goddamn I fucking love that idea. Imagine them having to mop up thousands of ork bodies. It'd be particularly funny if they (like the Custodes) outrank basically anyone short of the emperor. So even Inquisition have to step aside when the Custodians arrive.
As someone who has wanted to see the Skaven in 40K since I started getting into the lore, I love this idea of giving the Great Horned Rat a Primarch Deamon Prince just feels so right... Can't wait to see the Chaos Legion he commands and the ratty mutations they possess
What this proves to me most of all is that Space Skaven would be an incredibly sick faction and would require only the slightest of adjustments from their vanilla kit. Fantastic job!
First, LOVE this conversion. Absolutely love the ways you embraced a biomechanical look for this Primarch. Second, would love to see you flesh this idea out more and give us some Chaos marines for this legion
If you make more Skaven Marines for Apostas, a three armed first captain loosely based on Throt the Unclean from fantasy would be an amazing thing. Master Mutator serving a mad geneticist.
I really like the idea of transforming AOS/fantasy models into 30-40r models! Combining parts of these settings is an amazing way to add more individuality in your models! Your skills and your imagination with these parts bring us alot of cool projects!
This is so cool. I love the niche in the lore you weaved your custom primarch into. It makes so much sense lorewise. Also, masterful kit bashing to bring it to life. If I were to build it myself i would maybe add a panel or 2 of 40k armor (maybe a pauldron or bracer from the daemon prince kit) to give it more of a space marine feel. But flawless as is. Well done and thank you!
I'm always amazed that you not only have a clear and cool vision for these models, but also that you're able to articulate it so well. Looking at it after it was primed black, you would think it's an actual Citadel mini and not just dozens of different bits hobbled together. Great job, I hope we get to see more kitbashes from the 2nd!
amazing job, i would say i would have added a few details to show they are more primarch/astartes like shoulder armor, the leg armor from angron but made to look less khornate. again just to push that they are a primarch
I love this idea for a unknown primarch. Its actually awesome and I love the model (THOUGH, I would have maybe liked him to be a SMIDGE more Spacemarine-y as a primarch?). Would be awesome to see it expanded
I’d love to see some legionaries, some chaos rat soldiers, and maybe a vehicle like a warp stone rhino tank. This has some really neat kitbash potential, like Rat Ogor dreadnauts, and storm vermin terminators. Great work!
This is a great take on the 2nd Primarch. I'd love to see you flesh out what the rest of the Legion would look like. You had my attention when you said He was found by the Horned Rat, and my unbridled interest when you confirmed that it's not just another take on Skaven in space.
If you'd pardon a remark on this already great kitbash, I feel that it lacks one, VERY STRONG sci-fi/40k element to pull it appart from the fantasy roots of the model. A huge plasma gun for an arm, the horns being half-metal and serving as coils for a generator on its back, I don't know. Maybe some Mechanicus parts would fit.
Or went to the other extreme; landed on a paradise world with no violence or want, grew up a hippie who doesn't want to fight and doesn't understand why we just don't get the Xenos into a share circle and talk our feelings out.
This is so fun. I did a Imperium Maledictum campaign with this as a concept. Essentially, you had a black site deep space research station that goes dark. The initial investigation shows everything is redacted around it but as you uncover more, its slowly revealed that theyve been essentially researching the warpstone meteor from Mordheim for millennia and only recently have they had a containment breach. Otherwise, its been responsible for the occurrence of various plagues in the sector throughout the years. The breach is from someone trying to steal it and has disappeared into the warp. That was also investigated by the Inquisition and a protocol was put in place to commandeer any and all available ships and units in an area if it ever gets sighted again. The PCs show up to such a sighting and have to start investigating a large hive where they begin to discover numerous horned rat cults and high levels of mutations occurring. The concern is that if they investigate too long the person who stole it aka a verminlord will move on and infect some new planet or that if people start leaving, they'll infect other.
Would love to see this idea expanded into the space marine chapter and space skaven. I'd also be really interested in seeing your take on an 11th primarch
Really like the idea for the primarch. You made it fit the setting great and I feel like it fills a niche that could get more attention now that there is a Fellgor Kill team (not that they are rats, but they are animal-mutated-like humans). This guy could certainly spur up some rebellion among those I feel.
