Gig vlog - Going direct with a Strymon Iridium (and my pedalboard)

Finally a gig! I got a really cool opportunity to record a 15-minute set for the City of Richmond Hill as part of Canada Day. I took the opportunity to see how the Strymon Iridium does in the wild. Spoiler alert: it did really well! It was so much fun being out there and playing these songs live.

Great video and performance 💪 left a like and a sub 😄 I found your channel cause im thinking about buying iridium to replace my helix cause i have all the essential pedals on a board and wasnt so happy with overcomplicated tweaking on it everytime i got to a different venue or recording at home. Thank you so much! I’m really glad you enjoyed it! Yes, the iridium is so perfect for just getting on with the playing with minimal tweaking. I love the simplicity of it. I even have an acoustic IR for when i need to go direct.

Hi. Did you have to put the Iridium through a DI box into the PA or did you just go directly in?

Yeah, well depends on the venue. If it’s closer to my place and there’s transportation available, I’ll bring the amp. Otherwise, I’ll take the iridium. I also have a Vox AC10 that I bring to smaller gigs. Personally, the iridium has been a recording tool for me. I still prefer having an amp live if I have the choice.

Thank you! Yeah they had a DI box there. But I’ve used the iridium without one too and it still sounded great :)

@@destroyerofdreams42069 Hey! In that case, I’d run it though something like the Line6 powercab and have that run out to the front of house. That should provide enough of a clean signal :)
