Please provide video to show replacement of VTX on the Hawk 5 . I have a brand new never flown Hawk 5 and am super bummed about the VTX failures and even more bummed with the way it appears it will have to be desoldered. Can I send it back to have it uprgaded in the servcie shop ? Wish I had known about this pin design before I bought it. I'm a newbie and didn't know any better.
Hello Emax. Please can you make a video or explain how to replace the linear antennas with the pagoda ones. My linear one fell out and I don't know with confidence how to replace the antenna slot with the SMA adapter. Thank you.
Simply snap in the connector. Sometimes it will be a little loose so we recommend hot gluing or using a dab of liquid electric tape to hold the antenna in place.
Thank you @@EMAXUSA I figured it out eventually and it is working fine. I would recommend suggesting this video (ruclips.net/video/vMLTAXW9VzE/видео.html) to people who have the same issue that I had. The bloke was very good at explaining what to do.
@@xxmrkillswitchxx no, but I think if I use solder wick on the 3 pins it should come right off once the solder is cleared. A solder sucker would work too I think. The magnum stack pin out is easy enough to find. Biggest issue will be if you can fit your new vtx in the stack. Might have to de solder the receiver too to make it all fit.. i might build my stack up a level and put it in there...

Hi Billy, I lost an LS 2206 2300 CW motor on my Hawk 5 in a recent spill and come to find out that one’s no longer produced. Apparently neither is the RSII 2206 2300kv motor. So I’m wondering which alternative would be best to swap all 4 out with, the 2700kv RSII, the ECO series or something else? This will be my first attempt at drone surgery so any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I bought both the cw and ccw motors, do I just solder them straight on or do I still need to cross over a wire? I know I can fix it in blheli but jut checking. Btw I love that tape. I using it on a freestyle build pretty good stuff.
thinking about updating to the betaflight 3.5 on my hawk 5. What u guys think the recommende settings are for it? As it has some changes with the new feed forward,
Can you make a video on how to add RSSI? I flashed my XM+. The receiver page on betaflight shows activity on Aux 12 but when I set it on the dropdown menu and save it, it disappears when I come back to receiver settings. RSSI just reads 17 on the OSD. I bought a FrSky QX7 just for this quad and have buyers remorse.
I'm trying to get my radio read out the voltage for me because I'm not using goggles yet, is it possible at all? As I read the XM+ is not able to send telemetry?? Thanks
I want 2306 2400kv with hq5146 props. Gopro is not a must but i do use a firefly camera which is on 20g. Would a 2206 2300kv do fine? I dont want to lose flight time from my ls2206 2300kv.
@@buleetu the heat from the soldering iron takes it right off and it isn't a spray but a brush on coating, it's silicone in suspension but it insulates from shorts and waterproofs too
you can clip the pins off and solder wire to it.. I've installed/setup other vtx w/smart audio. Also for whatever reason the stock vtx works better if you clip it off resolder with wire and attach with 3m foam tape. I think it reduces noise coming from the fc. I would also recommend adding a larger cap.
I used these rsII 2306 2400kv motors on a new build and one gets extremely hot when just hovering for a minute or two. The motor ha seven produced smoke once. I moved the motor to a different arm on the quad and the same problem. So I know it’s the motor. Will emax replace this for free?
I have a question why would you put a 3 dollar vtx in a 250 dollar quad? I don't get it it's the most important part of the game. I love my hawk 5 but the vtx is horrible if it were my product I would have never put this in unhappy with the vtx I should have done some research before purchasing
Thanks for the heads up! let me know what ya end up going with. I havnt looked closely at the stack... it would be nice if there is a good no solder option.
I had the same issue with the stock vtx.. had to clip it off the fc, later ended up burning up another vtx had nothing to fly with and reinstalled the stock vtx with silicone wire. I was surprised as the stock vtx suddenly worked great. It either has noise from the vtx sitting on the fc or bad qc on the connections.. I suspect that adding the 3m foam tape in between the fc/vtx reduces noise.
Great tutorial but you possibly stated conflicting information @ 27:30. You stated that the NEW Mini Magnum VTX has smart audio but you should be clear that this is only through the OSD and NOT through the radio like LUA or Spectrum. I was really disappointed finding this out after the fact as EMAX advertises smart audio however this FC does not support telemetry.
I got my new 5" hawk pro today and out of the box the throttle channel is on roll stick and the pitch is on the throttle stick. No clear instructions is a shame on such a nice quad which so far is only something to look at here LOL! Mode3? Mode4 Mode 1 Not Mode2!
The confusion is due to your transmitter. Out of the box all our products use the default Betaflight Frsky configuration for your channels. This can be easily customized though. You can change the order through Betaflight or refer to your transmitter instruction manual on creating a custom model to match the input order.
@@EMAXUSA Thanks, Emax should include more actual printed info for the price of the Pro, stickers are fine but a booklet or similar would help a lot. I was encouraging Emax china to make multirotor motors before quads so glad they became a leader. The old 2218 motors on big quads were great!
I really don't like the original motors (light spec). The bearings fail easily + the bottom shaft screw is cheap and strips (plus some of them are out of spec and don't fit with any allen wrench ). I'm frustrated as I have two motors which I cannot take apart to replace bearings. Performance was good, but makes me nervous to try these new upgraded motors. Anyone have a good motor alternative for the Hawk 5?
Innovative RC the RSII are a great upgrade. Your exp with the ls motors doesn't sound great. I haven't had any issues with mine but I'm about to put the RSII 2306 2400's on as soon as I can get a day off of work. I've had them for 2 weeks and have yet to install them lol.
Innovative RC I've had the same experience with the ls motors bottom shaft screws. One out of 4 just stripped out, like it was a slightly different size than the others. I've emailed emax to ask for a replacement screw, as I believe I can get the screw out, but if I do I don't want to put it back in again.
