Hi Sean, it’s John P, I won the Dragon X8 from your last giveaway! This bow will be keeping a 71 year old hunter(my dad) in the woods during bow season a few more years. Thanks for all the work you do for us hunters keeping us informed of products out there, and letting us see your journey through the years.
That's awesome John! I'm so glad to hear it! God's blessings on you both!
This is the bow I've landed on in getting me into archery. As much as I want an Elite, I don't have the money for it right now and this package has everything I need.
Enjoy it.
To get everything you need to start out for that price is great. I couldn't begin to tell you the time and money I have invested. Start out with something like this bow to make sure archery is for you, if not your not out much. Good luck and shoot'em straight

Sean, I ordered an X8 from your link and received the bow and was very pleased with the quality. Then yesterday I received another one that I didn’t order or get charged for. I’ve reached out to Nathan at Sanlida but still waiting on a response. Just wanted to make sure you didn’t have like a buy one get one free deal. Maybe God is trying to Bless somebody, wouldn’t be the first time. Thank you Sean for your content and open love for God, very inspiring God bless you brother!
No, no deal like that going on. Sounds to me like someone accidentally processed the same order twice. Thank you for your honesty. God bless you
I got the bow last week and have been figuring out its quirks. One that is significant is the tolerances of the drawlength modules to the cams. There's too much variance where you can have both set to the same drawlength via the screws, but because of the loose tolerances, they won't be identically fixed in mirrored positions. I had to loosen both module screws and then push the module at their drawstops to set both modules in the same positions. Mind you, I had already gotten this bow "tuned" and shooting bulletholes, BUT I had to flip the limbs top-to-bottom, and set the arrow 1/16" nock low on the string at brace in order to do so. Now, I discovered why. I made the module adjustment as mentioned above and when I drew the bow back, the bottom cam was a full quarter-inch away from stopping on the cable in relation to the top. I put a half twist onto the bottom yoke cable and the cams came right back into time. I will shoot it again tomorrow and it should tune with the arrow level, or slightly nock high. I upgraded the rest to a QAD Hunter, so it wasn't the Hostage rest that came with the bow.
👍
@@seansoutdoors Okay, I think I figured out one of this bow's quirks - it doesn't like cable-driven dropaway rests. I was wondering why in your tuning video of this bow, you were able to shoot a perfect bullethole with the nocking point set level to the bow, and I couldn't after I installed a dropaway. You were running the stock Hostage rest with nothing pulling on the buss cable. I realized this when was able to "adjust" the drawstop modules and got the drawstops to come out of time. This bow is as twitchy as the old Elite GT500 that had the same issue with any cable-drive dropaway rest. It's the extra force applied to the buss cable that easily throws off the synchronization of the cams as they rotate back to brace during the shot. I ordered a limb-driven rest today and should be here Monday for me to play with and figure out this bow. I'll keep you updated.
Those are pretty cool and quality compound bows,y step son got one from Sean and he got his first deer with it this season, he got it last year for Christmas and he sill loves it, uses it for practicing target shooting and great for hunting. - God Bless Sean
Great! Thanks for sharing. God bless you
Awesome review brother.. I like the detail in how you do what your doing. I can't mess up to badly if I have to change anything
Blessings... Dennis in saskatchewan
Thanks brother!
Another great video. Thanks Sean. I shot Hoyt, and Bowtech. When looking for another bow for fun, your video got me to buying a Sanlida. Love the bow. My girlfriend loves hers too. I watched your video on making bow strings. Have you ever made strings for your Sanlida x8?.
I have not yet.
I look forward to get one from your giveaway. Great video.
Awesome! God bless you
Hello Sean... it's a pleasure to write you a message. I bought a dragon x8 pro, I am very happy with, it's my first bow. But, I have a question... my lower cam is different than the top cam, is it normal? One of the walls of the cam is thinner than the other one and it's "cutting" or shaving the serving material of the string. Is there a way to send you some pictures?
Thank you for all the videos and for your help.
That does not sound right. Email me through my website
@@seansoutdoors hello Sean... I sent a message there. Sean's outdoor Adventures
Thank you Sean God Bless
👍
Is 31” the maximum draw length? There are 4 additional holes on the cam beyond the #1 position. Can those holes be used to extend the draw length past 31 inches?
No. 31 is the maximum.
Any idea what the distances between the limbs? Just ordered one of these to check it out and I may put some bojacks limb dampeners on it
I do not know.
Hi Sean, I know this would be more than enough for dear. But would it be fast enough, at 29" draw length or better maxed out on Dw, for elk? Got a buddy I'm getting into hunting.
Yes
Man I wish I would have gotten the pro package!! What was the price difference??
$50
@@seansoutdoors wow.. considering I'm missing a few components,should have went for that!!thanks
Thanks for the good review I'm new to bows and bought the pro package it worked pretty good so much so I bought a high end expensive bow because I liked shooting. Long story short thr expensive pse nxt 31 evo is light years better than the dragon. Accuracy and power is way way different
Enjoy it.
Brand new to archery and bow hunting and just got this bow. It came with a very low draw weight. To max out the draw weight do I just keep tightening the limb bolts (alternatingly) until they fully bottom out tight? Is it that simple for full draw weight?
