she has a unique way of spinning enchanting or otherwise deep, emotion warranting images with her music. I really admire her skill.

@@vidarmedl I agree u missed the point or I did not explain it well ., was trying to say the quality of her voice between live performances and studio I can not tell the difference, not actual song variations. :)
What I love about AURORAs music is the meanings. I know what this song is about but bit can be interpreted in so many different ways by so many different people. In fact, while I know what the song is about, to me I relate to it because I had a very bitter and sad face and finally I’m telling my story to other people going through bitter and sad phases and “finally I am over it all” and was able to forgive the people I was bitter towards

Let them run from the violence
The world is way too cold and bright for their eyes
Little boy runs beside them
As they take his hands and jump to the sky
Still today you hear them
Finally I am over it, over it oh
Finally I am over, over it oh
When will my healing come? when will my healing come along?
Sinking like a stone, when will my healing come along?

I interpret it to be the dead finally letting go, finally being beyond life, finally existing somewhere else, just being - finally , I am.
It's fabulous to dance to it as well, clumsiness and all 😆
Listening to her voice is like feeling she is saying "don't worry, I got you" and then she hug me. Thank you, Aurora.
Her voice has matured wonderfully...
2:47 KILLING ME WITH THAT NOTE JESUS CHRAST
I literally only listen to aurora now. No one else. She’s just the most magical beautiful being and her voice and message are amazing
This lady has a wonderful voice. It's so light but the tone is perfect, like an angel!
Here in 2024 completely gobsmacked by this song, & it’s tragic meaning. What a beautiful tribute.
Surely for me one of her best song, all of her sensibility and emotions are inside this interpretation as minimalist as it can be so powerful.
@@resideur J'ai l'impression de lire, dans ce commentaire, ce que j'aurais du moi-même écrire depuis très très longtemps!
@@MahoganySessions i had a request for this one, i want to create somethin personal and wanted to ask you about it! here or in MP? thx a lot
So true
Aurora is a gift to the world, lets us take care of her. Specially now when the world is scared!
Watch her cover across the universe. At the end she says she's gonna save her world 😱🤘🏻 check it out. We gotta help her save the world in order to preserve her, right?
@@billyjoel5484 I´m sorry to ask, are you the real Billy Joel?
@@ispbrotherwolf no lol I guess it's my alias Google account. I was lock out of my real named account for a month a couple years ago. I'm B, a lady from Missouri.
@@billyjoel5484 Then I give you my hand and say Hi from Sweden :-)
@@ispbrotherwolf 🤝Hello from the State of Misery, USA. I'm part Swedish&German on my dad's side.
OMG!!! i don't know why but my eyes tear up at the first time she sang.
She sings with her soul. She feels each word and chord. She allow de music transporting her to other place. It's such beautiful.
We remember you, sweet and innocent children that died for no reason❤️😪
Paulina Kania 🙏🏻♥️🦋✨
this is so underrated :(
+Cara AJL As long as you love it Cara, that's all that matter. x
+Mahogany Sessions :))
I love every single rendition on your channel. Especially cherry wine, Budapest, elijah and I found. Thank you for making these possible
we have quite the simular music taste... dan croll has some brilliant ones aswell
I love how expressive she is when she sings. You can see how emotionally involved she is with her singing and the song itself. Also, this is my absolute favorite scenery of all the Mahogany Sessions. It's as beautiful as this song and Aurora's voice!
Her voice.. never ever fails to move something deep in me ...
I'm so glad you were able to do something with AURORA. Mahogany Sessions and AURORA, talk about a match made in heaven.
Her voice and everything about her is so pure... just magic.
God... she has a magic voice and she is so beautiful... She Is perfect.
She lives her music. Incredible.
She's some type of indigo child with an indigo aura. She's just beautiful..The harmonies they make together are effortless. Just found these two today and keep clicking song after song..
her eyes can share the story and vision.
this video is a piece of art, the song, the performance, the setting, the way it was captured. Art.
5 years after first hearing this, I'm still back for more.
Absolutely breathtaking
Heavenly .. those movements, she was feeling her voice, the lyrics .. she was telling a real story ..
When I hear & see this soft person I must cry. She reminds me of my true self and a light in me.
This environment fits her music and aesthetic so well
listening to Aurora is one of the best things you can do tbh
I don't know where she goes when she sings... but I definetely wanna be there...
This song helped with my drug addiction. 3 years clean now and the “finally I am over it all” really hits me hard to think I was listening to this song 3 years ago and thinking “when will my healing come?” And now it HAS finally come. Thank you Aurora ❤️❤️
she is pure art in movement
I love to return to this performance. So unique. I probably like it even a little more than so great Nidarosdomen performance of this song. So beautiful, emotional and sad in the same time.
This almost brought me to tears. I don't know if it is her pure realism and vulnerability or the words of the song and the setting. Or all of the above. But wow. Beautiful artist. Beautiful setting and MS did an amazing job.
Almost? C'mon, admit it. No matter how many times I've listened to it I get at least one tear.
finding this about the norway attacks, have made me tear up
10 years today🌹🙏🦋🥀
AURORA
this girl is incredible yes, she turns the most simply melody into a soundexplosion.
why do i cry everytime i hear it
Aurora is a raconteur, she has a unique way of spinning enchanting or otherwise deep, emotion warranting images with her music. I really admire her skill.
I will tell you the story about the little boy I found in the grass
Tired, solace, he told me he could hear the children wanting to pass
Sounds of laughters in the air
Still today we hear them
Finally we are over it, oh
Finally we are over it
(Let them run)
Let them run from the violence
The world is way too cold and bright for their eyes
Little boy runs beside them
As they take his hands and jump to the sky
Still today you hear them
Finally I am over it, over it oh
Finally I am over, over it oh
When will my healing come? when will my healing come along?
Sinking like a stone, when will my healing come along?
Finally I am over it, oh
Finally I am over it, oh
Finally I am, am...
ok i have listend to live and recorded versions of most her songs .....im in awww there is no difference, so i figured it out ....Aurora is an angel no other explanation.
But she constantly makes new interpretions of her songs, take The Seed or Murder Song, she has made a lot of different versions now. Which shows how great she is as an artist.
Allegory. I think I first looked that word up cuz Nathanael Ross Ells from the human abstract. One of the best yet short-lived metal bands ever! I'm trying to get him into Aurora. He started studying opera, did metal, now I think he's trying all the other stuff. In my experience guys don't always want to take a girl's advice. Let find an Aurora way to remove big egos. ✌🏻#BringBackBenzos
She's not from this planet, absolutely amazing
among the best songs ever written in the history of music. crazy to think I used to blow this song off when it came up on the Mahogany playlist.
I really love these early songs from Aurora. Such talent!
She isn't just an amazing and beautiful singer, she IS the music she sings.
I'm one of Aurora's warrior. And I love her sooooo much ♥
Oh my gosh goosebumps coming up... Tbh she's really on fire, a true singer who has a pure soul that's what I think of her. Why in the world would anyone dislike her videos I JUST DON'T GET IT.
Some people can't deal with the truly beautiful. It is so foreign to them
Such a strong and soothing voice.
we love her

