The pianist was Anthony Burger, who tragically passed away from a sudden heart attack at 46. Look him up, he has an amazing story. He fell on a radiator as a baby, and had severe burns to the palms of both hands. Doctors doubted he would ever recover full use, but by the time he was three, he would come home from church and pick out the melody of hymns by ear. He was touring with some of the biggest southern gospel bands by the time he was 15, he is very missed. There's a lot of great clips of him, though, he was an unbelievable talent.
It's super sad how he passed too, while doing something that he absolutely loved doing, playing the piano. He was aboard a cruise with the Gaithers, and soon enough, they looked over, and saw that he had froze, with his knuckles and hands over top the keys. Really, really sad.

I had the privelige to see a Gaither Christmas concert in Worcester Mass about 10 years ago. David did this song and you could hear a pin drop in a building of 16,000 people and i saw an awful lot of people wiping tears from their eyes.

Michael was like a son to Bill and Gloria, but when Guy came along, the GVB didn't lose any power on lead. Then when Jonathan left and Bill discovered David, that make up of rhe GVB should have been called the Gaither Power Vocal Band. Guy and David together gave them a power that has never been matched.

I stumbled on this video of David about a dozen years ago and was blown away. Recommended it to everybody. She went to see many of his concert while she lived at Myrtle beach and she wish she die while she was listening his song and God granted the desire of her heart . I got to see him sing at a Gaither concert in Macon, Georgia many years ago. On a stage of world class talent he stood at the top. That was about 3.5 hours of bliss. This brings back such wonderful memories.

God has truly given David his amazing voice. I’m also excited to see God using David and his amazing talent to speak to people who would otherwise never even hear him. Anthony Burger was an amazing talent in his own right too. He was a wonderful person and his loss was felt throughout the entire industry.
David is absolutely amazing. I went to Gaither Christmas concert in December 2000 & heard him sing this song live. Never in my life had someone's voice give me goose bumps or touched my soul the way he did that night. I have been a Phelps Phan ever since. I have been lucky enough to see him in concert so many times over the years that I've lost count. If you ever get an opportunity to see him in concert..do yourself a favor & go. You will be in awe the entire time. He is funny, humble, down to earth, and one of the nicest guys you will ever meet.
He has been one of the most under rated singers of MY lifetime. Due to his singular genre of Christian music many dont give him a 2nd look. When a human being takes your breath away and makes you speechless you have experienced a higher level of excellence in a voice and David Phelps IS one of those voices. Glad you experianced it! ✌

When l first heard David Phelps belt out this O Holy Night l couldn' t believe my ears.For me this is the best rendition ever sung by anyone.I have lost count of the many times l have heard this song. Piano player in that video is the late Anthony Burger. He was an amazing musician. You should check him out, if you get the chance. Anthony played and David sang in the Gaither Vocal Band.

This is, without question, the best reaction video i've seen on YT. The best by any you tuber to any artist/video. Lyle's eyes at 0:57 after David's second or third note are perfection. He is so taken with this amazing David (as so many of us are), and by the end with the emotions...just so refreshing. i've watched this way more than 50 times, and it never. gets. old. I'm so glad you listened to David. I have been listening to him for over 15 years and he is definitely one you should listen to more of. The high notes at the end ... most arrangements have those as a B-flat. David's arrangement is a C#. Then he goes back up there for the sustained last note - and he make it look like it is nothing to him to get there and hold it out! Incredible gift is his voice.

I got to see him sing at a Gaither concert in Macon, Georgia many years ago. On a stage of world class talent he stood at the top. That was about 3.5 hours of bliss. This brings back such wonderful memories.
I discovered that video about 6 years ago, and David Phelps...He is the best vocalist in the world to me, and absolutely thrilling to listen to.

David is one of my all time favorites! He does appear off and on with the Gaither Vocal Band, but is also a solo artist. I've been lucky to see him live several times - always jaw dropping.

Anthony Burger was an amazing talent in his own right too. He was a wonderful person and his loss was felt throughout the entire industry.

I went to Gaither Christmas concert in December 2000 & heard him sing this song live. Never in my life had someone's voice give me goose bumps or touched my soul the way he did that night. I have been a Phelps Phan ever since.
I have been lucky enough to see him in concert so many times over the years that I've lost count. If you ever get an opportunity to see him in concert..do yourself a favor & go. You will be in awe the entire time. He is funny, humble, down to earth, and one of the nicest guys you will ever meet.

When l first heard David Phelps belt out this O Holy Night l couldn' t believe my ears.For me this is the best rendition ever sung by anyone.I have lost count of the many times l have heard this song. You should also hear his rendition of "Never walk alone", "America the beautiful" and "Panis Angelicus" of his album "Classic" it will blow your mind.By the way it's now Christmas time.
I have always enjoyed listening to David Phelps music over the past several years but this song especially showcases his great God-given talents and I have heard about 100 different versions of this song by many different artists that sing it many differnt ways but this one has it's own speciality to it and still is my favorite. I can just feel the power every time I hear it when this song comes alive.
