Who doesn’t love Larkin Poe!?! They’re the sweetest most humblest band/sisters! My daughter and I have been fans of them since their Lovell Sister’s days, this is so well deserved!
I was fortunate to see them live in Mumbai at the Mahindra Blues Festival 2 years ago
I guess you'd have to have heard of them to love them though, no? 😂
@@chrisruef9221 , at some point you may discover that they have several great songs that never have been recorded. They are only to be found on youtube live videos. This includes their probably still most popular song", "Mad As A Hatter". Many people have found the band through their long row of completely stripped down living room covers.
I’ve never even heard of them
I had the great pleasure of spending a few minutes with Rebecca and Megan when they were back home in Atlanta for a show a few years ago. They are absolutely as warm and friendly as they are incredibly talented.
Hold on, Larkin Poe and Rhett Shull on one video?!?!?!
Yes please, I’ll take 10
The streams are being crossed!!!
"Oh probably that time we opened for AC DC..." Exsqueeze me? 🤯
Yes in Vienna Tyler Bryant and his band Shakedown opened for AC/DC in 2016. My son and I were fortunate enough to see this concert. Of course we went to see AC/DC, Shakedown was just bonus,
Tyler Bryant is no joke! Been gaining in popularity steadily for a few years now. Top notch rock band!
She doesn’t think of herself as a guitarist yet she is badass on the guitar! Truly badass!
She have been touring the world several times and have been jamming with people like Bonamassa and Billy Gibbons. Have written and produced a Grammy nominated blues album. Just saying..... 😄
@@westmus Why did you respond with that? Make that an original comment but your addition does absolutely nothing... It doesn't even relate to what he said...
He was simply admiring her ability and you decided to give the wikipedia career resume as if he challenged her ability?
Her playing with those people doesn't change the fact she didn't think of herself as a player for a long time...
She is so cool and so humble too. LP is a killer band.
I've been following TB since I saw him tour with Jeff Beck. He opened with a cowboy guitar and a case and played a really cool set. HUGE fan of Larkin Poe. They are amazing.
Great video Rhett. This approach and vibe content wise is really refreshing. Seeing another artist get acclimated with gear while you’re there in the room is really cool.
Felt like a cool little community.
I doubled back to check this out as I’ve started using the HX Effects almost exclusively lately. Thanks Rhett!
This is the rec that I was waiting on
I love the New Blues, soulful Rock that Larkin Poe is doing. Rebecca has a great voice, and Megan's slide tone drips.
Love that board. I’m taking it maybe a step further in terms of all-in-one effects and real amp, but still having backup amp solution. PedalTrain Nano+ with a HX Stomp XL and a MeloAudio EXP-001 into my Deluxe Reverb. That’s it. Never been happier.
Man is she a great talker and speaker. I could listen to her talk all day. Something about her makes me wanna listen lol
I think the way she described how she entered the world of guitar playing , is really the best way to enter the guitar world. It should always be about the song and the music no matter how extremely awesome the guitar is. I spent too many years worshipping guitar playing rather than making the music. Make the music and the guitar will happily follow.
I built my board around the HX effects for 3 reasons - 1) in built electronic routing options are amazing to build cool pedal interactions, 2) I am new to guitar and didn't know what I wanted for modulations/reverbs/filters/wah etc but I have my drives which I love so can loop them in, and 3) options 1 and 2 for only £400 is amazing value. I use the Simplifier from DSM & Humboldt as my amp and I think it sounds killer!
I love the HX Effects! It's the centrepiece of everything on my pedalboard. Great for experimenting. I've always wanted to try something from Strymon. Their pedals always seem so exciting to me.
Cool. Always love hearing about different pedals. I love the switch block.
Thanks it’s great to see such great players get together and talk shop again thanks
I found out about Larkin Poe last year and have been obsessed ever since.
Love Larkin Poe. Awesome to see a collaboration with Rhett!
Love Larkin Poe! Cool behind the scenes. Hopefully I'll be hearing that rig sometime soon live.
Rhett, thanks for introducing me to Larkin Poe. Didn't know the band so delighted to see they are touring the UK later this year so will definetly catch a show.
