I have seen him sing this song live in concert about 8 times now. It's stunning....always a standing ovation! Best male vocalist in the world today in my opinion.
What I love about David is what ever he sings....he paints a beautiful picture with his emotion and you can actually see what he is singing.....especially in his rendition of Oh Holy Night...its like you are actually there witnessing the events
Did you see that smile on David's face. He knew he crushed it😃 And can you imagine the emotions he was feeling when all those people went wild and gave him that standind ovation. Only singer I like better is Elvis. But even Elvis would have stood up in ovation for this man.
I've heard him sing this song in person 7 times and I have the same reaction every time...it never gets old! I saw Pavarotti sing it at his concert years ago and he doesn't come close to how David can project the emotions of this song to make us feel something!
Hopefully it's "Water" with Maggie Beth, "Agnes Dei" is beautiful too, but "Water" will blow you away, and it was recorded in his BARN! Every year we go to David's house for Labor Day Barn Bash. He converted his dairy Barn into a concert hall. We were attending for years with no air conditioning in 100° heat, and massive rain storms, with the roof leaking in the early years. He sounds just as incredible in his Barn as he does anywhere else, in fact he's more comfortable in his Barn because he's at home. He does a concert on Saturday and Sunday night, and both are always amazing.
@@chrisk7652 we agree! We dreamed about being able to do it for years, we consider ourselves fortunate for sure. It's become more of a family reunion every year.
you all probably dont give a shit but does anybody know a method to get back into an Instagram account? I was stupid lost the login password. I would love any assistance you can give me!
@Quinton Alberto thanks for your reply. I found the site thru google and im trying it out now. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
David approached Bill Gaither about performing this song at their concert. Bill's reaction was as expected -- "You're crazy"...haha! Their next concert was in Texas, so Bill figured if that audience liked it, then he would add it to the lineup. The rest is history as you see. David got a lot of criticism because of how he sang this aria. He softened some of the vowels allowing a bit of his native accent to show through. He told Bill he wanted to leave some of the cookies on a lower shelf so everyone could enjoy them. I wish I could find that interview as my recall is probably just a tad off...haha! Maybe someone will remember it and clarify. I love that you are showcasing him and appreciate him as we do. You really don't need to react to anyone else from now on :*)
I got to hear him sing this live. Gave me chills & tears & I also had to stand up. It’s so memorial for me as well because my mom had been diagnosed with dementia & had really loved to go watch the Gaither Vocal Group sing so this was the last concert we were able to take my mom to. She died 10 months later.
He sang this at the barn bash. One listener said " Where else would you hear Nessun Dorma sung by the greatest tenor in the world in a flannel shirt."! Also sung were "He's Alive", " He's still my child", and "Moonlight"! It was a tremendous blessing!
I just gave a thumbs down, and I explained why in my comment above. In the grand scheme of things, of all of the great performances of this song, David's is not up there. That does not in any way reflect poorly on David Phelps, he is still one of the best male vocalist of the day, I just don't think he needs to dip his toe into opera. ruclips.net/video/Kg3aiEiK_PU/видео.html
Thank you, so much, for showcasing another one from David--I absolutely adore how GENUINE you are in your reactions to him. I was here, in Orlando, FL, the very first time he officially sang this classical aria, back about a decade ago where--no word of a lie--he actually STUNNED the audience into silence for the initial 5 seconds after the last note, until the huge arena simply exploded in wild cheers, whistles, clapping and foot stomping. You've got to understand just how extra courageous a choice this was for him, as most of his fan base was southern gospel at the time...not exactly the first group of people you'd think about when the classical genre comes up. Please consider reacting to this performance of "Just As I Am" from his first solo DVD, about 15 years ago. As you now know, his usual style is building...building...building...until he apparently hits a top note and people say, "Wow!!" And then he often jumps an entire octave, and that's when people go, "WHOA!!!!!" This is my favorite "WHOA!!!!!" moment at the top of my favorite slide of all time. I know--I was there for this performance also! ruclips.net/video/WcKeYCezzo0/видео.html
That whole special was awesome. If you like tight harmonies, check out the issacs from this same special. Also, jason crabs performance here is great too!