Looks awesome, but I feel like as a Primarch, there should be some armor in him. It would have required butchering a Lion El Johnson or Gulliman kit, but I would have cut and modified the chest, shoulders, and other plates to mount on the Primarch's body.
I've been writing for my own homebrew chapter for a couple days now, and rn I'm doing a big segment on them with this video in the background. It's great!! The model looks incredible and the narration is great, super impressive. Keep it up!!
I'm interested to see how you make his "Legion". Will you created twisted Astartes more of a skaveny vibe? Does he interact with your "space skaven" at any point? Or the Drukari? Either way it'll be awesome!!
So I view the 2nd Legion as being Astartes-adjacent. Not first born, not primaris and not even chaos marines but an entirely new breed. Kind of like how thunder warriors and custodes are other attempts at making perfect warriors from human stock. I'm still fleshing out the ideas though :)
Love it! On my own ramblings, I had also theorized that primarchs being a representation of the many aspects of the Emperor, and vice versa, that the genetic modification genius was missing, and that could very well be the main trait of some of the missing primarchs... That and that the Emperor absolutely is a vampire.
Very much enjoyed the added background, especially for a more original build like this. You've got me wondering what kind of Primarch/Legion I'd like to see.
So much potential here! Love it. I could listen to lore about this forgotten legion for hours. Would love to see more kitbashes for this concept! Great stuff.
This was a great build, loved the detail that went in, and I'd love to see where you go with this concept. While noted as a lost Primarch, you could decide Genestealer Cult is the army behind it, or a cultist with Chosen theme to lean into the Horned Rat. It's a great vibe and very Fabious Bile in some aspects, please keep going if you are inspired.
Hey Pete, I've been kicking around two ideas for kitbashing that I just don't have the time or money to continue looking into right now, but might interest you: 1.) A CyberWolf Dreadnought. The idea of the Cyberwolf is essentially that of a Fenrisian wolf who served the sons of Russ so honorably and loyally that they don't let it just die, instead using cybernetics and bionics to resurrect it or extend it its life. To me, that has strong "dreadnought wolf" vibes, but the actual execution of the cyberwolf is so limited and specific that it sort of winds up feeling like it only gets cybernetics the equivalent of what you tend to see on standard Space Marine lieutenant or captain models. 2.) A Salamander equivalent of the Thunder Wolf Cavalry. It'd be a homebrew unit, obviously, but I really like the idea of Salamander riding on the backs of giant, firebreathing velociraptor lookin' things. Plenty of people have made 4-legged lizard riders for the Salamanders, but I think they'd look particularly cool atop firebreathing, saurian monsters. Details in my reply, if curious.
Really like everything about this one! The lore, the conversion and the painting 10/10! Now, all I can think about are all those amazing bits you got left from that kit hehehe
Nice. Would love to see this primarch's version of a standard marine, in their legion. Hobby tip -> if you want to fill in details (engraved bits) pour out some uv resin into it, then use an old and dull hobby knife blade to level it out before hitting it with a uv light. It'll cure and be solid, as well as easy to sand.
Dude that's awesome! I loved the lore dump at the end, although you mentioned he's coming back with a rebuilt legion based on clones of his own genestock, I really hope that's a future video!
This is by far one of my favorite videos. I would really love to see what your ideas are for infantry! I’m imagining many different troop variations that capture both the terrifying and silly side of the skaven.
