    This is probably my favourite film in the apes verse. So well written, so well acted....and with a message we can all understand.. sometimes messing with nature ends badly for us.....we need to know our limits and make sure we don't kill ourselves.
    I resonated with koba, that absolute aversion to authority through power. They go even further in the second one with that nature in koba causing a rift within the apes. He hates authority. He hates misuse of power sometimes to the detriment to his own species. Those scars on his face are merely a footnote for his internal scars he suffered under men with power.
    It's so damn good and such a telescope on ourselves and the hubris of the human condition.

      Yep. And I honestly think it's time we switched the script and remade Tarzan. Caesar was given the opportunity, but not the choice, to grow as human as possible. I think there is a lot to explore in the story of a human given the opportunity to grow as apelike as possible. Maybe 'Planet of the Apes' is the perfect universe in which to explore that.

    Caesar is everything you would want in a revolutionary leader, he’s kind, fair, firm, wise, and powerful.
    All the apes looked up to him but Caesar knew he was nothing without his people. If the population is dumb, educate the population. Caesar could have easily been selfish and escape the facility and abandon all the other apes, but he knew it would be the wrong thing to do. Every decision he made was for the betterment of the collective instead of the individual. He knew Apes strong together

    I loved this trilogy! Best reboot ever! I really have to commend John Lithgow for this performance. My father died a few years before this and he had Parkinson’s disease. This caused my father’s mental faculties to decline. I almost wanted to cry when he asked Will where his keys were. My father would often ask for money and my mom would give it to him to make him happy. Just like Charles couldn’t use his keys because he couldn’t drive my dad didn’t need money because he couldn’t go anywhere to spend it. I really love this film but I really wanted to talk about John Lithgow who I feel doesn’t get enough credit for this role.

    @Gantros Год назад +4

    A few thoughts on the franchise and its underlying mocap technology:
    First, I feel there’s a plot hole of how Caesar uplifted the zoo apes. A short scene or montage showing Caesar infecting the zoo apes before his conflict with Dodge would have done much to resolve the discrepancy. Also, additional scenes where people would start showing symptoms where Caesar released the virus would subtle appear in blink and you would miss it moments, like Landon wiping away a bloody nose as he drives away from the sanctuary after the police view the footage of Dodge’s death or the zoo guide sniffling before Buck crashes the enclosure fence to release the apes.
    Second, in Dawn, when Caesar recuperates in Will’s overgrown house, I feel there was a missed opportunity for Will to record a farewell to Caesar on the camera before he succumbed to the flu. Further punctuating this scene could be a visibly sickened Will recording the video in his bedroom, where a body lies on the bed, covered with a sheet. This would presumably be Caroline and in the present Caesar would go to the bedroom to see two figures under the sheet, and then close the bedroom door.
    Finally, the mocap technology used gives me hope that future creature centric projects, such as the announced Gargoyles live-action series, have a chance of being fully realized.

    Using humans was the best idea! I love apes, but only humans can convey the personality and emotions that are necessary. Also-it’s a nod to the original films-the apes were played by humans then so have humans play the apes now!