Well this was fun! Rebecca is so talented as is her sister and .. Tyler doesn’t exactly suck 😎😜. Rig sounds awesome and is good for thought as we all try - at whatever level - to play in front of people again! Love every one of you and thanks for keeping us weekend old guys inspired 🎸
XTS built my pedalboard. Super clean and amazing sounding. Those guys are awesome.
Great content as always, man! I especially enjoyed this one. Thanks for doing what you do !
Wow, how have I not listened to Larkin Poe before? Another awesome video Rhett, thanks for helping me find these talented ladies!
Shull, Beato, Larkin Poe- what makes this song great---I'll be waiting. C'mon Mannnnn.
Love love LOVE Larkin Poe!!! Awesome video Rhett!!
I saw Larkin Poe a few weeks ago in Brighton (been wanting to see them for years and they were fantastic, obviously). Nice to have this insight into how Rebecca gets those swampy sounds I love so much...thanks!
I have loved Larkin Poe since "Kin."
I'm so glad they have grown such a following
Great video👍🙂
When Rebecca picked up the unit I was surprised there was no side handles to help grip the unit. That would help to avoid dropping it. 😱
Larkin Poe is my new favourite band.
That's why I love the HXFX.. it's like a great midi/patch controller in a small package but filled with great effects.
Great video Rhett! Love the behind the scenes content!
Wow! What a great video. Props to XTS. What a great company. I was so worried this would include Mason and Vertex. What a relief that was NOT the case. :)
Larkin Poe and Rhett Shull.....YES PLEASE!!
Lot of people getting pedal boards built and finally heading out on the road!
Hell Yeah! Great video...I LOVE Larkin Poe, Megan rocks on the lap steel
Rebecca and Megan are so freakin awesome. Been following the two since way back in the day when they played their older sister.
I appreciate what you did there Rhett❣️
Yeah man! Big Larkin Poe fan, big fan of your channel… great to see the 2 forces collide on this video!
Larkin Poe rocks the house! Love them both! Great video Rhett, you are moving up as a go to guy!!
Love that man, thank you very much for this great time!!
Love Larkin Poe. Was gonna try and see them April 2020 at the Jane Fonda Theater in LA, but... something or other happened that canceled the show... Anyway, great video as always,. Always cool to see how traveling musicians set up their live rig.
thanks Josh, I'm digging the beard... great build/helping your friend-out vid... have a nice day
Awesome video. Love this pedalboard setup!
Awesome video. Love their music. I love the gear videos. Great job.
XTS make some killer pedals themselves. Actually quite underrated as they don't market as hard as a lot of other companies.
Also, the way she looks at her hubby was really lovely to see.
Just built a new board and made sure my mxr submachine was in easy reach. Love that pedal.
I have and LOVE Tyler's TB Drive Shakedown Special by Rodenberg. It can be as clean or nasty as you want it and the entire spectrum sounds soooooo gooooood.
Just did production for a festival in Fort Worth that Larkin Poe headlined. The rigs were so nice!
Love the content. Of course great fan of Larkin Poe. Rhett, Interested to see what you do to change your rig.
So cool thanks for this! Do more videos like this!
Larkin Poe (Rebecca & Megan Lovell) are FANTASTIC!!
Check out the MXR/CAE MC403 for any future pedalboard builds. I have one under a cool old Fix pedalboard and it makes everything dead silent.
Also Barefoot Buttons might come in handy for that sugar-boost sitting where it is. They make some extra tall button adapters that would give the sugar boost button a taller profile to hit it easier.
The first famous person I saw to swear by the HX Effects was Billy Corgan, he said he loves it. Thought I'd throw that in there for the Line 6 deniers in the comments.
Cool vid, Poe is otherwordly for their age, they rock.
This is my favorite crossover episode!
Love me some Larkin Poe. Tyler. too. Hope they come to San Francisco !
Two of my favourite in one place
Just saw this rig live tonight at a theater in Denver. It was totally badass.
My good friend has the Deco pedal. He’s my favorite guitar player in my area and it’s an important part of his sound. It’s expensive but damn is it a good pedal.
Saw Larkin Poe in Winnipeg's folkfest, they kiiiilled it.
Cool to see them featured here, you've got some extremely talented friends Rhett!
I have the mxr sub machine and sugar drive on my own board they rock!
Hey Rhett, Great video! I love seeing how people think about creating their sound.