Love this, I'm new to 40k lore but stuff like this is amazing to me. Already have ideas for the chapters under Apostis' command Pre-Exile: The Gene Weavers. Like their father, they hold an aptitude for gene manipulation, and willingly underwent the trials with the hope of being improved, learning the art from the best, and growing closer to their father. Every Gene Weaver was a practiced apothecary, and wielded needle-like blades called Syringe Rapiers that injected their enemies with a rapidly mutating virus that would kill in either moments or days. Either way, a single strike would end a duel. They would wield Vaccinators in place of bolters, which fired bolter rounds meant to pierce armor and inject a caustic toxin to melt their targets. The Gene Weavers were naturally at odds with the Irons Hands and Mechanicus, as they viewed mechanical augments as distasteful modification of the pure temple that is the body, only to be used in pursuit of genetic augmentation and removed as soon as possible. Post-Exile: The Perfect Sons Apostis held himself and his skills in high regard before his exile, but his fall to chaos made him an extreme narcissist. This is what the Horned Rat used to manipulate him into its service, playing to his ego to make him fall. His legion of clones are a reflection of this, being perfect copies of each other whilst not being as good as their gene-sire. They are modified during their inception to serve specific goals in the legion, but otherwise are the exact same person, their only differences being personality due to experience or intentional changes made by Apostis (like the clone army in star wars). A notable warrior and battlefield commander is Primus, the first clone Apostis ever created. Primus wields twin Syringe Rapiers, Progress and Mercy, Progress injecting the Apostis Genome into targets to warp them into a twist version of the Perfect Sons, and Mercy injecting a mind nullifying toxin that leaves the body bereft of a mind like a biological servitor. He seeks out Astartes champions to strike down with Progress, whilst creating an army of those he strikes with Mercy to aid him. Just an idea I had while watching, pretty sure there are bad ideas in there but I had fun writing this so who cares?
Wow, your Primarch looks fantastic, Pete. You've definitely given me more inspiration get started on the Ratdeptus Ratstartes / PrimeSouris Marine army which i have been wanting to make for ages.
Such a cool idea and a good way to bring Skaven into 40k, im currently working on the 11th Legion Primarch and marines. Named Chax'Qzuel, the Primarch had the ability to transform into whatever they could think of. Because of this the Primarch felt shame cutting down Xenos and made it seem like he Died in battle. However the Primarch and the Legion itself left to find a new home where The Primarch transformed into a new leader under the name Xochi, a lizard with the beauty of a goddess.
So what if you created a sort of necron primarch Ferrus Manus? Im not sure what kits you might use, but Im leanimg towards a leviathan dreadnaugbt with chaos night mechanical tendrils and necron deztroyer parts.
I would absolutely love to see your take on ordinary legionaries of the 2nd, both in terms of what heraldry they have and how their physiology was corrupted by the mad tinkering of their primarch. This whole thing gave me some delightful clan moulder vibes
I liked the kitbashing in this video. It's really cool and shows lot of different ideas. I would like to see your take on the 11th legion's primarch, would be cool if you made them a loyalist to contrast Adpostis being a traitor who fell to worshipping the horned rat.
YOOOOO SO COOL! I've been building my own skaven space marine legion and this is some great inspiration. Thanks! Your kitbashes have always been great!
Incredible paint job! I would personally like a few more armour panels, guns, or something else to give more of a hint of being a primarch. It looks very 40k but it looks like it could be a C'tan or a Greater Chaos Demon either for Vashtor or Nurgle. Still I think you've done an incredible job! Loved the fanfic lore dump.
I have Skaven kitbashed, the basic layout is a genestealer neophyte hybrid torso, a stormvermin head, and lower torso with, admech galvanic rifles. They look quite good.
My god he is absolutely gorgeous! Please make us some marines from this legion. Thanks for all you make, it's so inspiring for the hobby and objectively damn so cool!
I really like how you were able to transform that Skaven kit into something that feels much more at home in 40k! The one critique I would have is that I would have loved to see him with a bit more armor to really drive that primarch-ness. Something about it just doesn't quite have that feeling of continuity with the Astartes, even with the ports added over the body.
Love this guy, great work! It would have been cool to mix some space marine armor fragments onto his upper body, like shoulder pauldrons, to allude to his Astarte's past.
IMO, very well done. Looks great. BUT, I would say he needs more Space Marine flavor. A pauldron with a legion decal for his legion, maybe a spiky, rat themed power pack on the back, hooked up to the spear? Pretty sure you could use the Poison Wind Globadier pack, or perhaps some of Ikit's stuff for that.
Loved it! I hope you're planning on kitbashing some marines for your 2nd Legion too, I'm interested to see what kind of adaptations/mutations they might have...