Yes that's pretty much it.
@@seansoutdoors Thanks, Sean. Appreciate you and your channel
@@RoosterSpur Thank you.
How did that work? I want to tighten them up until I see absolutely no thread, and that should be full 70lbs right?
If you are shooting at the longest draw length, yes. If you are shooting at a shorter draw length, it will likely not reach 70 pounds. This is a common characteristic of these types of bows due to the draw length modules. All brands that have a long adjustment range like this are only able to reach peak advertised weight at the longest draw length settings.
Hi Sean, I've got the x8..and i cant seem to get the cam timings right..no matter whay I do...the bottom cam is always ahead by a quarter inch or more...if i twist the cable..the top cam is quarter inches ahead...is that normal for this bow? What do I need to check...really appreciate any guidance I can get
If bottom cam is hitting first, look at the top cam and see if it’s leaning a little to one side. If it is, add a half twist to one side to straighten it. If there is no lean, just pick a side and put a half twist in only one yoke. This will help move the cam timing in smaller increments. If that still doesn’t solve it for you, there is an aftermarket solution that is like a little hour glass shaped piece that goes into the cable to essentially shorten it in very small increments. Tournament archers use them to fine tune their bows but I forget the name of it. Lancaster Archery sells them.
@@seansoutdoors that worked! But I'm noticing another issue, so it like...holding the bow steady and pulling back, now sometimes the top cam touches first or sometimes the bottom...the lead is approx 1/6 of an inch
Actually, after sometime.. without even shooting..the bottom cam is advanced to quarter of an inch
It is very hard for me to assess what the issue is through comments like this. I would need to see it to more clearly understand what you are dealing with. I would recommend having a bow technician look at it, or if you live in my area we can meet up, but trying to help you fix this through a string of comments is not clear enough for me to see what the problem is.
@@seansoutdoors I agree, I was hoping this could be something obvious and specific to the bow. I live in India and I don't really have any support of that sort where I live. But thanks a lot Sean, I'm a step closer thanks to yoke adjustment.
I'm shooting hunter xt 340gr and the fletching contact the cables. Is that normal
It's more related to the rest and fletching angle. If the rest is not centered properly but is too far to the right then the fletch will be closer to the cables. Check that first.
It is really quite shooting bow I would take it over a pse or a Mathew bow
👍
Hey I'm getting mine in tomorrow could it kill a deer if so at 50lbs what's the max distance you would probably say
Yes. I'd recommend a razor blade cut on contact broadhead and 30 yards or less for a shot.
@@seansoutdoors thanks have you killed a deer with it
@@seansoutdoors cs it looks like you've killed some pretty good size deer
@@ashton5722 I have not used it hunting for deer, but I would have no problem using it for that. I shoot around 65 pound pull and 31 inch draw which gives me a lot of speed and power.
Love it
👍
How much is this package & how do u aquire it ?
249 there is a link in the description section of this video
I won one of these in one of your contests and it didn't come with half of the stuff it was supposed to. I'm just dealing with it because I appreciate the gift but you might want to let them know they are sending out incomplete kits
Probably because they are labeled as refurbished bows I'm guessing.
Can a drop away arrow rest work on this bow
Yes, I put a QAD ultra rest hdx on mine.
Can you add How to mount the peepsight?
When you back the limb bolts out like I showed it takes the tension off of the string. Just spit the string in half and put half the strands on one side of the peep and half the strands on the other. I probably have a close up of tiring in a peep in this link once you have the peep installed. ruclips.net/video/q0aqCD2UQig/видео.html
@@seansoutdoors on my peepsight i have 4 places for string. And when i tried to put it evenly 2 to each place it is looking as it would shred. Btw. Sanlida Company had sent me the Cam replacement and thanks to your video i was able to fix it myself...
I dislike the fact that it doesn’t have a proper grip. Can it be added?
You could probably buy an aftermarket grip to fit on there but you'd have to research it. Most bow companies nowadays build bows as this one is, without an added rubber grip, but just the bare, painted riser. I actually love this grip as it is but everyone is different. Perhaps try searching the Internet for aftermarket bow grips or something like that. Good luck with it.
The dragon x8 bow is great grow in bow
👍
Crazy how so many people promote this product yet it's not available left handed.
Definitely
@@seansoutdoors yeah, left handed people don't need good-value entry-level compound bows. Discouraging new people from getting into the sport ultimately benefits everybody. I agree with your assessment.. definitely.
My issue with Sanlida is that their bows are right handed only
Yeah
It's all OK once you scrap the toy grade arrows that come with the bow.
👍
I have a dragon x8 bow it is a nasty bow
👍
First to comment good video
👍
that a lefty
No they don't make a left handed model
@@seansoutdoors I only used a bow a couple of time and I'm a righty I do anything on my right hand as the same as rifle or gun right trigger also the same on a crossbow BUT when i see a bow and the arrow on the left its very awkward
Has anyone ever told you you look like William Mapother?
Who is that?
@@seansoutdoors he's an actor. He played Ethan Rom in Lost. Dunno what else he did, I just know him from there.
@@shinydisc0balls Oh, yes, I have been told that before, lol! I never saw the show.
