I found this site just by chance and it brought back wonderful memories. I first visited Glenmalure nearly 70 years ago and it was paradise. VERY basic but a little lost world of contentment. I am 84 now and my mate and I fell in love with Ireland and visited everytime we could get away from work we particularly loved the Wicklows and at that time there were far more hostels than there are now. My last visit was about twenty five years ago and it made me very sad that so many enchanting Irish hostels had disapeered. I am now disabled so Irish trips are in the past but even so I still go hosteling. I joined the YHA in1953 and have been a member ever since.