If you were to consider kit-bashing a new faction, I'd love to see more interpretations of Eldar Exodites. I've always assumed they'd be the Wild Elves of the setting, where their planets house their infinity circuits, and they make heavy use of Bonesingers to control wraithbone constructs. For example, a wrsithbone snake that also doubles as mobile fortifications or the namesakes of the aspect warriors. My other idea for a fun sub-faction is a clan of Orks whose maddox's have been splicing them with 'nid parts. I like the idea of Gork and Mork trying to fend off the Hivemind whilst also fighting for control to evolve the boyz to be more brutal or cunning.
Imo Gork and Mork are too ego centric to admit that 'Nids are "more 'ard" than their Boyz. Might be that the good amount of dakka gets their excitement up for a good crumpin' and that gets them moving towards Krork-ness, but any group that lowers themselves to splicing in boogz is heretical and not properly Orky.
Honestly, love the idea of tying one of the Lost Legions to the Horned Rat. Could see the other tied to Malal following this logic. Would love to see the Astartes underneath this Primarch.
Looks awesome. Both the build, the idea and the paint is amazing. I don't love the face though. It just looks like the cables end there, not like a cohesive construct. Feels like it should have a cleaner chin/mouthpart, but I don't really have your vision.
Pretty damn good dude!! One critique, not even a critique but 1 cool thing to add would’ve been tiny part of his armour remaining, like all faded but his og loyal legion colours. Keep up the fantastic work dude!

goddamn I fucking love that idea. Imagine them having to mop up thousands of ork bodies. It'd be particularly funny if they (like the Custodes) outrank basically anyone short of the emperor. So even Inquisition have to step aside when the Custodians arrive.
@@gwingcommander oh definitely, they should definitely be some high ranking individuals!
Not mops, but flame throwers.
There is a Pete video for a custodes terminator thats been affected by Nurgle. Its a few years old at this point.
@@dustinsmith2021 flaming mop throwers?
I feel like him and Fabius would either get along swimmingly, or be the greatest rivals the current imperium has ever seen…
This would go insanely hard with Skaven Chaos Marines, and a bunch of RatMech (Skaven+Admech) Cultists.
The Cyberrats by Mortian would also make for some great parts to this, too!
As someone who has wanted to see the Skaven in 40K since I started getting into the lore, I love this idea of giving the Great Horned Rat a Primarch Deamon Prince just feels so right... Can't wait to see the Chaos Legion he commands and the ratty mutations they possess
I'd love to see you build this into a fully functional army with characters and troops
Agreed
What this proves to me most of all is that Space Skaven would be an incredibly sick faction and would require only the slightest of adjustments from their vanilla kit.
Fantastic job!
Space Skaven, yes, yes!
Cool idea, and would love to see your take on the techno barbarians from Old Terra
One of my favorite things Pete does is:
Gets a kit early by GamesWorkshop
Kitbaehes something entirely different
And i think thwts pretty near
I think it’s also neat that GW continue to send him preview kits knowing he will do this.
The new primarchs are simply amazing, its my favorite fig collection on your chanel. Simply beautiful
Great work!
That is some of your finest paintwork, not to mention the awesome kitbash concept! That is Golden Demon entry material!
This is a great take on the 2nd Primarch. I'd love to see you flesh out what the rest of the Legion would look like. You had my attention when you said He was found by the Horned Rat, and my unbridled interest when you confirmed that it's not just another take on Skaven in space.
I love the crackling warp flow you added to the base, I think I might use that effect for my armies on parade project
The Primarch of the H.R.U.D. Legion. The Horned Rat's Unified Destroyers.
The other lost one was more emo than corax and Conrad, Big E couldn't handle it
The Edge Lords
Dad, it's not a phase!
I'd love to see you tackle clone fulgrim, maybe painting him in the Sons of the Phoenix scheme
@@PeteTheWargamer perhaps the space skaven are the cultists that follow them.
No words can express how awesome this is.
I agree. I want to see more
I honestly think this is the best kit bash I've ever seen. AMAZING!
I'd definitely love to see more of Adpostis and his Legion/Warband of Chaos Marines! Very well done, Pete. As usual, you blow me out of the water!
Man I dont even know that much about 40k but this is actually incredibly creative and looks like so much fun, now i want to try
Hey Pete, I've been kicking around two ideas for kitbashing that I just don't have the time or money to continue looking into right now, but might interest you:
1.) A CyberWolf Dreadnought.