Could you do a video on the new things you learned from the folks at XTS with regards to the HX Effects? I love that pedal and I’m always looking for new and creative ways to use it. Thanks again for the great video .
I think
HX with drives and octave in the loop > Deco > Iridium > to PA System
Killer little rig! Love it..
I cringed a little when she said the buttons will ‘hopefully be indestructible’. I somehow broke the tap tempo on my HX Effects (a local tech repaired it) so go easy with those boots!
super cool! I'd be interested to hear what sort of input their FOH engineer had in the design of things
Cool! I get to check it out in October at the Recher in Baltimore!
I just sent Rebecca a touring case for her guitars! Love the video!
This was a good one man!!! Thanks!!
That tone at the beginning🤯🤯🤯🔥🔥
Same here folks,
My new bass pedalboard is based around hx effects a source audio C4 and aftershock and the now legendary Empress Zoia
Loved this video!!! Wish it was 4x as long though hahaha, was getting well into it! Thanks
Love love her voice , great video !
Yeah, I gotta check out her band. She said something about 15 years on tour!!! I was like what? I better check them out. 🤘🏻🇺🇸🎸
Love my Helix HX Effects!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Love Tyler’s ‘Spinal Tap’ story😆….great video
I’m a proud owner of a HX FX, such a nice underrated piece of gear
Great video. Thanks Rhett. I'm prepping for a new build. I've been using HX FX and Stomp for years now. If you're so inclined, I'd love to see a video incorporating your approach to utilizing the HX FXs' switching features. I've been thinking of reaching out to XTS as well. Cheers!
Wow she is a fantastic player! Checking out Larkin Poe now.
You left out the most important piece of information. How many Shoyles do you give that rig?
Just noticed how well spoken Rebecca is and has no accent whatsoever. Keep rockin!
Wow, this woman knows her stuff, and she is a badass on guitar. Having you along for the ride was a treat. Loved the video!
The HX Effects is such a great piece of kit.
For so many reasons I love Rebecca. Voice? Angelic. Guitar tone? Devilish. This makes my Friday.
Now, what I want to know is; between you and Megan, who has the better slide tone? ;-)
Megan for sure.
She is a super cool HB. I want to be her GT.
Great vid, great board, great player
Great video!
Beautiful and a great guitarist and singer!
Agreed. Rebecca is gorgeous
I spied a Maxon AD999 on a board. One of my favs of all time.
Loved this one!
LOVE the sub machine!
Never knew you were friends with Tyler Bryant and Rebbeca Lovell 🔥🔥👌🏻
Then you definitely need to check out Rhett’s video from a few months ago with Tyler. That served as my introduction to both TBSD and Larkin Poe for which I am forever grateful.
@@TheAugustinian Now that you mention it I remember since I discovered their music last October when Tyler Bryant and the Shakedown released their new album
would love to see the details on the Hx Effects routing
Great video Rhett
Love the pedal talk but hilariously the most interesting part to me is Back Down South is on a different part of the neck than where I have been playing it.
Hey! Rhett! That was very cool.
This episode is SO GOOD
Did I miss the part where you go over how this is wired or should that just be obvious. You could ask me where I've been for 3 years but I've only just started to consider the Iridium alongside my HX Effects to enable myself to go direct into my PA. Would be interested to see how you have this wired.
Hey Rhett! Have you ever tried Lambertones Humbuckers? The Cremas and the Grinders are absolutely fantastic low output P.A.F. style pickups. Cremas are my favourite pickups ever! Cheers!
Would love another vid on the hx effects. I have one but to be honest I’ve no idea how I can set it up as a rig with my other pedals.
Found Larkin Poe about the same time I started watching your videos so this was really cool to see. I loved the fuzz she was using in the beginning and saying it was so much fun. Which pedal was that? Thanks for all the content!
Used to live in Oxford...love the Fat Possum Records t-shirt.
Whoa! Amazing!! I love these guys!! However maybe I missed the info but I was wondering what is the signal chain for this pedalboard. Overdrive before HX ? Overdrive in Hx loop ? Any clue ?
If you could only have 1, which would you choose? Helix LT or Helix Stomp? Love your channel. Keep the good work!
XTS multi drive pedal and Tejas boost are 2 of the best pedals ever made!