Since you’ve been reacting to David Phelps, something you may not know. He’s actually an extremely funny guy! Like stand-up comic caliber. Lol Try listening to some vids of when he talks to the audience.
I would suggest It Is Well With My Soul, Guy Penrod starts it out and David Phelps brings it home, with all of Gaither Vocal Band singing backup. ruclips.net/video/0nJ6wQpLmuo/видео.html
Give his rendition of "Unchained Melody" a listen and also his "You:ll Never Walk Alone." 'I can;t wait to watch your reaction to both. Sending love to you from a huge fan of yours.
Thank you so much for reacting to this! I LOVE your reaction videos because you seem to really love the music. David is my favorite singer of all time and anything you react to of his would be amazing. His friends from the Gaither Vocal Band affectionately call him "the robot" because he is flawless in performance! For my next recommendation, I'm going with Gaither Vocal Band: ruclips.net/video/H3bZ5KgK3gE/видео.html Night Before Easter. HUGE fan of the harmonies!
Lyle, I’ve heard him sing this twice in the past year and, for real, it was sung even better than this performance! I could have just screamed it was so phenomenal.
Ok, I'm late to the party with this, but, btw, love your reactions of David Phelps. He is truly a gifted singer. I don't know if this song is on RUclips, but check out his solo "Virtuoso" (that's the name of the song). I'm old and don't always know how to link and don't even know if it's on RUclips. For a while he left Gaither and tried to launch a solo career. This song is from a CD i have.
Here's your link Darlene - David is phenomenal and so is his performance of Virtuoso, it's on his Legacy of Love DVD! ruclips.net/video/NbRxEWGyHWM/видео.html
David has been compared to the best of the operetic world and has be put at the top of the great tenors. He could have had a great career at the Met, but followed his heart into faith based music even though his mentors at Baylor wanted him to follow the opera career, glad he followed his heart.
React to I Want To Know What Love Is. Look it up on youtube. He only has the one live version of this song. Just type in the song by David on youtube. Thanks.
In Finland we have this male metal vocalist who is at least as good or maybe even better: Jarkko Ahola: Nessun Dorma ( Olavinlinna ) ruclips.net/video/rMdLEAqawSA/видео.html
I love everything he does! You would enjoy this same song by 10 year old Jackie Evancho as a guest on Britain's Got Talent. ruclips.net/video/2vvxe4XbzcI/видео.html. Reaction would be fun to see! After that you can react your way through her 3 PBS concerts worth of videos. Be prepared to commit a few hours, you won't want to quit!
I think you couldnt realy put that in the same boat with pavarotti because he just sings it totaly different. I like Pavarottis better... In my Opiniton hes more powerful idk
I don't like how he adds the southern nasality and twang. It's an opera song. He should have just sung it straight. He also was showing just how much of a show off and prima donna he is.
I love David Phelps voice and I listen to him a lot, but he has too much of a contemporary style in his vocals from singing that way for so long. In the case of opera, I'd have to go with Juan Diego Florez - react to this video if you haven't already it's Juan Diego Florez singing Nessun Dorma - ruclips.net/video/9x2iToj7L6Q/видео.html
I do not like David's performance of this song. I really like David Phelps, and I really like Nessum Dorma, but this was just not a great fit for him, he's singing opera like a regular (not sure how to describe it) singer, not an opera singer. I've heard the song sung beautifully and the singer sing beautifully, together... not so much.
He's addicting! Once you hear him sing you cannot listen to anyone else. He's just the very best!
D Phelps is the best tenor in the history of tenors IMO. He’s unbelievably talented.
I love how David smiles after a song, like he just had as much fun as we did. That "thing" in his voice is the anointing :)
Everything David sings is absolutely amazing. My favorite voice ever. And even better that it's all for the Lord.
I have seen him sing this song live in concert about 8 times now. It's stunning....always a standing ovation! Best male vocalist in the world today in my opinion.
Yes!
I totally agree!

Beautiful!! David rendered this fellow speechless! Lol!
Love, love, love it! He is so the best tenor! Thank you so much for all your reactions. I can see they come from your heart and soul. Well done!

One of God's beautiful gifts=David Phelps. More David Mr. Gamer. I appreciate you Brother !

True.
Absolutely agree...!!
I so agree. David makes this aria. Come alive
No matter what David sings, he is incredible. There is no one like him.

I have also been to the Barn a couple of times...great intimate setting. His daughter Maggie also has an incredible voice.
He has been classically trained in Opera. He is anointed!