Loved the added lore, absolutely hope to see this expanded on in the future
What a cool idea and an even cooler build! A genius way to blend Skaven into 40K, too. Nice job!
Yo your fanfic and intro to the Primarch was quite on point, well considered and written, and very within the lore. Nice voice modulation as well!
This is by far one of my favorite videos. I would really love to see what your ideas are for infantry!
I’m imagining many different troop variations that capture both the terrifying and silly side of the skaven.
Would like to hear and see more of this. The most interesting interpretation of the 2nd I've seen and your model is sick!
Love this, I'm new to 40k lore but stuff like this is amazing to me. Already have ideas for the chapters under Apostis' command
Pre-Exile: The Gene Weavers.
Post-Exile: The Perfect Sons
Apostis held himself and his skills in high regard before his exile, but his fall to chaos made him an extreme narcissist.
This was awesome, I would absolutely love to see you make some chaos marine conversions/kitbashes for this legion.
Such an amazing idea and execution!
So awesome! I actually have some ideas on some kitbashes for your primarch series
Feel free to share them!
Commenting to get a notif when you reply - may or may not be invested cus I wanna steal an idea for myself hehe
So what if you created a sort of necron primarch Ferrus Manus? Im not sure what kits you might use, but Im leanimg towards a leviathan dreadnaugbt with chaos night mechanical tendrils and necron deztroyer parts.
Incredible! Love your story telling and how every bit just comes together. 😊
I would absolutely love to see your take on ordinary legionaries of the 2nd, both in terms of what heraldry they have and how their physiology was corrupted by the mad tinkering of their primarch. This whole thing gave me some delightful clan moulder vibes
Another great conversion Video. I love to see what you have created over the years. Awesome work 👍
I liked the kitbashing in this video.
Would love to see more of this version of the 2nd Legion! You'll get to play with all the dark Eldar gene splicy bits!
Shoulderpads
That looks awesome! I'd love to see more kitbashes to flesh out their forces!
I'd also love to see you tackle a defiler
Beautifully built. Amazing painting. Awesome lore. Subscribed.
This is i think my favourite video of all of yours Pete. I love the original model and what youve is just fantastic
I have Skaven kitbashed, the basic layout is a genestealer neophyte hybrid torso, a stormvermin head, and lower torso with, admech galvanic rifles. They look quite good.
Please we need to see more of this legion! Such a fun concept with the potential for awesome body horror and unique marines :)
My god he is absolutely gorgeous! Please make us some marines from this legion. Thanks for all you make, it's so inspiring for the hobby and objectively damn so cool!
This definitely makes me think of ragdan infected/tainted/controlled primarch. Super dope.
That’s such a cool idea and execution! Would be really cool to see some of his followers too
A really cool idea. I so seldom see people engage this part of the lore for their forces.
I, for one, would love to see an expansion on this concept lore and all!
The tape made it look like Hastur the King in Yellow. Great job
Love the idea. Beastman-like space marines would be super awesome to see. Can't wait to see how you expand on this idea!
Honestly, love the idea of tying one of the Lost Legions to the Horned Rat. Could see the other tied to Malal following this logic. Would love to see the Astartes underneath this Primarch.
The primarchs are probably my favourite of your videos. The chaos corrupted ones especially are amazing
Looks awesome. Both the build, the idea and the paint is amazing. I don't love the face though. It just looks like the cables end there, not like a cohesive construct. Feels like it should have a cleaner chin/mouthpart, but I don't really have your vision.
Another crazy-good Kitbash Pete!
Maaan, every time - you just blow my mind dude.
Ah my new favorite Primarch: Magnus the RAT, Cheeser of Ways.
This is beautifull especially the rat gods approach and lore overall thanks, nice work.
magnificent build as always
Thank you 😊
Absolutely mind-blowing. Spectacular work.
Dude great work! loved the speech at the end. Now just for the 11th primarch
Pretty damn good dude!! One critique, not even a critique but 1 cool thing to add would’ve been tiny part of his armour remaining, like all faded but his og loyal legion colours. Keep up the fantastic work dude!
This is a very interesting project and I love the background of him.
Love the vibes. Would love to see some Chaos Marines, or some Cultists in this legions style