I thought I've heard of all auroras songs the emotional I was wrong very special artist the put emotion and pain ability to transfer to us
This is so madly beautiful, I could just dive into this forever
I'm here! Illinois, USA. 2024. My son- in- law got me into Aurora. This song is stunning.
How is the sound so good in this? I mean how is that possible? It sounds like its indoors
Mahogany must have some amazing sound engineers. I would also check out Aurora singing for Emergent Sounds, that was recorded beautifully for being outside as well.

Yeahhh, thanks i've been listening to her emergent sounds recordings everyday for the last week lol :D sooo good.
Scarlet Peoni she has a small mic clipped to her collar
because it is indoors, they recorded it and then made a video
Magda Draganova they don't say that though, all of their sessions are suppose to be live?
Her voice is the most amazing thing I've ever heard.
I really hope she never changes. I've listened to her every day for months now, I don't even know what type of music this is I just find her voice so addictive. Need to see a live show
Update, seen her twice now, if you get the chance, GO
Ohhh god she's such a beautiful singer ❤️❤️ I'm so so so relaxed right now
As sad as her songs tend to be, I always feel like I am in a better place when I listen to her sing.
Seriously, I LOOOOVE SOO MUTCH AURORA IN LIVES
this is perfect in some many levels
Wow!!!!! So impressed!! What an amazing talent she is and what a trip of a song! Really serious stuff here Aurora.. thanks for sharing ! ♥️
Stunning performance. Her voice is like clear water I am awed. WOW!!!
once again Mahogany is responsible for introducing me to truly magical music. This lady takes my breath away, a true musical genius and inspiration for all other musicians who don't necessarily fit with the fickle and shallow expectations the huge range of manufactured music has encouraged. Looking forward to seeing a lot more of this
AURORA UGH MY QUEEN I LOVE HER SO MUCH OH MY GOSH
Different, delicate but heavy. And the guitarist knows how to adapt. Thank you for such a moment.
love to see the small differences of the early stages
this is the perfect place for her to sing
I cry everytime i sing this song
This is so great!! yessssssss . I'm a fan of Aurora for months and I'm so damn happy you brought her to do a session!!
She has one of the most beautiful and aching sounds I've ever heard in my life. She is truly one of kind and her voice just makes me cry. Thank you Mahogany, you're the best
this is the first time I saw and heard Aurora, six years ago... She is so special!
You can't die if you never listen her high, is sooo beatiful!
Aurora is manifestation of Love
